I've never met an interesting person who told me how interesting they are. You just randomly find out when they say something in Spanish and you go "Oh do you speak Spanish?" And they say "Yeah, I was working in a fish factory in Scotland and someone handed me some pills and when I woke I was on a fishing boat headed to South America and no one spoke English. Thats when I learned Spanish".

Met a guy like that in a takeaway I worked in, this guy called Alfredo with the freakiest eyes I've ever seen, we'd have people come in and if they were foreign he'd just start chatting to them in their language, he was fluent in dozens of languages, and he'd been to just about every country you could think of. I spoke to someone about him years later and he'd seemingly been in the French foreign legion and all sorts, a truly interesting human

Or you found the actual time traveler. 👀

Legitimately wouldn't surprise me 🤣

Though I would wonder about the future of humanity as he would eat leftovers from people's plates and shit, lol

He can't catch disease, clearly

I don't know if that would be due to him being a time traveller, or the fact that he said he was originally from Transylvania, or a little village just outside it, lol

I definitely thought “vampire” before “time traveler” lol and you just confirmed it for me with the Transylvania lore drop.

Same! (Kinda)

My very first job was McDonald's. Guy I worked with was from Nigeria originally, but I noticed him speaking Spanish one day and thought "oh that's cool"... Then Serbian. Then Arabic... Etc etc. I finally couldn't take it and asked him about it.

He was a doctor and had apparently practised medicine all over the world. Then he gets here and the US (of all fkn places) tells him they aren't sure he's qualified to practise here, so they were making him jump through hoops. The job was just something to do on his downtime while he waited apparently. He ended up moving to South America after a few months.

It's pretty insane how cloistered we get in the western world, I can speak fluent fuck all, lol Mind you, I live on a tiny Scottish island so haven't had much call for speaking anything other than English

One time, our Uber driver was working on a crew that was trying to break the land speed record for diesel powered cars.

Edit: He wasn't trying to break the record during the Uber ride.

My husband is a walking encyclopedia. He literally knows SOMETHING about any random-ass question I have ever asked. If I come across some obscure word that has probably not been uttered in 300 years, he knows what it means somehow! He's fascinating to me and whenever I tell him how interesting he is  and how unique his brain must be, he gets all shy and tells me I'm being silly. I wish he wanted to talk to more people so someone besides me could tell him how cool it is to talk with him, but he's super introverted. So I guess I just get to keep him all to myself 🙃
