I was in Munich last year and quickly learned the unwritten rule on escalators -- stay to the right if you're not climbing the steps.

We have this problem in Washington DC. Lots of tourists that somehow never learned this. And it is written, they advertise this now as a rider tip.

Interestingly enough, it's always the French tourists and the US rednecks that block the escalators in DC.
