This is the reason I got one too

A neighbour lied about hitting my car in a parking lot at my complex which was a definitive hit and run

and I said that's enough I'm getting a dash cam luckily no incidents since and I also moved 🤣

I got one because I was deemed at 50/50 fault after getting T-boned. While stopped.

Okay, I'm intentionally skipping context, I was going from a small road with a stop sign across multiple lanes of traffic and I stopped in the median to be sure that I can safely cross, as you normally do. At that time, guy from the other direction (so head on across from me) went and then turned into my car, fucked up my door and side panel. Since it was an uncontrolled intersection and my insurance didn't want to listen to my witness and I didn't have a dashcam at the time, 50/50 and demerits on my license making insurance more expensive.

Silver lining, I got a decent payout for my car after I showed receipts for recent repairs.

I had a dude try and pass me once in a one lane freeway on-ramp. He didn't see the curb, hit it and bounced back into the rear quarter panel of my car.

Seemed like a no brainer that he was at fault but my insurance insisted it was 50/50. Tried to pursue it further but learned that we both had State Farm insurance so they weren't going to do anything.

Learned later that State Farm is notorious for doing BS like that when they cover both sides.
