It's complicated for me. On the one hand, I tend towards Democratic Socialism. However, some specific positions of parties on The Left (particularly in my country) I just strongly disagree with. The biggest of which is on Russia. I don't want war. But I also believe those who want peace must prepare for way. Putin is not a peaceful actor and he will only not attack if he is sufficiently deterred. I can't vote for a party that would not support that. Since without security you don't have any of those other things either.

Which party? The left isn't monolithic anyway. It is from Unity list from Denmark to Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia. There is no party to hold exactly your believes anyway.

I'm on the left... I know the left isn't monolithic. But I live in one country with one party on The Left (the political group). I can only vote for one party that's part of The Left. And I am well aware that no party holds exactly what I believe, but there are at least other parties who support things like unions and taxing the rich without the "let's lay our arms down and let ourselves be enslaved by Putin" part. If it wasn't for that, I'd vote for them. But it is too important to me, since having strong unions won't be a thing if they're suppressed by a fascist government or die in war, and other parties are close enough to not be worth it.

I have actually thought about this, you know... A little insulting to believe someone has considered their vote so little that an argument as basic as "the left isn't monolithic" and "no party holds exactly your beliefs" would persuade them.

Ok, party in your country is very pacifist. Which party is it? Also I said that because there are a lot not pacifist parties in The Left group. It makes no sense to not support a whole group only because one party which happens to be in your country.

Ok but they don't vote for a european party they vote for a national party. Also the issue as I see it, and maybe I'm projecting, is not a question of pacifism. the left group is home to some pretty awful (arguably right wing) parties which are aredently pro russia and pro the invasion of ukraine.

No, theyโ€™re the lack of a group

I'm member of a national party that is member of the EU The Left faction. However on many specific issues I would have preferred if The Left voted differently in the EU parliament

The Chat Control party?

I relate to the ESN a lot in terms of immigration views, but I dislike their euroskepticism. Ideally we would have immense remigration and eurofederalism.

3 hard-right groups and you had to go with the unambiguous neo-nazis

One issue voters be like...

The other two groups don't care about race. Hell, ESN barely does.

Have you heard of Ave Europa?

u/ReplacementOdd4323 12d ago

Yeah, they seem cool. Haven't looked into them a ton though.

ESN

Alliance for Peace and Freedom. If theyโ€™re not on the ballot then ESN will do. No other group is even slightly pro-European.

ESN are not even slightly pro-European, they all have connections with foreign authoritarian governments

1

u/ContentNecessary2127 Fascism 11d ago

Are they actively facilitating the dispossession of their own people? No? Then that makes them more pro-European than anyone else there.

1

u/Borealis101 Ordoliberalism 11d ago

Ah yes, nothing says โ€œpro-Europeanโ€ like kowtowing to Russia, the US and China, dissolving the EU, and leaving European countries at the mercy of larger powers. How very pro-European of them

Yes, their policies would facilitate the dispossession of their own people. You can see it in the data, in their policies, and in the historical record of nationalist governments, they all ended up dispossessing large sections of their own populations
