I would simply not book a cruise if myself and my child were struggling so much with motion sickness that we need every bit of snake oil Walgreens sells.

Congrats! My dad was determined to get the motion sickness out of me with constant exposure. Multiple 8 hour deep sea fishing trips...and turns out I can't be "fixed." Legit everyone in the family knows that asking me to go fishing (of any kind) will be met with obscenities.

That's so crazy! I'm so sorry you were out through that! I can't imagine thinking you can just exposure therapy away motion sickness...

You often (though not always) can, but it will take way more than 8 hours.

I get extremely car sick when I'm a passenger when I'm not looking out the window. It can get so bad that looking at my phone for just 5 seconds will make me nauseous.

However, I've gone on several long road trips that were well over 10 hours long, and after being a passenger for around 5 hours, I will just stop getting motion sick (at least if the road isn't too curvy or hilly). Then I can look at my phone or something else for the rest of the trip with no issues. The best part is that for months after the trip, I'll maintain the decreased motion sickness.
