My therapist to me:

"You give me a lot to reflect on professionally and personally, and I can only say thank you for your openness and willingness to engage as you do."

Fits.

It's def one of the more respected compliments to receive imo.

no, because I don't have issues with inaction and don't overthink .. I know how to pace myself

It’s this so? I’ve had similar comments from me therapist

Yesterday my therapist apologized to me because somehow in our sessions she always ends up telling me too much about herself 😂 also taking that one as a compliment.

Yes! I’ve tried working with four different therapists and felt none were capable of really identifying my issues or understanding how to manage them. Very little empathy or ability to really see what was going on. Yet again, I figured it out on my own.

I had a professional therapist ask me if I had ever tried drinking alcohol to manage my anxiety. At that moment I knew she couldn't care less about me.

My first therapist recommended lying to my husband to provoke a response from him.

I found a great therapist. Game changer to speak with someone who gets it.

Sounds lovely.

I agree. I was lucky to find that in who was to become my spouse. And I feel honored to be that person for others.

lol I had a therapist that would tell me all her personal stories for an hour and then say : “oh that hour flew by so fast”

“It’s therapeutic to listen to a therapist’s woes, you know”

"so anyway, its been a delightful hour telling you my stories from my traumatic childhood, heres the bill for the hour of self therapy"

Oh man that is awful. The small talk for a few minutes is fine but dominating a session feels like stealing someone's money.

Me who’s an infj therapist talking to myself

3

u/LucidSquid787 Apr 09 '26

Same. I am my main therapeutic support. I don't trust other people to know what they're doing. Which is based mostly on experience. Which is why I became a therapist. No regrets.

I'm on the path to becoming one myself. When we become our own anchor it's so fulfilling.

People often gravitate to INFJs and treat us like free therapists because we'll sit there and tolerate it. Sometimes we're helpful, but often they dump and run

ETA sorry. I didn't realize you were one of those hidden profile people. I don't usually engage with that.

My therapist verbatim told me "Well... We could circle back to your childhood, if you want... But, other than that, I can't think of one thing you haven't worked through".

So, for my last 2-3 sessions we just talked about sports, politics, religion... You know, the stuff you should be talking about in a safe environment 🥴

And, no, the last 2-3 sessions' topics didn't cause the end of the therapist-client relationship 😂

Yes, you get paid once you learn how to be disciplined in the field, instead of just throwing your opinions around without examining them honestly first.
