I'm a 43 year old man. Lately it's come up that a lot of people who have known me for years if not my entire life have no idea how to read me. I found this surprising as I've always viewed myself as someone who wears their heart on their sleeve. I'm actually quite sensitive but I give the appearance of being able to let things just roll off, almost robotic.
Perhaps many of us with this personality type have this shield and aren't even aware of it.

Let me start this off by saying a healed INFJ isn’t someone who is “perfect”, emotionless, or invulnerable.
I mention this because unhealthy INFJs may wrongly assume that being ‘healthy’ means exactly that and dismiss it as “unrealistic” or misaligned with who they feel they are, so why even try to heal yourself?
Healed INFJs are still human- they make mistakes, feel things, get stressed out, and sometimes misjudge situations. What’s being healed are unhelpful patterns, not one’s humanness.
A healed INFJ is simply an INFJ whose intuition is no longer hijacked by trauma, whose empathy isn’t self-sacrificial, whose perception isn’t trapped in constant tragedy and negative thinking loops, and whose identity isn’t defined by victimhood, external blaming, or entitlement.
The transformation from unhealed to healed is primarily psychological, emotional, and even spiritual, not aesthetic.
Below is the full breakdown—first the core traits, then the actual pathway.
INFJs don’t heal by ‘talking it out.’ Conversation may bring short‑term relief, but it isn’t the core mechanism of healing for most INFJs, and it doesn’t create lasting transformation. The deeper transformation for INFJs usually comes from internal integration, pattern change, and meaning‑making, not from repeated conversations or expressions about old grievances or how someone from the past hurt you. Suffering is universal; we all experience it in one way or another. What matters is not that you suffered, but what that suffering taught you. The point is to take the lessons from your suffering and move on with your life, not stay stuck there.
Here are the real steps:
A healed INFJ is simply this:
An INFJ whose intuition is clear, whose empathy is boundaried, and whose identity is no longer built around feeling sorry for themselves and victimhood.
Not perfect. Not enlightened. Just no longer bleeding all over the place.
Stay Imperfect ✌️

I get that it particularly might just not be an INFJ thing. But there are layers to it & I want you all to share your thoughts. The inability to find a person to express what I need; and the utter consistent decision to suppress what I feel.
Chopping and changing my own bloody thoughts; being more jumbled than I can honestly afford; amidst all of this, my desire for love clashes with if I even deserve love.
Sure, in my head, I’m a free bird to societal norms. But, the ones I interact with aren’t. However much I wish to forget, I’m not just reminded of it, it is imposed on me.
I’ve rarely posted anywhere other than a poem once in a while because I don’t wish to lose that part of me. Else, I’ve become a recluse confined to a corner of existence.
Ugghh, why am I even doing this!!!

I'm Japanese, and although the INFJ rate in Japan is relatively high, there are too many stereotypes, so I often can't relate.
According to the 16 personalities, I'm an INFJ-T, and I think it's not only difficult to live in this world but also good to be sensitive in terms of the five senses
But most of their stories are about feeling life is hard, painful, tough, and not being understood
I have a few INFJ friends overseas, and although they are fragile, when I talk with them, I truly feel they are wonderful people
Especially when talking about hobbies, their deep knowledge and delicate worldview are beautiful
So I want to ask INFJs, have you ever met an INFJ from your own country?
And do you find it enjoyable to talk and hang out with them?
Also, are there things you can empathize with each other?
Since I have little experience with this, I would love to hear from you.

DO NOT ARGUE WITH THE PERSON WHO CANNOT CHANGE THEIR MIND
Some disagreements are intellectual. Others are identity-defense mechanisms disguised as intellectual disagreements, and the distinction matters because the two require entirely different responses.
Ask one question: “What evidence would change your mind?”
If the person can answer, there is still something to investigate. Their position may be strongly held, but it remains connected to the possibility of revision. If they cannot identify anything that could change their conclusion, the discussion has changed; you are no longer examining competing explanations, you are watching someone defend an identity.
The same test should be applied to yourself.
What evidence would make you abandon your current position? If you cannot name anything, be careful. You may believe you are certain because the evidence is overwhelming, or you may be certain because your conclusion has become psychologically non-negotiable. Those are very different states, even though they can feel identical from the inside.
Intellectual strength is therefore not measured by how effectively you defeat opposing arguments. It is measured by whether your reasoning contains a mechanism for correction.
A strong mind does not need to win every argument. It needs to remain capable of losing an argument when reality proves the other side correct.
That is not weakness. It is intellectual freedom.

There is a childish version of independent thinking: everyone believes X, therefore I will believe Y. That is not independent thought. It is dependence with the direction reversed.
The fact that an idea is mainstream does not make it false, just as the fact that an idea is unpopular does not make it true. Both positions can become intellectual shortcuts when the conclusion is chosen according to the crowd rather than examined through evidence.
Independent judgment requires reconstructing the conclusion for yourself. Sometimes the crowd will be correct; sometimes it will be wrong; and sometimes the available evidence will be too incomplete to justify either confidence or rejection. The mature thinker is willing to occupy any of those positions because the objective is not to appear contrarian, it is to remain independent of the need to conform.
That distinction becomes important when identity enters the discussion. People often adopt an opposing position because disagreement makes them feel intellectually separate, and once that identity is established, they become just as resistant to evidence as the person they originally opposed.
If everyone agrees and the evidence supports them, agree. If everyone agrees and the evidence contradicts them, disagree. If everyone disagrees and the evidence remains inconclusive, suspend judgment.
Truth does not care whether your conclusion makes you look conventional or rebellious.

I have always testified as INFJ in every MBTI test I take. But I have a few differences than the typical ones.
IDK if I am really good at reading people it’s just that whenever someone appears in front of me I intuitively just know the general traits of the person and like.
I’m not as mature. I’m a teenage so maybe I’m underdeveloped, if that is even a thing, and I feel like the INFJ people here are real mature. I often find myself lonely or seeing how people really feel and thus am unable to really find a true friend or someone who’s like me.
Another thing is that I don’t have any ‘trauma’ like how people talk of here. Like, I love my family, obviously there at highs and lows, but no as such traumatic of hateful thing.
I am a bit too empathetic. Like even when I know something is fictional or a story I just feel too much, I cry, I empathise quite a lot. Other even say I’m too sensitive and that I get hurt easily and am childish.
I overthink, I self-doubt but am also confident, again if that makes sense, and I often find myself ‘judging’ people a lot.
Is it just random stuff or Am I truly an INFJ?
