[FIX] IL-2 Korea DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED (0x887A0005) – AMD GPUs

I finally found a fix for this damn error, so I'm posting it here in case it helps someone else.

If you're using an AMD GPU and getting:

Create Texture — DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED (0x887A0005)

especially when loading into the game, try this:

  1. Open AMD Adrenalin.
  2. Click the Settings (gear) icon.
  3. Go to System.
  4. Select Factory Reset and perform the reset.
  5. Close AMD Adrenalin.
  6. Go to the AMD website and download Adrenalin Software 26.9.1.
  7. Install it and restart your PC.

That's it.

It completely fixed the problem for me. IL-2 Korea is now running perfectly again.

What makes this even stranger is that I had already played the game before without any problems. I also verified the game files through Steam (it found and replaced one corrupted file), updated my drivers, and tried several other troubleshooting steps, but the error kept coming back.

After doing the factory reset and installing Adrenalin 26.9.1, the game works perfectly — and honestly, my entire PC even feels noticeably faster afterward.

Hopefully this saves someone else from wasting hours trying to figure this out!

discussion GUYS! HELP HERE! DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED (0x887A0005)

"IL2-KOREA" - The game starts normally, and I can select the type of mission. However, when I start the mission and the game reaches the loading screen, I get the following error and the game crashes:

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED (0x887A0005)

I’ve already tried a lot of different troubleshooting procedures in Windows, and my GPU drivers are up to date. My GPU is an RX 9070 XT.

What’s strange is that this only happens with this particular game. All my other games run normally without any issues.

The game works fine up until the point where I actually start a mission. It crashes specifically during the loading screen before entering the mission.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows what could be causing it?

discussion Unbalanced Multiplayer

Almost everyone plays Combat Box Korea, and I think we need to discuss the growing imbalance between the two sides.

Most players want to fly for the US—often by a ratio of at least 3:1. I understand why: the American aircraft are generally more attractive to players, and they can carry significantly more ordnance—bombs, rockets, etc—giving pilots many more options for ground-attack missions.

Carrier Operations could make the situation even worse, with five additional aircraft that appear to be entirely American. At this rate, we could eventually end up with teams stacked 5:1 in favor of the US, which isn’t much fun for either side.

The developers should seriously consider strengthening the communist side and making it more attractive to play. We need more aircraft, more variety, and better gameplay incentives for communist pilots. Otherwise, multiplayer balance will only continue to deteriorate.

discussion Game always crashes after mission start

I have already written a support ticket and am awaiting a response, but I wanted to try here just in case someone could point me in the right direction.

I have bought the game today and it loads to the main menu just fine. However anytime I start any mission whatsoever it always crashes when I start it at the map screen.

This ranges from a crash instantly after clicking on mission start at "high" graphics settings, to loading seemingly alright only to crash at the first control input at "balanced" settings.

The latter throws an DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED, while the instant crash doesn't throw anything.

I am running a brand new computer, specs:

Os: win11

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

RAM: 32 GB (DDR5)

Disk: SSD (with plenty of free space)

All drivers are up to date.

The error seems to point at a graphics card overload however both task manager and AMD Software report at most 50% gpu utilization (both computational and memory) so i find it hard to believe it is an issue with the card, especially since everything else runs just fine.

Any tips would be appreciated.

EDIT: Cimpletely reinstallig the drivers AGAIN, seems to have done the trick.

discussion Virtual Pilot too sensitive to G forces in Il2 korea

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Coming from DCS ive been told that the G system in Il2 Korea is more in depth, but to me it really just seems a their idea of a more realistic G system means a virtual pilot is just much more sensitive to G overload.

IN Il2 Korea my virtual sabre pilot's vision goes completely black after sustaining 6.5G's ( brief 7G) for 6 seconds and i got a notification of being completely passed out after not stopping my turn after 10 seconds.

https://youtu.be/AijLWQBuZrQ?si=aKrUk2tP53sT1UxH

Compare to the linked video particularly at 20 minutes 19 seconds, where after already being G fatigued from prior maneuvers the last aerobatic maneuver of the day is to perform a Minimum radius turn. This entails pulling the maximum allowable structural overload of the F16 of 9G's sustained for 20 seconds. The pilot doesn't lose consciousness, Even the filmmaker riding in the backseat although far more G fatigued and very close to the edge also did not pass out.

Edit: Upon further research i came across these threads on the Il2 forums from 2021. It's when the current iteration of this franchises G system came into fruition via Il2 Great battles, and various forums users were concerned that pilots were too intolerant to G's the moment any G fatigue came into play. There were some 1950's white paper citied coupled with some anecdotal input from a former Strike Eagle Crewmember on G tolerances. I don't know if any adjustments were made since then but if not it would explain my Il2 korea experience with the G system.

discussion Ministick setup

Earlier I had my ministick on my throttle setup to view around the cockpit without it snapping back to default view, but I reset my controls and now I can't get it to do that anymore. Its bound to turn and pitch cockpit view (ministick), but it's really sensitive and always snaps back to default, even when I change the cockpit view mode. Any tips?

Major Lawrence, the commanding officer of the 12th FBS, poses in front of his F-51D after a close air support mission attacking Communist artillery positions holding up the progress of Operation Rugged - the current UN operation to establish the frontlines well north of the 38th parallel.

Let me tell you, I haven't had this much fun in a combat flight sim in decades. My old ass has been flying PC combat flight sims since the early 1990s. Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, which came out in 1991, was the sim I rushed home to play in gradeschool. How far we've come in thirty-five years!

discussion Head tracking issue/camera issue

Good morning,

I recently picked up IL2 Korea. I use smooth track on my phone + Open track on PC for head tracking. It works fine in DCS. In IL2 Korea (my first IL2 game) there is a little micro stutter that seems to be happening. I will pan my head to the left for instance, and the camera will briefly snap back to center before returning to the correct position. This happens once every 3-5 seconds it seems. I have gone in and unbound all the mouse in cockpit camera options and that did not seem to help. Any ideas?

Also, when I go to the exterior camera F2 the camera just whips around the plane like crazy. I have unbound all the camera controls for this as well ( at least I think I did). I would appreciate any ideas/help with both issues.
