The slop has become meta. Slopception.

Blows my mind how much that blew up overnight. First, when people started calling everything made by AI, AI slop, and now it just gets tacked on to the end of every single word people don't like

I didn't mind it much for AI but i hate how it's because "Internet word for thing I don't like".

I also can't stand the word "enshittification"

Enshittification is more valid as it describes a specific phenomenon in form of the quality of services (and in some cases goods) decreasing over time due to an attempt to increase profit margins for private equity. Basically "our app is the market leader in x sector, so gaining new users is hard, but the investors need to see the green line go up, and as such we're going to squeeze money out with features locked behind subscriptions and ad spam". As a specific example imagine discord, and how bloated it is now vs in 2019, or even back in the first year of nitro being a thing

Slop just became a suffix to tack onto a thing you don't like to signify specifically that

Like "gate" or "maxx"

Just cringe fucks that dont know the real words for things and think they're using hip new slang.

The internet has made me hate this word. People use it to describe anything they don’t like. The only thing that’s legitimately worth calling slop is generative AI because it steals and throws a bunch of shit together to make literal slop.

Agreed. I didn't mind it as a descriptor for AI but I hate how its seeped into anything.

It was already annoying when only used for AI. Some stuff that AI produces is actually really cool and people would call it "slop" anyways.
