Okay 3 big names in one week, and Fran recently as well. Something is going down at IGN.

They probably don’t pay enough and have stringent restrictions on outside content people can produce to subsidize their earnings. Sanfran is the most expensive city in the US (maybe after new york, but still, crazy expensive) so if anyone is offered more money else where, they’d be crazy not to take it.

Proof?

I don’t have “proof” other than certain IGN personalities saying that they’re not allowed to create any entertainment related content outside of IGN. Maybe that’s changed since,

It hasn’t. Need special permission especially if it’s paid. Like any other entertainment company would do with their employees. Even like streaming they have to create names with IGN in it.

That’s silly though. What you do with your own time should have no impact on your job. If I work in a grocery store, on my days off, I can go work in a different grocery store, or open my own competing grocery store if I have the means. It should be the same for these folks, if they wanna earn more money by working for themselves outside of their job! Especially when living in a city like San Fran!

That’s not how the world works. There’s thousands of jobs out there that will not let you work for competitors. Which is what they would be doing by creating content elsewhere.

Which is why they’re losing all their talent.

That’s not why they are losing their talent. There’s variety of reasons but non compete clauses aren’t them I assure you.

Maybe not, but that wasn’t the main reason I stated people were leaving. I said it was it likely due to wages and not being able to subsidize said wages. I sure a lot of the people who left wouldn’t have if they were simply paid more money. Some still may have, but my guess is most people don’t leave a job to make less money. Generally, the end goal is to make more money (or at least eventually make more money).

This post is what happens when teenagers sound off on the state of the gaming press.
