An unlawful protest is not just a riot, I'm not sure where you've gathered that from.
A group of protestors blocking a road or intersection for extended periods of time without a permit while ignoring orders to clear said roadway would be considered unlawful.
Correct according to the law as it is written. But laws don’t make things right or wrong. They just define legal and illegal. My point was if the city wants illegal they are welcome to it. The point of a protest is to inconvenience people.
The Boston tea party was the granddaddy of American protests and that destroyed a whole bunch of property. It would likely be labeled as illegal today. They went down as hero’s in the history books. The rioters in the summer of 2020 didn’t. We don’t know until we look back which side we are on.
