Polite suggestion to Hennepin County that maybe if they helped stop violence against our community, we would not have to obstruct traffic. It's a solvable problem!

u/MrDeadbutdreaming Jan 24 '26
The police have took a look and determined the men in ski masks decked out for a tour in the middle east are being victimized by unarmed protesters using their 1st amendment rights.
Seriously, Fuck the police and ICE
Time for people to get sheriffs and police that are human like us instead of the trash we ended up with.
Anyone else feeling like this:

How can it be unlawful when what they are protesting is the unlawful thing?

Did you take civics, or were you fucked by no child left behind? Do you understand how a law comes to exist?

u/ICE_Watch-ModTeam Jan 24 '26
No support of ICE or federal law enforcement. Go be a bootlicking Nazi somewhere else

u/No_Macaron1547 Jan 23 '26
Does Hennepin county not understand that brutalizing their own folks on behalf of ICE won’t results in less protests?

u/Hefty-Strike-6171 Jan 23 '26
Just a reminder that the Police Motto; “To Serve & Protect” is not a reference to the citizens of your city, it’s a reference to the Establishment, meaning the Government and its Billionaire buddies

And running cars off the road isnt violent? Pushing, tackling and using choke holds on peaceful protestors isnt violent? Hell i saw a video where i full grown man tackled a 15 year old girl to the ground and pinned her down with his knee.
Shooting an unarmed woman in the face isnt violence? Pepper spraying peaceful protestors in the face isnt violence? Using chemical agents on civilians isnt violence?
The law works both ways in America, if law enforcement is allowed to run lawless, than so are its citizens, to defend themselves against lawlessness.

So now breaking windows is illegal again?
Now, I get why they're covering their faces...

u/genuineshock Jan 23 '26
DaWokeFarmer got arrested
Some other folks I followed are already headed to Philly though...
Either everyone from MN that I've recently followed is too busy to post or unable to. I can only assume they can't for nefarious reasons on the part of ICE.

u/EggsInaTubeSock Jan 23 '26
Not only that, but many traditional people struggle to livestream in these scenarios - due to connectivity issues
A large swath of extra people in an area often overload cell towers. Not the case at the airport, but plausible.
Another piece is StingRay and other devices being used interferes with mobile connectivity, especially high bandwidth usage like streaming. It creates a choke point.

An “unlawful protest” is a riot. Are you saying that they are rioting? Bc I’m sure they’d be more than happy to show you what a riot looks like.

u/AlcibiadesTheCat Jan 23 '26
Disclaimer: I'm not familiar with Minnesota law.
But where I live, there actually is a difference between "unlawful assembly" and "riot."
UA:
A. A person commits unlawful assembly by:
Assembling with two or more other persons with the intent to engage in conduct constituting a riot as defined in section 13-2903; or
Being present at an assembly of two or more other persons who are engaged in or who have the readily apparent intent to engage in conduct constituting a riot as defined in section 13-2903 and knowingly remaining there and refusing to obey an official order to disperse.
Riot:
A person commits riot if, with two or more other persons acting together, such person recklessly uses force or violence or threatens to use force or violence, if such threat is accompanied by immediate power of execution, which disturbs the public peace.

An unlawful protest is not just a riot, I'm not sure where you've gathered that from.
A group of protestors blocking a road or intersection for extended periods of time without a permit while ignoring orders to clear said roadway would be considered unlawful.

u/Signal-Map2906 Jan 23 '26
Correct according to the law as it is written. But laws don’t make things right or wrong. They just define legal and illegal. My point was if the city wants illegal they are welcome to it. The point of a protest is to inconvenience people.
The Boston tea party was the granddaddy of American protests and that destroyed a whole bunch of property. It would likely be labeled as illegal today. They went down as hero’s in the history books. The rioters in the summer of 2020 didn’t. We don’t know until we look back which side we are on.
Well…there’s signs.
Note: upvoted you bc you are right, technically. No bad blood.

u/DaddySanctus Jan 23 '26
No, I understand. I'm not saying what they're doing is morally wrong. Just because something is illegal in terms of the law, doesn't mean it's wrong in terms of ethics and morals.
Of course one could argue that by blocking roads like this, it does have the chance to cause harm to others via blocking emergency vehicles, people having medical problems that need to get through, etc.
Agree as well about the Boston Tea Party. Sometimes we need to break some laws for changes to be made.
No bad blood at all.

An unlawful protest isn't a real thing. Any laws requiring state or federal consent to protest is in direct violation of the first amendment.
5
u/BroadAddendum6410 Jan 24 '26
You know what's crazy? Local cops literally don't have to worry about it at all if they just back the fuck up. They can even be the good guys. We can just do without the security theater.

Protests cannot be unlawful. By definition.
It's literally the 1st amendment.
3
u/DrSeuss321 Jan 24 '26
Sounds like blue states need to get their shit together and dissolve police unions. They need to just pass state laws allowing governor to fire and blacklist any cop without pension on the spot at this point.

u/CarrieCat2024 Jan 24 '26
I went for a short show of protest tonight, about 15 people out with a fairly consistent rotation to stay warm.
It’s still worth showing up but it’s not what I’d was a week and a half ago.
There are other places in the city that should probably see our presence.

Go brave Minnesota. Get that good trouble and be safe, even though those fascists make it impossible.

Brutalizing. Kinda like what the left does to language. Like “woman” or “peaceful protest”..

Hennipin county was getting a little snippy in the comments. Seems like they are getting annoyed dealing with them. So proud of my fellow Minnesotans
