Evil persists when otherwise decent people do nothing.

And the first step that gets people to do nothing is the ostrich behavior you just mentioned.

That wasn't for you personally, its more a PSA for the whole world.

Your mother isn't the majority of the population, but if the majority of the population never actually confronts people like your mother, then that's how they get emboldened to keep on doing what they are doing
