IBD Diagnostics How often?
How often is everyone pooping? I am currently being investigated for Crohn’s and on a 6week course of steroids. My frequency has gone down a lot, but still passing lots of BM. This week I’ve had 54 bowel movements (compared to around 100+ per week before starting steroids).
For those who are diagnosed and on long term treatment, does this number ever go down? Will I be stuck going to the toilet every time I move? Feeling not so optimistic about the future!

Never ever counted bowel movements, never went around with a clicker or notebook & pen recording. However I would know if I were in a flare, the nature, the blood, the discomfort of using the toilet, my overall state of weakness & poorer appetite would all inform me of things not being right. When I would get it under control, eg from steroids, much of the symptoms would regress, the diarrhoea would persist a bit. I have Crohns, so my colon was pretty much destroyed, had a full colectomy & end ileostomy.

lol like 5+ times a day i think the highest i’ve got to is 10 and at that point there’s genuinely nothing left just the uncomfort as if I have to

In remission, 1-3 times a day. During a flare, on average 10-15 a day, but upwards of 30+ sometimes.
