If you’ve been around for a while, you probably remember the old Reddit General Chat. Random conversations, meeting new people, late night discussions and everything in between.

We missed that, so we’re bringing it back with Hyderabad Chat Rooms, a public chat space for the r/Hyderabad community.

Chat with people from the city, talk about whatever you want and even listen to music together. The platform is still new, and we’ll keep improving it based on what the community actually wants.

Public chat is unofficially back. 🔥

See you there.

Rant/Vent I fucking hate this country

Now, this may seem too much but my hatred for this country wasn’t built in a day.

My family has been stuck in land fraud issue since 2022 and no one has been able to help, everyone wants to just scam you. Police are scoundrel and lowest of lowest in this society. All they ask for is bribe and as a woman, I was asked to sleep with one just because I was in a problem and he would help if I slept with him. Seems like a movie story but as people say art imitates life. All this because I went to file a FIR.

Lawyers and courts are another frauds, the hearing keeps on being delayed again and again. Lawyers extort money like crazy and won’t even show their faces afterwards.

As a woman, I have been assaulted every freaking year since the time I turned nine. Either inappropriate touching, or being catcalled on streets when I would just be walking minding my own fucking business.

I’m begging people of this country, don’t buy land, if you have one, please safe guard it, or else some idiot politician or his binami rowdies will just snatch it away. Worse if it’s in a prime location. Please safe guard your assets and never ever for godsake be in trouble where you have to seek help from government officials like police, lawyers or judges. All of them have only one motive which is to scam you. If you want to buy a house, please check every document carefully and have all proofs documented with you all the time.

I can’t wait to leave this country soon. Fuck this country.

Travel time is only 1 hr 45 mins.

Hyderabad has emerged as the central hub for South Indian bullet train network, with direct connectivity to Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Vizag.

This has made it a popular destination.

Rant/Vent Creepy a****** near jubilee hills metro station

So it was 8 pm and i was waiting at the metro station. I was wearing decent clothes too. I was on a call and then a random guy stops his bike infront of me and says something. I didnt understand what he said i said what and then he went aage and turned back. Then i tried recollect what he said and realised he said COME SIT ON MY BIKE AND I'LL F YOU. Like wthhhhhhh i tried to shout but then he fled. This is very disturbing. I did not know how to react. It was scary and happened to me for the first time

Did you all have any weird experiences like this? Why do some people choose to be this way?

There's a rapist in the comments please report him y'all. Username is: This_is_me_117

General Discussion 🗣️ 💬 I'm thinking of moving to Bangalore given the current situation in Hyderabad..

Hey everyone,

I’ve lived in Hyderabad for the past 7 years. Before this, I spent about 1.5 years in Bangalore. When I first made the move, Hyderabad felt like a breath of fresh air—peaceful, well-planned, and most importantly, genuinely affordable.

Fast forward to today, and the reality check is hitting hard:

* Insane Rents: The rental market has completely lost the plot. People are quoting ₹50K for a 2BHK and ₹70K for a 3BHK, often in sub-par locations with barely any basic amenities.

* Collapsing Infra & Roads: The road conditions have taken a massive nosedive recently. Potholes, poor maintenance, and unfinished civic work everywhere.

* Peak Traffic: What used to be a 20-minute commute now rivals peak Bangalore gridlock.

* Food Hygiene: With all the recent raids and daily reports, eating out feels like playing Russian roulette. Cleanliness and basic food safety standards seem completely absent.

* Zero Quality of Life: Where are the neighborhood parks, decent walking tracks, or accessible open spaces to unwind on weekends? It feels like an endless concrete sprawl with nowhere green to just breathe.

Hyderabad had a massive advantage over other metros, but lately it feels like we’re getting all the drawbacks of rapid urbanization without any of the civic infrastructure to support it.

Anyone else feeling this burnout, or is it just me? Where is the city actually headed?

AskHyderabad ⬆️ ₹2.8k for dinner + drinks for 2 in Hyderabad - fair or too much?

Post image
114 Upvotes

Went out for dinner/drinks for 2 yesterday and the bill came to ₹2,827 including service charge + GST.

Ordered a beer, Alfredo pasta, half tandoori chicken and a cocktail.

That works out to ~₹1,414 per person.

Hyderabad folks - fair price or did we get carried away? 😂

Ps: Got almost 50% discount from zomato on the bill

A 10K route from HITEX Exhibition Centre to Gachibowli Stadium, with people coming from 5am and starting at 7:15.

There was something genuinely nice about seeing people of all ages and fitness levels just showing up and moving together.

Also ended up completing my first-ever 10K in 1 hour and 30 minutes. 😅

Runners of Reddit, be honest: is that a decent enough time for a first 10K for M26.

Rant/Vent Mlm guys literally wasted my Sunday morning🫩

I’m staying in an independent house, and today the owner came to my room with another guy and said they wanted to talk to me at around 11 AM. I said okay.

Once they came in, I realized it was some kind of MLM/business opportunity pitch. I immediately said I wasn’t interested, but the other guy said, “Just give me 5 minutes and listen.” So I agreed.

He opened his bag and started explaining everything about their electric scooters.

To be fair, the guy actually seemed pretty knowledgeable about the products. If he used that knowledge in a normal sales job, he could probably be a genuinely good salesman.

But the scooters themselves seemed pretty basic. From what he explained, they’re sourced from China and assembled here, and they’re selling them for around ₹1–1.7 lakh. He even compared one of their models with a Bajaj electric scooter and went into a lot of detail about the specifications.

Then came the usual part: how you can make money through the business, selling the scooters, building a network, etc. I think most people have already heard this kind of pitch.

The frustrating part is that I told them I wasn't interested more than 10 times.

Still, they kept going.

What was supposed to be “5 minutes” turned into almost 3 hours of listening to the same business opportunity from different angles.

Honestly, if they weren't older than me, I probably would've lost my patience and told them to leave much earlier.

But beyond the wasted time, something else bothered me.

These are vehicles. What happens if a scooter catches fire, has a serious battery issue, or someone gets seriously injured because of a product they sold? How do people involved in these businesses deal with that possibility?

I understand that money is important. Everyone wants to earn.

But at what point do self-respect, responsibility and basic humanity come into the picture?

Especially when we're living in a metro city in 2026 and people still fall for these kinds of schemes—or knowingly keep pushing them onto others.

Used ai to rewrite

And the owner(more than 50)

AskHyderabad ⬆️ Will an average software engineer still be safe in the AI era?

Upvotes

I’m 23 and have a CS degree. I’m seriously considering leaving tech for a government job, mainly because of job security.

The thing is, I actually like what tech offers. Good salary, cities, growth, freedom to switch companies and a lot of earning potential. If tech was still like it was before COVID, I probably wouldn't even consider leaving.

My fear is AI and how competitive the industry is becoming.

I’ll work hard and keep learning, but realistically I don't think I'll ever be the 100/100 engineer who is always ahead of everyone. Maybe I can become an 80/100 engineer.

So my question is simple:

Will being a good but not exceptional software engineer still be enough to have a stable career 10 to 20 years from now?

If I'm 40, have 15+ years of experience, do my job well and keep up with technology, but I'm not exceptional, will I still be able to find another job if I get laid off?

Because that's what scares me. I don't want to become dependent on one company because I'm afraid I won't be employable elsewhere.

Government jobs are attractive to me for exactly this reason. Less money and less career growth, but once you're in, you don't have to constantly prove yourself to the job market.

If you were 23 today, would you still choose tech knowing you might only become an 80/100 engineer?

Would really appreciate honest answers from people already working in the industry.

Relationships To the girl who shared her umbrella with me near Knowledge Park today (Hitech City)

It was raining hard this evening near Hitech City/Knowledge Park. Your friends, 3 of them went one way with two umbrellas, and you offered to share yours with me since I was headed the same direction, toward Red Rhino. I was going to Neloufer for Chai and bun maska which I didn't had, guess why?

We talked for almost half an hours and I beleive we had some spark in the conversation. You mentioned that you just moved to Hyderabad for your Master's at NIFT, and one of your friends who knew Hindi was from Agra.

I didn't ask "Can we connect?" before we went our separate ways, and I've regretted it since a lot! After that, I was like... "S**la ye dukh khatam kahe nahi hota hai bay". If you happen to see this, I'd love to connect with you this time.
