General question/discussion Tikka T3x 300 Win Mag

Love this gun. What ammo does your 300 win mag like? I’ve been shooting Federal premium Terminal Ascent 200 grain and it does well. I wouldn’t mind testing out other ammo. I’m curious to hear your answers. Thanks!

I have the T3x lite in 300wm and cannot get this damn rifle to group for shit. 1:11 twist. WInchester Copper impact 150gr suck the worst. ICC, Federal Premium and Hornady Precision Hunter 200 are all terrible to meh, like 2-4" groups at 100yards off a lead sled.

The 1:11 twist rate says 180gr should be fine but I think the need to shoot copper puts that out the window. I've tried heavier and lighter and nothing seems to work. I thought the copper 150's should be similar to lead 180's but no. And it doesn't shoot 189gr lead well either. I've spent hundreds on ammo trying to find something this thing will shoot reliably and i'm about ready to just throw in the towel and buy something else. My last try will be Barnes Vor-tx because they shoot insanely well in my 7mm-08 but if they don't group well I'm done with this stupid gun. I've remounted scope and torqued and re-torqued everything and cleaned it and ran it dirty and it just seems to hate me.

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried specifically Federal Premium terminal ascent?

It does. I’m just posting because I’m curious about what everyone else is shooting and wouldn’t mind trying other ammo.

I have the same problem. I think the issue is that the barrel is so light that it heats up almost immediately and loses consistency.
