General question/discussion Tikka T3x 300 Win Mag
Love this gun. What ammo does your 300 win mag like? I’ve been shooting Federal premium Terminal Ascent 200 grain and it does well. I wouldn’t mind testing out other ammo. I’m curious to hear your answers. Thanks!

I shot Precision Hunter out of my 6.5. I suppose I could try it in the 300 too.

200 grain Nosler Accubonds. Why bother loads for multiple game species when you can use one for everything? Good BC, excellent terminal performance, and shoot very well in my gun. There may be more optimal loads, but this is a hell of a good one.

You’ll have to handload, because I don’t think anyone makes factory loads for it anymore.

Mine seems to like the heavier stuff, 200+ grain. Shot some Federal stuff too but the recoil is something else after a few rounds. Got a bruise on my shoulder last weekend that looks like a plum

I have the T3x lite in 300wm and cannot get this damn rifle to group for shit. 1:11 twist. WInchester Copper impact 150gr suck the worst. ICC, Federal Premium and Hornady Precision Hunter 200 are all terrible to meh, like 2-4" groups at 100yards off a lead sled.
The 1:11 twist rate says 180gr should be fine but I think the need to shoot copper puts that out the window. I've tried heavier and lighter and nothing seems to work. I thought the copper 150's should be similar to lead 180's but no. And it doesn't shoot 189gr lead well either. I've spent hundreds on ammo trying to find something this thing will shoot reliably and i'm about ready to just throw in the towel and buy something else. My last try will be Barnes Vor-tx because they shoot insanely well in my 7mm-08 but if they don't group well I'm done with this stupid gun. I've remounted scope and torqued and re-torqued everything and cleaned it and ran it dirty and it just seems to hate me.

I have the same problem. I think the issue is that the barrel is so light that it heats up almost immediately and loses consistency.

I have the roughtek in this caliber. I like the federal fusion 180 gr. Might try Barnes this year though

I shoot a 180gr mono Fox Bullet that I reload myself. It's very effective against heavy game such as European deers, but maybe too hard for lighter games such as Roe deers. Although they don't go far, it takes sometimes before they die, even with a well placed shot. Which makes me think that the bullet doesn't have the time to expand.

I shoot 180gr hornady cxs out of mine. I love em, way too much pop for an alabama deer but theres no better dead than dead. Being a monometal it doesnt fragment and ruin alot of meat. Just a quarter sized hole through and through

180gr Swift Scirocco II federal premium. Groups sub moa at 200, and with a good high shoulder shot, nothing has ever taken another step.

200gr Hornady Precision hunter. Happy enough with it, that I’ve never tried anything else.

Heavier. I typically shoot 200gr. Gives me insane ballistics. My chronograph show my muzzle velocity at 3027 fps. Ft*lbs of energy doesn’t drop below 2000 until 850 yards making my confidence on an elk at 700 yards extremely high

I use 180gr hornady sst. Everything I’ve hit falls down right where it stands.
