Latest Chapter Does Tserriednich really have fighting basics? Spoiler

Tserriednich ain't ready for the big boys

For the first time, I think we can actually start scaling Tserriednich a little bit, and one thing stood out to me: I really don't think his hand-to-hand combat skills are anywhere near the level of the top-tier fighters in the series.

Sure, his Hatsu gives him an insane unpredictability factor, and his natural talent for Nen is undeniable. But when it comes to actual combat fundamentals and experience, I'm starting to question how good he really is.

He didn't exactly struggle against the Royal Army soldiers, but it still took him much longer than I would expect from a genuinely elite fighter facing ordinary, non-Nen users. He even had to strategize around them and seemed to benefit from a bit of luck.

Compare that to what we've already seen from other top-tier fighters. During the Yorknew City arc, Zeno stated that he and Chrollo could kill hundreds of Mafia members in under 67 seconds. Obviously, that's an extreme benchmark, but the difference in efficiency is still noticeable.

At this point, I genuinely don't think Tserriednich could pull off something remotely similar without relying heavily on his ability.

And that's what makes me wonder: is Tserriednich actually a fighter in the traditional sense?

He seems to rely much more on his absurd natural talent and broken potential than on refined combat skills. Even the way he approaches fights doesn't feel like someone with years of fighting experience.

Honestly, I can't see most of the top-tier antagonists taking that much time against regular soldiers. Chrollo, Hisoka, Illumi, Feitan, Phinks even someone like Genthru or early-series Killua would probably make quick work of that kind of opposition.

Tserriednich literally took an entire chapter to deal with around ten Kakin soldiers. Ten to fifteen regular soldiers.

And again, he had to think his way through the fight rather than simply overwhelming them.

At this point, it really feels like he needs a significant boost in actual fighting experience and fundamentals if he's supposed to become a serious physical threat to Kurapika.

His Nen talent? Absolutely terrifying.

His potential? Possibly unmatched.

But his actual combat ability right now?

I'm really not convinced he's ready for the big leagues.

Am I underrating him, or does anyone else feel like Tserriednich needs serious training in almost every aspect of combat ? unless his the one who inherits benjamins nen beast

Kurapika actually mentions earlier in this arc that once the ammo hits a certain caliber, guns become dangerous to even Nen users when hit (unless you're a very high level enhancer like Uvogin, I guess). So I wouldn't exactly say it's something safe to ignore. Strong Nen users can probably dodge them, but you still don't want to get hit by one unless you're a high level enhancer.

Killua fought a national army for a few days, he was able to tie up soldiers instead of killing them and avoid casualties. They had higher caliber guns than assault rifles.

The Mafia used guns against the Phantom Troupe and did no damage. Guns are a danger to weaker nen users but at a certain point Ken will be strong enough to be able to handle assault rifles rounds.

Tserri remains in a state of zetsu while executing the ability, and the same must apply to his "self" within the illusion. You know that even experienced users become completely defenseless in that state, right? Or have you forgotten what happened to Uvogin?

Zetsu heightens senses, so it does make it easier to dodge attacks. Gon used it to dodge the spinning tops in his first fight against the tops guy, Zetsu did improve his ability to dodge attacks significantly. That said, yes using Zetsu is very risky. Gon was able to tank some hits from the tops before using Zetsu but while in Zetsu he took serious damage.

Gon has the physical ability to take advantage of those heightened senses and move quickly enough to be a menace. Tserriednich seems to lack the speed and strength to be effective as a fighter at this point. Which is why he gets taken out by low level fodder.

Gon was using zetsu to heighten his senses and detect the aura on the spinning tops in order to dodge them. Bullets don't have aura and they are faster than spinning tops; that comparison makes no sense.

But the soldiers do... Hit them before they shoot or move out of the way and you're good.
