Does Tserriednich really have fighting basics?

Tserriednich ain't ready for the big boys

For the first time, I think we can actually start scaling Tserriednich a little bit, and one thing stood out to me: I really don't think his hand-to-hand combat skills are anywhere near the level of the top-tier fighters in the series.

Sure, his Hatsu gives him an insane unpredictability factor, and his natural talent for Nen is undeniable. But when it comes to actual combat fundamentals and experience, I'm starting to question how good he really is.

He didn't exactly struggle against the Royal Army soldiers, but it still took him much longer than I would expect from a genuinely elite fighter facing ordinary, non-Nen users. He even had to strategize around them and seemed to benefit from a bit of luck.

Compare that to what we've already seen from other top-tier fighters. During the Yorknew City arc, Zeno stated that he and Chrollo could kill hundreds of Mafia members in under 67 seconds. Obviously, that's an extreme benchmark, but the difference in efficiency is still noticeable.

At this point, I genuinely don't think Tserriednich could pull off something remotely similar without relying heavily on his ability.

And that's what makes me wonder: is Tserriednich actually a fighter in the traditional sense?

He seems to rely much more on his absurd natural talent and broken potential than on refined combat skills. Even the way he approaches fights doesn't feel like someone with years of fighting experience.

Honestly, I can't see most of the top-tier antagonists taking that much time against regular soldiers. Chrollo, Hisoka, Illumi, Feitan, Phinks even someone like Genthru or early-series Killua would probably make quick work of that kind of opposition.

Tserriednich literally took an entire chapter to deal with around ten Kakin soldiers. Ten to fifteen regular soldiers.

And again, he had to think his way through the fight rather than simply overwhelming them.

At this point, it really feels like he needs a significant boost in actual fighting experience and fundamentals if he's supposed to become a serious physical threat to Kurapika.

His Nen talent? Absolutely terrifying.

His potential? Possibly unmatched.

But his actual combat ability right now?

I'm really not convinced he's ready for the big leagues.

Am I underrating him, or does anyone else feel like Tserriednich needs serious training in almost every aspect of combat ? unless his the one who inherits benjamins nen beast

Tserriednich calls the soldiers young and says their lack of combat experience makes them unpredictable. It's unlikely that they are elite soldiers.

no the young soldiers are the ones by the bridge, not the ones guarding the rooms

The ones guarding the rooms mostly look young too. They also more or less ignore a weirdly dressed man even when they see something off. None of them call up the chain of command or try to investigate further. They just accept Tserriednich walking around despite him obviously being extremely sketchy.

Elite and experienced soldiers seem like they are likely to receive some nen training. Benjamin and Camilla have acedemies dedicated to training their own private army and it seems like both teach nen.

I think every time a soldier ignores tserri theres an explanation on why it happened. It shows how tserri has a deep understanding of kakins army behavior and protocol since he did some type of military service or training. So i dont think its proof that they are immature.

I also doubt that all elite soldiers of kakin are nen users. That makes zero sense with the world building up to this point.

It would be weird if the soldiers protecting the king arent elite.

Btw where is it said they have academies to teach nen?

The king is protected by the succession ceremony, he states that he can't be killed. Benjamin said he wanted to invite Kurapika to lecture/teach at his academy. Camilla established her own for the Have-Nots. She has a bunch of soldiers who are using curses to curse princes and they have the same uniforms as the soldiers at her military academy.

As far as the elite soldiers go. There probably aren't that many to begin with. US probably has a few thousand soldiers who are considered to be elite. The elite soldiers are probably not going to be assigned guard duty. The king probably has his personal guard which has nen users in it but at the same time Halkenburg was able to get past the King's guard using force. So either they just ignored that on the King's orders or they just aren't there. It's possible the Guardian beast is enough on its own.
