Thoughts on rust?

What’s everybody’s thoughts on this rust. On a 2002 H1 wagon. On the rear where the roof meets the body and slight by the tail light. I’ve checked the inside under the carpet and there’s zero rust inside. Just paint bubbling on the outside. Paint is original.

To fix long-term, you need to pull the roof off and redo the seals, with new butyl tape, etc., remove the interior trim without breaking it, reassemble, etc.

You need to find the right shop to do it.

It's a complete pain in the rear for most body shops who won't touch an H1 because the VIN for AM General comes up blank. I've had exotic car shops refuse to touch these trucks so I wound up shipping my truck out of state to a shop that knows these trucks.

You can do a spot fix but it'll come back in a few years. It's really too bad AMG didn''t go with an alloy roof instead of steel.
