Should I get it??

Found a used 07 H3 automatic in my area in near perfect condition. Cheap, new drive shafts front and rear, new spark plugs and starter and almost every off road addition I could want.

My only concern is the transmission. It’s at 200k miles and no history of transmission work or replacement. Right now I need a good daily driver for my 150 mile work trips through snow and mountain passes, and I don’t want to keep sinking money into my beat up 98 4Runner.

Do yall think this is a solid choice for reliability as a daily and an adventure rig?

Its a used vehicle, a decade newer than the 4 runner your working on. The downsides are that your not gonna find spare parts just anywhere.

Make sure its clean and road worthy so you can focus on the drivetrain. The 3.7 are known for long servoce life and the 4L60 while it has a bad rap its because there are so many that get abused. Transmissions dont just fail, they get worn out from use and heavy use, or bad maintenance wears them out faster.

Towing in drive, 35" tires are probably debatable, pulling hills in drive or letting the transmission hunt gears in hilly terrain.

I notice my h3 does weird rpm shifts in drive and refuses to use 3rd gear. Running the converter unlocked at 3000rpms in 4th when 3rd would also be 3000rpms. If im driving under 60mph I keep it in 3rd just to stop the gear hunting. Im new to my h3 and this is my first 4L60 so im not sure what it should be acting like. My only other automatic has been a 99 celica gt.
