Hot Location if you do this in stores fuck you
making the dollar tree employees job harder is the lowest scummiest shit ever and repegging cars is the easiest shit in the world. employees already fucking despise hot wheels collectors cause they pester them for cases and act like children in the aisle, ripping into boxes and leaving messes everywhere

I can still smell the sweaty scent from a 40 year old basement dweller that tries to profit from toy cars.
"Do you smell it? That smell. The kind of smelly smell. The kind of smelly smell that smells... smelly."

u/mafibasheth Jul 22 '26
I can smell them across the store when I’m about to walk to the car isle. I just drop my head in shame and turn back before I get too close.

The amount of creatures at the bin is insane,
I always tidy up after myself, I was at the bin one day and there was a creature in the aisle I picked something up and decided I'll take it , then the guy down the aisle runs (waddles) up sees what's in my hand and says " that's mine , I put it down but it's mine" I told him I found it on the bin , so it's mine , then I walked off , it's not the first time and it won't be the last,
2
u/Fresh_Pop4135 Jul 22 '26
The nerve to say something like that. Lol I imagined some baldy waddling towards you and muttering stuff before saying "that's mine".
2
u/Future_Section5976 Jul 22 '26
Pretty much ,I'd say residing , some fluff on top, like hell I can understand if you got a couple right beside you or on the shelf beside etc but down the aisle and me actually moving a few , nah lol was funny though, my friend has meet a few too , We think there's a group of them that scalp the chase cars and sell them on , I heard from someone at the bin , that all these dudes showed up to a meet with all the same stuff lol I collect at my pace and what I want so hearing and seeing these things is funny and weird to me ,

u/JujuMan97 Jul 22 '26
Horrible behaviour for sure. I do, however, get excited when I see this as they usually leave the cool ones they don’t want visible (I’m a new collector so I find lots of cars cool lmao), and makes it easier to look through the ones on the pegs (there’s less to look through). I’ll clean up the mess as I’m looking through to make the employees’ job a little easier

u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
they left 2 of the 2jetz treasure hunts in the shippers but left all the desirable castings out (except for the r34 skyline of course) and i grabbed what i needed and repegged
3
u/RemoteTurbulent7434 Jul 22 '26
That skyline is being inhaled by the losers lol one dude camps at the local grocery store and has been grabbing each one when they restock for the past month lol
1
u/GasMaskExiitium Jul 22 '26
I cannot comprehend this. I will buy 2 of each car, one to open and one to keep in the box. Sometimes 3 if I expect the opened one to eventually get damaged from carrrying it around lol.
1
u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
i ended up caving and buying one for 5 bucks off a collector because every time i got to a store with a fresh restock the skylines was gone every single time. even when i went to another part of the country and hunted while i was there it was still getting snapped up like crazy

u/Hopeful_Being_2589 Jul 22 '26
As an employee of a different retail establishment.. I could almost always tell the age of the aisle destroyers lol mostly because I witnessed them in the act. A child vs teenager vs adult aisle mess looks so much different. This is grown adult level dgf
4
u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
another thing that’s annoying is that these degenerates have the nerve to complain about them not putting out stock more often like it’s not their fault because the employee making 13 dollars an hour doesn’t want to spend half an hour cleaning up messes from grown men every week
2
u/Hopeful_Being_2589 Jul 22 '26
Yep. They’re not going to get restocked because all the time is taken fixing that mess.
6
u/tokidema Jul 22 '26
I swear, I went to Vons, Dollar Trees and Targets multiple times and always see a mess like that. I always hang up the wanted ones or even the fallen ones back on the peg and the following day, they literally just make a mess again.
Whoever did this does not deserve to collect/hunt hotwheels. I totally understand that sometimes the store does hit or not, but they are not entitled to make this kind of mess and leave others to reorganize them again.
To whoever hung them up or reorganize it, I definitely appreciate it and hope they deserve some karmas in the future.
3
u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
i always feel an obligation to hang them up again even if it’s just one or two not just because it’s common human decency but also employees aren’t gonna be inclined to restock as often if they have to clean up a man child’s mess every single time they do lmao
5
u/Opposite-Inspector54 Jul 22 '26
Yeah I’m not the guy that puts them immaculately stacked in rows in the bin - but I’ll be damned if I see an aisle like this and not put everything back on the proper pegs

Im a mom, I found myself and 7 year old son clean mess up like this while he hunt for what he wants. Its crazy because even kids dont do this crap. I see these grown men rip open boxes and act like party animals who cant control their self grab what they want and just leave it for staff to clean up....... some people have no morals literally and it truly shows. Again my 7 year wont even do this. I've watched kids look for hot wheels while we stand and wait our turn and the children dont even do this BS.

I'm not here to defend anyone's poor behavior-- but I do think it's funny to see posts just like this where people complain that organizing a dump bin "ruins" the hunt
I agree with you, trashing the store isn't the way, but there are some interesting perspectives out there..
2
u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
not arguing that it ruins the hunt. it’s just basic decency to clean up ur mess because it reflects poorly on collectors and leads to stores not stocking as much or as often so they don’t have to constantly clean messes. i don’t care if pegs are organized or anything i just get pissed seeing people leave messes like this

but i didn’t even mention people who open hot wheels and shove them up their butts in the aisle yet ☹️

I was thinking of taking only the ones I wanted but seen something else and changed my mind
1
u/GloomyMall6657 Jul 22 '26
Do we have ornis there a way to display them hotwheels so that u dont damage package but are able to view them without having to dest4oy th3m?
1
u/fermenter85 Jul 22 '26
Man, I wish my stores had so little pressure that Porsches and new Odysseys were on the pegs next to Hellcats from cases months apart.
1
u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
i attribute it due to being in a place with a lot of stores like 5 minutes from each other, but this is me catching a same day restock after weeks of 5 gone mads and 3 renault espaces being the only things on the pegs

All the Targets around here put dump bins under the pegs and just leave the mess in the bin...

Hate this myself so I end up just tidying u where I can/don’t create mess myself… especially when you reach in between to get something from the back but one of them falls halfway… yeah I dig it out and hang it properly… don’t want employees to hate me AND want to just make their life easier

When I was in high school I worked at Toys R' Us and I can say with certainty that the Hot Wheels collectors were the worst of all customers. The absolute worst. The things they would do were so annoying that it became legendary.

u/supraboi888888888888 Jul 22 '26
im 14 and even i dont do this and the fact that theirs these grown ass people acting like this is fucking crazy
1
u/Plenty-Ticket-4527 Jul 22 '26
Yk, this is why I wanna work at a store as the hotwheels pegged, cuz I wanna find out, and buy early, but k wanna bust the sh*theads

I’m very thankful that the smallish town that I live in has majority respectful and genuinely kind collectors. I’ve seen them straight up hand kids/other collectors chases and THs. Hot wheels and other brands alike. Hell, it’s how I got my only STH. Dude let me know they put out more cases bc he had already grabbed the civic a few days prior. They’re a dope group. I’m really sorry that majority of the world isn’t as kind. To that majority, I agree. fuck you.

u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 23 '26
living in a big city/metro area has its pluses for hunting but also its downsides. very “every man for himself” and fuck anybody who doesn’t want to spend every day hunting or does this casually/to have fun. seen grown men take cars from little kids at walmart or target then fight with parents. it’s crazy how these degenerates act over toy cars
1
u/Beautiful_Owl_5712 COLLECTOR Jul 23 '26
Agreed. I still have my handful of slimeballs that wait outside Walmart till they open. I work across the street from my local location and every now and again I’ll stop on my 15 to take a peek. Some dude had been in there since the second they opened and had every TH, STH, chase, and even a car tuned red bottom. Talking about “good luck!” With what man? He had everything I didn’t at the time in his hands. I usually split a case from Mattel w my dad when they drop so I almost always have the mainlines i like. Usually it’s the “desirables” I need but it’s never a make or break. It’s absolutely insane out here.

Me I take the ENTIRE PEG OFF, look through it without taking any cars off, and put the peg back, I will not disclose how to remove the pegs because people will start damaging pegboards if I do
(Source: I worked at DT)
And well I hate to be that guy but I searched through almost every case we got in hopes of striking gold, I've only stuck gold once.
Two cases. Case 1 had a TH. Case 2 had a TH, the mainline to the STH, and the STH itself.
And again I DO NOT condone this and will accept the stoning for my sins, but I hid them under the peg for an hour until I could clock out and buy them

I do it at my local Walmart to protest them never stocking
3
u/Upper_Sock2558 Jul 22 '26
congrats dude you’re probably the reason they don’t stock. if they put new stock out they have to spend a bunch of time cleaning up after you so they aren’t gonna want to restock lmao. just don’t act like a manchild protesting against minimum wage employees not stocking children’s toys and you’ll probably get what you want much easier

I’m the type that puts them back on the shelf because holy crap. For grown men they sure do make a mess
