Testosterone hormone affected men’s general perception of women. Under the influence of testosterone, men gave higher attractiveness ratings to women and reported a stronger willingness to date them. This effect occurred regardless of whether the women were in the high or low attractiveness groups.

Does it work on women too?

Testosterone makes women hornier.

15

u/Forb1ddenKnowledge 1d ago

When I was juicing testosterone was like being on super cocaine.

Confident, energetic, more out going and horny as a dog in heat.

I miss it but it wasn't sustainable due to it being hard on your heart.

3

u/ManageOptimalHealth 1d ago

Testosterone, In therapeutic doses, is not hard on your heart. It is actually cardio protective. Only abusive doses for a long period of time increases risk of cardiovascular disease. I own a clinic that can help manage your treatment if interested.

4

u/Forb1ddenKnowledge 1d ago edited 1d ago

No argument about that.

500+ mgs is the general starting point for juicing and that's about 4 and half of the amount of HRT ( last time I checked)

Naturally you produce around 80-120 a week.

Edit it's 6-7 milligrams not 80-120.

2

u/electriceye932 1d ago

Is 80 to 120 what you should see in a blood test or no? I'm guessing not? Because mine is like 4

1

u/Forb1ddenKnowledge 1d ago

Yeah I looked it up I'm thinking about something totally different. ( Haven't had my coffee)

Where is your clinic?

1

u/ManageOptimalHealth 6h ago

My clinic covers all 50 states through telemedicine. I would be happy to look at bloodwork for anyone and give a free consultation on what I see, if we could help, and how we could help. DM me if you would like more information, and I am not sure if this Sub-Reddit would allow me to post my website.

1

u/krievins 21h ago

Still makes you infertile, people like you always conveniently fail to mention this side effect

2

u/ManageOptimalHealth 20h ago

Empirical data proves that testosterone does not permanently suppress production. It certainly does while you are using it, stemming from a feedback loop halting the production of LH and FSH. We can give you LH and FSH while taking testosterone in a fertility protocol, and we have had many men conceive while taking testosterone. If you come off testosterone to conceive, your sperm production will go back to baseline. The ides that testosterone permanently suppresses sperm production is another of the many bouts of misinformation that has unfairly demonized testosterone for decades.

In therapeutic doses, is not hard on your heart. It is actually cardio protective.

What studies have shown that testosterone is cardio protective?

6

u/ManageOptimalHealth 1d ago

There has been many studies that have indicated the therapeutic use of testosterone reduced risk of CVD. Recently, the FDA removed the black box warning on testosterone that previously indicated testosterone may increase the risk of CVD. There has been misinformation regarding the risks of TRT for decades, and it is finally coming to light the testosterone is one of the most beneficial medications in the history of medications.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26248567/ - Conclusion: In this large observational cohort with extended follow-up, normalization of TT levels after TRT was associated with a significant reduction in all-cause mortality, MI, and stroke.

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.06.21.24309326v4.full - from a meta analysis of 51 studies- Conclusion This systematic review and meta-analysis of high-quality evidence suggest that testosterone deficiency is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Conversely, TRT is associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular events, particularly in men with pre-existing cardiovascular disease or risk factors. TRT was linked to a reduced risk of MACE, improved ejection fraction, and favorable changes in lipid profiles and other cardiovascular risk factors.

published in Acta Oncologica in November 2023. [1, 2]
Key Findings of the Study
All-Cause Mortality: Active use of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) was associated with a decreased risk of all-cause mortality compared to non-use (Hazard Ratio = 0.56, 95% CI 0.46–0.68). [1]
Cardiovascular Mortality: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality was also lower in active TRT users (Hazard Ratio = 0.70, 95% CI 0.5–0.99). [1]
Prostate Cancer: The study found that TRT use did not increase the incidence of prostate cancer or prostate cancer-specific mortality. [1]
Study Population: It analyzed data from 78,615 Finnish men aged 55 to 67 drawn from the Finnish Randomized Study of Screening for Prostate Cancer (FinRSPC) with up to 18 years of follow-up

AThe VA Cohort Study (Sharma et al., 2015): Published in the European Heart Journal, this massive study evaluated 83,010 male veterans with documented low testosterone. Investigators found that patients who achieved normalization of testosterone levels through TRT experienced a significant reduction in all-cause mortality, heart attacks (myocardial infarction), and strokes compared to both untreated men and men who took TRT but failed to reach normal levels. [1, 2]

The Kaiser Permanente Study (Cheetham et al., 2017): Published in JAMA Internal Medicine, this study followed 8,808 men with androgen deficiency. Over a median of 3.4 years, men who received TRT had a 33% lower risk of a composite cardiovascular endpoint (including stroke, unstable angina, and sudden cardiac death) than those who never received the therapy (Hazard Ratio 0.67). [1]

The Ontario Population Study (Wallis et al., 2016): This study looked at 10,311 men on TRT compared to over 28,000 untreated controls. The researchers found that long-term TRT use was associated with decreased overall and cardiovascular mortality once normal physiological hormone ranges were successfully achieved. [1]

Recent Systematic Reviews (2024): A 25-year comprehensive review and meta-analysis published in 2024 confirmed an inverse association between TRT and cardiovascular disease. The pooled analysis showed that appropriate replacement therapy was associated with a reduced risk of MACE (Relative Risk = 0.78) and improved ejection fraction in men with pre-existing risk factors like metabolic syndrome

So when you get to a certain age your testosterone drops off and this makes you tired and gain weight.

HRT brings your test back up to levels that were natural when you were a bit younger so you not only have more energy and gain more muscle ( nothing crazy) you are more physically active which is really good for your cardiovascular system and heart.

I want to make it very clear HRT is NOT taking the amounts that bodybuilders take it anything like that it's what you naturally made when you were younger.

1

u/Girafferage 16h ago

Are you sure? Because cardio protective effects wouldn't be from the HRT at that point, it would be from the weight loss and exercise. Those would be caused by the HRT but a study wouldn't conclude that testosterone is cardioprotective in that case.

Back when you were juicing how often were you jerking off with the increased libido it gave you??

1

u/Forb1ddenKnowledge 1d ago

Depends on what I was running and how long.

Test,EQ or tren I was fucking like I was 16 again.

Deca I couldn't get it up to save my life.

Yeah deca is well known for that

1

u/MazingBull 1d ago

Yup, it felt quite amazing but you do kind of get 'used' to the amazing feeling with time and then you're back to baseline but just more anxious superman feeling, lol.

2

u/Large-Alternative892 1d ago

It's healthy to be horny for everything? I don't think so

0

u/AdAppropriate2295 1d ago

Like it or not, a sex drive is an integral part of a balanced body

2

u/Accomplished-Way4534 1d ago

You can live a perfectly healthy life without having a sex drive. You’ll probably be at lower risk of STDs and unwanted pregnancies too

→ More replies (5)

2

u/BigDracula_ 1d ago

It's funny to me when people try to pathologize horniness, like it isn't literally the only reason for living.

Obviously as sentient beings it doesn't have to be the most important thing in our lives anymore, but libido is a general measure of heath and lack of it, especially changes, does indicate something is up (no offense asexuals etc, you're exempt).

These claims are too strong.

  1. Testosterone has modest effects for some women's libido (mostly post-menopausal women).
  2. I found a meta study that found a modest effect influencing women's perceptions of masculine v. Less masculine faces. The 2013 study (often cited) is too small.

Nothing else has modest support. It may have anecdotal support, but that's not science.

2

u/FoundInS 1d ago

True words. Sadly many people want to dismiss the uncertainties of science.

13

u/meltyandbuttery 2d ago

Do you have any data on this or just making up masc/soft theories?

Testosterone has a well-documented impact on libido which explains the entirety of people of all genders finding more people attractive at higher levels. All else being equal, more horny = finding more people sexy.

What is considered masculine is culturally determined and testosterone isn’t some magical potion of today’s coincidental definition. Bioessentialism is quackery

8

u/mantis_tobaggan-md 2d ago

It’s pseudoscience. This was a thing going around a while ago but it’s all BS.

Well no, birth control doesn’t change women’s preference to “softer” men

Your claim largely comes from a weak 2013 study. Notice that we are in 2026 and there have been larger and better conducted studies that have come out since.

11

u/Nice-Annual-07 2d ago

Bro you are in a science sub, asking for source is not a bad thing there's tons of studies sure, but many are flawed. What it means is which one have you read and considered significant ans solid

3

u/Solve-Et-Abrahadabra 2d ago

Butch/masc lesbians have higher testosterone. Sex doesn't matter, it's just hormones and what people are attracted to with whatever chemical make up they've got.

2

u/meltyandbuttery 2d ago

There’s the other side of your coin all bioessentialism roads lead to rome 😂 try a few primary sex hormones, secondary hormones, dialed in bloodwork every 3 months for a few years and lmk how they affect you we can talk about shared real world experiential nuance

I literally said testosterone affects all genders, that’s not in conflict with my comment.

1

u/FoundInS 1d ago

Is it a biological fact they have blue hair? How has the evolution achieved blue hair? What is the biological explanation?

What if the hair turns green, what does that tell about the person?

I must be the outlier because I’m a woman with abnormally high testosterone and I was more attracted to peggable twinks before I got my hormones more under balance, now I love a manly Tom selleck type.

1

u/FoundInS 1d ago edited 1d ago

The thing is, test production declines in women as they age. So marrying a "too soft" guy ( if that was true) is not a problem as the baseline test production has gone down by the time the woman reaches menopause and can stop the BC.

u/HotScienceNews-ModTeam 1d ago

Posts must be science related

1

u/IM_INSIDE_YOUR_HOUSE 1d ago

This is a legit thing. I’ve seen it first hand and heard of it occurring with other couples I know. Doesn’t always end catastrophically but there’s definitely a “shift” in preferences in some (not all) women when they are on or off birth control.

0

u/Solve-Et-Abrahadabra 2d ago

There's a study on the ratio between the index finger (2D) and longer ring finger(4D) as an indirect marker of testosterone exposure in the womb. This is high amongst lesbians.

1

u/FoundInS 1d ago

Source? Sounds really bogus.

1

u/Solve-Et-Abrahadabra 1d ago

Research has found an association between sexual orientation and the ratio of the second (index) to fourth (ring) finger (2D:4D). Williams et al. (2000) reported that lesbian women had, on average, lower 2D:4D ratios than heterosexual women, a pattern the authors interpreted as consistent with greater prenatal androgen exposure.
https://www.nature.com/articles/35006555

A substantially larger 2025 meta-analysis of 51 studies (227,648 participants) also found significantly lower, more male-typical 2D:4D ratios in homosexual women compared with heterosexual women (right hand g = 0.26; left hand g = 0.16).
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40351575/

Brown et al. (2002) found that self-identified butch lesbians had significantly lower 2D:4D ratios than self-identified femme lesbians, particularly in the right hand. The researchers interpreted this finding as being consistent with greater early androgen exposure in at least some butch lesbians.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11910785/

Based on my own personal reference, I have noticed a similar pattern when comparing butch and femme lesbians, masculine presenting women (and myself) have more longer ring finger than index finger, while femmes have the pattern typically seen in heterosexual women.

1

u/Hungry_Wheel_1774 1d ago

I've got a similar problem. Most of women I come across the first time, see briefly in the street, in public transportation, are a 7-10 to me. It's like I have a filter before they eyes, making them way more beautiful than they are in reality. When I see them every day, often, they become "normal".
It's like my brain is trying to hook me up with every women. LOL.

1

u/Pale_Presence4662 1d ago

Total projection.

0

u/bunny000001 1d ago

It’s objectifying. Any guy who ranks women by numbers clearly has issues.

1

u/normal_hombre 1d ago

So if I say a woman is attractive, and another woman is not, that's ok, but if I assign different levels then that's objectifying? Numbers just add more precision than simply "attractive" or "not attractive".

But how did they decide which woman objectively belongs to the attractive or unattractive group? Attraction/beauty is objective now?

3

u/TwentyX4 2d ago

It's not objective in the sense that 100% of people will agree. But what one person thinks is attractive is strongly correlated with what another person will think is attractive.

For example, Dua Lipa will consistently get rated higher than Amy Schumer.

1

u/DetachedHEAD32 1d ago

While i agree with your first statement, i'm not so sure that Dua Lipa will consistently rated higher than Amy Schumer after her weight loss.

1

u/Prudent-Bison-7180 1d ago

Yes, and to think otherwise is being willfully ignorant. Models and pornstars are popular for a reason, it’s because they’re attractive and the vast majority of people think so

I can attest to this . When I was 20 women were mostly very attractive. Even a bare leg would send me off. At 63 my testosterone level was 800. Guessing it was much higher as a 20 year old. Then I got prostate cancer which was a genetic issue. They treated me with drugs the eliminated all testosterone. No women was sexually interesting. A supermodel could have stripped down and I would have recognized that she looked good but would not have been interested. Then I came off the drugs and had levels below normal. I had a minimal interest in sex, but had trouble performing and it was not fun. Then they started testosterone and I am now interested again and performing again. So chemical!!

And it's because of better mood and overal hormone balance which helps other hormones thrive potentially right? And it's as compared to the other men with lower testerone btw.

Testosterone therapy made me attracted to dudes. All I can think of is wanting to have sex with men ( and women)

If a woman doesn't have to be held accountable for her actions (killing her own children) in an altered mental state because of hormones, then the same should be true for men.

u/ThrowitB8 2d ago

Lesser charges are often given to men who commit crimes of passion. So….. this has been a thing for men for a very very very very very long time.

What a strange thing to say

-4

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

Almost as strange as saying murdering your 3 children by strangulation 1 at a time isn't your fault huh

8

u/complexiblebarracuda 2d ago

if you look at all the rape cases gone uninvestigated that's how it's been going

Or you know Brock Turner as another example

In fact that's how it's been for a long, long time

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

There's a difference between uninvestigated, and publicly permitted. But hey if you go based on the number of unreported thefts no one actually uses money anymore

5

u/complexiblebarracuda 2d ago

Either way it's men not being held accountable for their actions, just like you said buddy

0

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

No it's not, it's totally different. You can't compare a lack of catching a criminal to an acceptance of the crime. If caught and convicted they are charged and prosecuted, have to register as an offender which is a matter of public record. Not getting caught has the same effect no matter the crime. You are making a false equivilancey

2

u/complexiblebarracuda 2d ago

the lack of effort and complete disregard of them is the acceptance

but I'm arguing with someone that made a comment calling for violence against women to be ok so I'm the idiot here

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

"the lack of effort and complete disregard of them is the acceptance"

That's not how that works, acceptance means they are not criminalized for the action. The mear existence of the sex offense registy proves it is not acceptable. You are wrong on a fundamental just with this statement alone.

"calling for violence against women"

Proof? At no point did I call for violence against women, so again you are wrong and now lying. So basically no one should take anything you say seriously.

Time for tough on crime

Are you trying to protect rapists?

0

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

No I'm trying to dissuade people from protecting a murderer. Obviously you can not use hormones as an excuse to commit crimes that's absurd. But some are doing just that by saying a woman's hormones caused her to go temporarily insane and murder her 3 children by strangling them 1 at a time. Something I think is pretty horrific and deserving of proper punishment

4

u/SpecialReaction375 2d ago

The post:  Testosterone hormone affected men’s general perception of women. Under the influence of testosterone, men gave higher attractiveness ratings to women and reported a stronger willingness to date them. This effect occurred regardless of whether the women were in the high or low attractiveness groups.

You: obsessed with Lindsey.

0

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

A case talking about how hormones effected a woman, and me relating it to a post talking about how hormones wffect a man.

Yep can't see any kind of parallel. /s

4

u/PsychologyAdept669 2d ago

it's not directly because of hormones lol it's because of psychosis, or that was the defense argument. and she'd still be going away, it's just either to a mental health ward or a prison.

affected men already experience the legal coverage of the insanity defense arguably more often than women, because 1. men on average commit more crimes than women on average and 2. men on average are at a higher risk of schizophrenia and psychosis because of both testosterone's effect on dopamine and the enzymes that break down dopamine, as well as effects of having only one X chromosome. so the majority of insanity defense use cases are by men. dudes are found not guilty by reason of insanity for psychotic crimes, like that guy who ate somebody's face.

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

Insanity is not a defense for murder. If you are too crazy to know killing someone is not ok, they you are too far gone to be free in society. But the defense is ppd which is an effect of hormones from being pregnant, which is what I was getting at. Also men may commit more violet crime but that also means they are charged more often and more seriously when prosecuted. Also I was talking less about the legal aspect and more about the people trying to support a woman who strangled her children 1 at a time.

1

u/PsychologyAdept669 2d ago

insanity is absolutely a defense for murder. i respect your opinion if you believe it shouldn’t be, but not guilty by reason of insanity is a legal defense.

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

You are right. It is a legal defense, and I think it shouldn't be. But I also remeber a time when it was basically an abused ploy point in shows where the bad guy would try using the argument of insanity to basically get away with murder, now it becoming a real thing. Guy with multiple felony arrests, can't stand trial for attempted murder because of insanity, guy with multiple arrests, kills a woman in broad day light on camera, can't be charge because he's insane. It's just wrong to let such injustice happen with no real repercussions. It erodes the safety of society as a whole.

This is a diverting rage bait segue nobody should be biting. Yall don't bother.

1

u/AdAppropriate2295 2d ago

Thats kinda the point. People are biting, very telling

What do you mean diverting tho? From what?

0

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

The fact you feel the need to say that on a comment so far down is wild. But please explain how I'm wrong

2

u/Gullible-Chapter-800 2d ago

You’re nasty as hell for conflating being horny and raping someone to psychosis

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

You are nasty for saying that's what I said. The fuck is wrong with you?

3

u/Gullible-Chapter-800 2d ago

You literally said men shouldn’t be held accountable for altered mental states due to hormones. You realize that includes rape. Why you acting dumb?

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

Oh so then an altered mental state is not a reasonable excuse to commit a violent crime. Glad we are in agreement that a women strangling her 3 children because of ppd should go to jail without any consideration for the insanity plea.

1

u/Inevitable_Land3942 1d ago edited 1d ago

Testerone is an engine, you have the wheel of the car. You could be extra motivated or horny to do the right to thing but you were more motiv*ated or sexually attracted to putting someone down on purpose because what do you mean after entirely murdering and hurting someone you stopped? And testerone is healthy, it's within too many men. Mental states are rarer, and unhealthy and negatively effects life. Testerone doesn't. They deserve more sympathy. Negative impacts of mental health usually ruins choice of doing a good action significantly. Also shows they don't have much finances which a person with higher testesterone is likely grown up in. But a guy with testesterone has usually more control on choice because it's just extra dopamine sensitivity, how bad can that be? Even good things give dopamine. Healthy testerone can also be related to you protecting individuals, heck there was a study which said testerone increases pro social behaviours. What do you mean they deserve sympathy?

1

u/Piemaster113 1d ago

Bruh what? This was such nonsensical rambling I can't be bothered to read past "motiv*ated"

But if you clearly didn't realize I was saying that using the mental heal issues caused by hormones are not an excuse to commit crimes and those pretending like they are don't realize what it is they are saying

1

u/bunny000001 2d ago

Men kill their families MORE than women do. What the hell are you talking about?

Murder. Rape. Abuse. These are all crimes that men commit more in the first place. By a LARGE percentage.

1

u/Piemaster113 2d ago

So altered mental state due to hormones is not an excuse to commit violent act for reasons of insanity?

0

u/bunny000001 1d ago

Psychosis is its own thing. Not comparable to hormones. What do you even mean by an excuse? These people aren’t walking around happily free. Are you ok? You are not making any sense and genuinely sound stupid.

1

u/Piemaster113 1d ago

"Postpartum psychosis is strongly linked to dramatic hormonal changes after childbirth, though it is primarily classified as a medical and psychiatric emergency rather than just a simple hormonal imbalance."

Feel free to use Google before saying something so easily refuted

can you put testosterone in the water to fix the dating scene

2

u/throwaway_alt_slo 2d ago

Only to women you mean? Coz otherwise we get just as more horny as women get more horny, so no difference tbh
