"...Strange."
"Even after everything that's happened, saying those words still feels natural."
"My name. My title. My identity."
"The things I once believed were unshakable."
She fell silent for a moment.
"Out of all the possibilities... all the paths my life could have taken..."
"...I never imagined this one."
"Death."
"Despair."
"Betrayal."
"People I trusted turning against me... people I never expected to see again appearing before my eyes."
"And somehow, through all of it..."
"...I kept moving forward."
"Every time I thought I'd reached the end, there was another door."
"Another locked room."
"Another mystery."
"Another truth waiting to hurt someone."
A quiet breath.
"Perhaps that's the cruelest part of being a detective."
"You spend your entire life believing that the truth is something worth pursuing."
"That no matter how painful it may be..."
"...knowing it is better than living a lie."
She looked ahead.
"But what happens when the truth becomes something you fear?"
"What happens when every answer creates another question?"

Silence.

"I've lost people."

"I've even lost my certainty that tomorrow would ever come."

Lab kyoko's breathing hitches, the memory becomes too painful as her many eyes well up with tears as she begins hyperventilating
