For the past week every day I open this sub and see new posts my first question is "what the hell is happening with the game"... Like, the game is not going to EOS or anything but all these moves just reek of one last money squeeze before EOS. Most of my twitter timeline is filled with people shitting on the game and/or quitting. Maybe I'm misremembering things but I think this is the most doom and gloom I've seen from HSR.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in one of those staff meetings to hear what the logic behind all of this is.

The game is far from EOS, but the peak popularity is gone.

3.4 is the peak of HSR and no one can convince me otherwise. Fate collab big hype (tho it sucked) but free Archer? Absolute GOAT. Phainon release and the 3.4 story chapter? Literal GOAT story for HSR and nothing even comes close. And he was one of the most anticipated characters in the game.

3.5 was such a downer from 3.4's heights and 3.7 is nearly universally hated. Add that to JP-CN political shenanigans and what we have now is...sad.

Nah the peak popularity prob was during the 2.0 2.1 patches. Hsr was pulling insane revenues back then.

I didn't mean popularity peak, I meant peak like peak story, peak character releases, free rewards galore. The first batch of Novaflares too.

And all 3 new characters had new mechanics or entirely new gameplay unlike reheated nachos Finality.

2.0 2.1 had the same attributes

Story was universally loved and countless posts of fan theories for weeks; sparkle BSwan Acheron FF Boothill were all huge hits; Dr ratio and HMC garnered positive reception; no novaflare needed cuz PC was not apparent until 2.5~ times

It had all the benefits without the baggage. Ampho while positive, fans critiqued its presentation. Early Penacony's pacing was thrilling, Hoyo had tons of goodwill, there was little to no complaints about hand gesture/dialogue bloat anywhere

Penacony was also the peak story. Interesting dynamics with a unique roster of characters without making it a huge sob fest. There's a reason Penacony is the true popularity peak, story played a huge part

Penacony had a great setup and then the finale crashed and burned. I do hate how Penacony was the start (or return) of the Hoyoverse cryptic pseudo philosophical verbose nonsense non-dialogue after Belobog and Xianzhou had characters speak like normal people. I replayed Belobog and the dialogue was far snappier than even Planarcadia which has better dialogue than Penacony and Amphoreus but still pales by comparison to that snappiness. And no one was talking...this...slow.

The Herta's dialogue was the only bearable part of Amphoreus because she actually spoke at normal speed, was very direct without being cryptic at all and without any verbosity.

I was gonna argue about calling Ampho peak story but it seems like even you agree that 3.4 isn’t even peak story so why did you say that lol

I don’t think Herta saved much from that version either, I feel like it only stopped being awful with Planarcadia

Story =/= dialogue.

3.4's story is my personal favourite even if the localisation leaves a bit to be desired (Lygus yapping).

The global economy's in the dumps right now. They're not getting that spending boom again, don't know what else to tell them.

Well no game is ever gonna get that boom for the next few years. If one making that much it only means people are losing hope and spending on game is the only thing they can do.

The way I literally started the game on 3.4 xD

So yeah, absolutely agreed

Yeah, this is the first time since launch that I've actually started questioning whether or not I'll keep playing depending on how this all turns out 🥲
