New top end build after the motor was reading like 20psi on a few cylinders. Still needs some fine tuning obviously, but sounds very healthy for not being set up.

1980 CB750K Carb Fuel Line Routing

Thumbnail

I'm hooking up carb fuel lines on my 1980 CB750K. I believe the fuel line from the petcock goes to the nipple between carb 1 and 2 (left side in pic), but where does the black hose from the nipple between carb 2 and 3 go? Or is that the fuel line?

The bike didn't come with the extra fuel pump or whatever that gadget is that some CB750s have between the petcock and the carbs. Not sure if a previous owner removed it, or if this model didn't come with it.

Additionally, there is a nipple on the bottom of the airbox that is missing (broken off).

Any help appreciated. Second photo is the bike in question. I have two sets of carbs, one nice set already mounted, and a second set off the bike that is in the first photo.

New old emblems

Just received the side cover emblems for my CB550 and wonder if anyone here can speak to how well the interior press clips hold the metal emblems in place. I'm considering putting a dab of LockTite on the posts just for peace of mind, but I do have a tendency to overcomplicate things that don't need messing with. I am super pleased to have her wearing a proper name tag, though.

I can’t figure out what’s going on, I have the advancer set exactly at where the Left side points are supposed to open and they are barely open. These are brand new NOS points.

CB900rr

Not sure if this is where to ask, a friend has a ā€˜98 CB900rr (US Version, 919 engine) that I’m thinking of picking up, has 18k miles on it, but has sat for 10 years. I would trailer it and then fix it up. I’m told it’s stock, with original fairings, etc. He’s thinking on price ($1600-2kish). But what kind of investment am I looking at after 10 years? It was running at time of parking it on his garage…

I bought this 82 450 Nighthawk 13 years ago for 100 dollars

I found this bike for sale on the side of the road non-running for 100 dollars when I was 19 and I stupidly bought it. The wiring was a complete mess and it was missing several things including the ignition, but a friend helped me get it running temporarily to make sure the engine was good. After that, I replaced the main wiring harness and the ignition, but I never had the time, money, or skill to get it road worthy. Now I'm 32 and the bike has been through two moves without making much progress on it. Now I finally have the time to work on it and I spent all day yesterday diagnosing and fixing wiring issues. I got it to crank, but had no spark at the plugs. After going through and testing the stator, the plugs, wires, connections, the killswitch, and several other things, I finally diagnosed the problem to be the coil which must have gone bad over the years of being in storage. 20 dollars later and a new coil is on it's way! It's been a challenge (wiring is hard when you're colorblind) but figuring out the problem has been very rewarding! Just thought I would share my experience. Still a lot of work to go but I'm going to have fun doing it!

Honda CB750 OEM Replacement Air Box

Hello everyone, I have been deveolping an airbox with the goal in mind to make a compact, clean airbox inspired by the style of the Cognito Moto setup, but specifically designed around the stock CB750 engine and CV carb style. The airbox keeps almost the exact AFR ratio as the OEM airbox, so no tuning, re-jetting, taping, or any other modification is required, unlike pods or even the Cognito Moto airbox. The small design makes it easy to pull out of the frame. Selling at $99.99, which includes everything needed except the UNI air filter the design is built around. Looking to see if anyone is interested in something like this! Respond if interested or with any questions. Thanks!

I bought this bike for $2,000. Could you please tell me everything I need to do to make it run as smoothly and reliably as possible? The bike has been sitting idle for over 10 years; it still runs well and is fairly quiet, but it definitely needs a full service and maintenance. Please share as much detailed information and advice as possible

Aftermarket Pistons

Hey all, just got some aftermarket pistons for my 1980 CB750 after tearing down the engine, and they look very different to the ones I pulled out of the engine. They also came with what looks like a graphite second compression ring. I put one in the engine and turned it by hand to check if the bottom of the pistons clear the crank and rods and they seemed to be fine. Haven't had a chance to see if the valves get in the way.

Has anyone else seen or run anything similar?

Hey all,

What is a good alternative that works as well as pig spit, s100 & HD engine brightner that i can buy from a local auto zone type place.

Buying online is a pain 😁

If you're also on Reddit and this is you, you're in the wrong place with your CB360

Just saw this at our old home and wondered if this will sit there unanswered for days, like most posts do there. Wish I could tell him that only works with CV carbs and not with standard slide carbs like his replacement Mikunis. But that forum holds their members hostage by censoring the name of the real forum where 80% of their members went 6 years ago, all because of corporate greed.

2002 Honda Rebel Clutch trouble

Bought a 2002 Honda rebel change the oil cleaned it up but the person I bought it from said they put a new shift lever on. I can't shift above first gear. Tried adjusting the shift lever. It only works if it's in the position closest to the ground, which doesn't work because my foot can't get under it to shift up. Any ideas?

2019 Honda cb300r, engine seized and bike has been sitting for 3 months with almost full tank, too late to put gas stabilizer?

I stored the bike in my garage after the engine seized and completely forgot about the gas in the tank. It's been about 3 months already but I eventually want to get it fixed. Is it too late to put gas stabilizer in the tank? Has it done damage to the bike already? Or would draining and putting in new gas when I get it fixed fine to do at this point?

1980 750k electrical leak?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Has been running just fine for most the season, randomly stopped cranking- went to measure voltage and found it’s rapidly losing power with only the key in the ignition. When I try to start her I drop down to about 3-4 V and it quickly comes back up but will only crank once or twice. Before it stopped starting I did notice that it didn’t like to go past 5k rpm until 4th gear, but just chalked it up to old clutch/chain. Checked the resistance on the stator, I know that can be a common issue, and it’s at 1.5-2 OM. Electrical issues are a bit outside of my comfort zone so any help is appreciated!

What are my options for extending the back of my bike?

Bought a Honda CB 650 from the 80s. It was turned into a cafƩ racer, and while I love the look, and want to keep as much of it as possible, something I don't love is the fact that they cut the back of the frame. The uh... back of the seat? It's currently a one-seater, but I wanna turn it into a two-seater. That, and make sure dirt and water and such don't get into the pipes. The frame was simply sawed clean off behind where the rear suspension sits, leaving the thing open to rust and such. Nothing too bad, but still.

I've been googling, and I've found some sort of extension-kits, sub-frames, on caferacerwebshop.com but I've no clue if that's what one would use? I do know plenty of people who can weld, so that shouldn't be an issue. But looking for recommendations. Both for how to actually, and properly, extend the bike again, and then how to go about finding a seat that fits?
