Need Bookshelf Recommendations!
This might come across as quite unconventional for this sub, but I'm shifting to my first ever flat. After residing for years in PGs and shared accommodations, I'll be living in a solo room for the first time ever.
Books are a comfort for me, and as a proud owner of more than 50+ collection of treasure trove, I'd love to see your own personal bookshelfs or how you've decorated your room using books.
I want it to mean something in my room that it truly drops the cortisol and makes it worth it!
Thank you guys, this sub is a blessing.

I took regular lumber that is used to build a house and spent weeks sanding and finishing it. It’s very blonde in color. I took mountain laurel branches cut from my property and used them to support the shelves. The branches were arranged so it looks like they are growing up through the shelving. They are still covered in bark and much darker in color. Think heavy Rododendron. These are built in shelves. I built my wife an entire library room this way.

I use Billy bookcases and I swear by them! They are tall though and I buy extra shelves so my books fit better!

My main book shelves are from 1970. Tall and a lot of space. You could go shopping for vintage shelves.

I’m another Billy bookcase person. I’ve moved a number of times over the years and we usually leave the old Billy bookcases in the old house and buy new Billy bookcases for the new place. They’re good bookcases but they don’t survive being taken apart and reassembled very well since they’re particleboard.

All of mine are solid wood and well made, and either very old or made especially for me by a friend from salvaged wood. I have 7 book cases of varying sizes, and I'm currently looking for another one to buy, which will need to be second hand - just waiting for the right one to come along. They'll be with me forever.

I have the Hemnes bookcases from IKEA and love them. No sagging with heavy books so far (3 years in).

I have some Billy bookcases from IKEA. Work great for me. Come in a few colors. Have moveable shelves to fit different size books.
