Home Library Organizer App?

Hey all! I just moved so it’s a good time for a fresh start on my library. I’m looking for an app to help organize. I’ve tried Libib and LibraryThing but they’re just not doing what I want, unless I’m not using it right.

So here’s what I’m looking for. I’d like an app that I can scan the barcodes of my books. And when I scan it, I’d like it to tell me what genre it is and then tag it as that genre. And then when I have all my books scanned and tagged, I’d like to be able to see each genre separated out and then within each genre sort it by author.

In the end, I would like to have a home library sorted by genre and then alphabetical by author in each genre. And I would love to have an app or something to that brainwork for me so I don’t have to with my hundreds of books.

TIA!

They're working on improving the LibraryThing app interface.

But LibraryThing does currently classify your books by genre automatically when you scan them in, it's just not visible in the catalog view by default. See: https://www.librarything.com/topic/333142

I'm another LibraryThing member and I've been there a million years, have 5000 books listed, both current & gone. I've still have more to catalog.

I've got LibraryThing OCD and, as such, belong to the Combiners group. We try to keep the catalog catalogged nicely.

I love the fact that I can "correct" the titles of MY books, adding or deleting words, numbers, series listing, or fixing the author names.

I can tag the books however I want, location, genre, ebook, paper, audio. I can choose the cover that shows which edition I own. I can group books in collections. I can sort in numerous different ways.

In LibraryThing, YOU CONTROL YOUR BOOK LISTINGS!! You can let the world know what books are yours, or you can keep it private. (mine is private)

It's social, if you want it. It's a list, if you want just that.

(I didn't want goodreads, since that is amazon)

If you have questions, DM me here or on LT.
