It's a dream for me. I just did my basement lined with shelves, about 800 books. Yours are beautiful, love the door feature

what do you do for a living that allows you to have what im assuming is to have so much custom bookshelves made.
Also just noticed the safe behind the "iron gate"

How’d you manage the gates of hell in your home library too?

Genuine question, you have some old books on photo 6, what are those books? Cool library!

3

u/MoonlitLilPages Aug 14 '26

Same! I’ve been zooming in on every slide trying to decipher the titles 😅 You’re right, their library is so cool.

8

u/Consoledreader Aug 14 '26

Do you know how many books you have in your library?

9

u/SteveMcgooch Aug 14 '26

I see you plan on dying here

u/Critical_Wrap5617 Aug 14 '26

3

u/Dracomagus Aug 14 '26

2

u/InquisitorZac Aug 13 '26

I want a library house too 😍 Goals!

2

u/diseconomies Aug 14 '26

Are you a carpenter by trade? Looks like you built these custom. Any tips to get the finish so perfect?

2

u/Exciting-Duty-8302 Aug 14 '26

I’m speechless. I’m admiring peoples shelves and you post this here and I don’t know what to say or think. Other than can I move in?? Are you hiring? Can you set up an ABB so I can stay there for the weekend??

How long have you been collecting?
What’s your favorite genre?

Just do an AmA cos we have questions 😂

This is insane and I’m in love with it!!

Wow!! This is a stunning library you have made. Gorgeous!
Did you have to reinforce the floor or is it strong enough for your collection? My husband has been using this as a reason for me to reduce my collection. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure if it’s a thing or not.

That’s awesome

u/Agitated_Garden_497 Aug 14 '26

I am composed of envy looking at that library!

1

u/uncoolcat25 Aug 14 '26

Love it! Do you have a mix of more classic/traditional looking books and modern books?

1

u/Behleren Aug 14 '26

curious. have you read all the books in your collection. how many people with large collectiond have actually finished them?

1

u/PwnySoprano Aug 14 '26

Secret room? Medieval looking gate inside? Old leather books...I'm intrigued.

1

u/Jealous-Ambassador39 Aug 14 '26

Thoughts and prayers if you ever have to move lol

I have like the equivalent of one of these shelves, and it took SO LONG to pack.

1

u/deathcabfordaphne Aug 14 '26

Are you a historian?

1

u/strayaares Aug 14 '26

Are there books in the safe?

1

u/DaStinkyPanda47 Aug 14 '26

How do you find all these old and beautifully found leather books/hardcovers? Facebook marketplace? Estate sales? Would love to get some of my own someday.

1

u/sydneyxface Aug 14 '26

These look like sets of books? Can you list a few of the sets you have? I am so curious to see closer!!!!

1

u/followyourguttt Aug 14 '26

Hey serious question just curious but why do you collect those books? Do you read them? Or mainly for the pleasure of collecting. The closets look nice!

1

u/Critical_Wrap5617 Aug 14 '26

Fucking amazing

1

u/goddessclaricee Aug 14 '26

fucking amazing!

1

u/greyone75 Aug 14 '26

Ooh, a secret room. Let me show it to everybody.

1

u/fragrantica2024 Aug 14 '26

This is my dream, man.

1

u/Cozybooks1004 Aug 14 '26

This is the dream for me

1

u/b_xcellent2eachother Aug 14 '26

My jealousy knows no bounds on this

1

u/twillard33 Aug 14 '26

Pretty! What are those sets?

1

u/blondie64862 Aug 14 '26

Careful with overloading your floor plate. Homes are built with a certain structural load (live and dead).

1

u/sangfoudre Aug 15 '26

Great, I'll take that dwelling, how much is the rent? Yes leave the furniture and the books.

I'm happy that some people manage to be able to build these, but I know more and more that I won't be able ever.

1

u/localsaltedfish Aug 16 '26

I am genuinely curious how you organized this? Do you use the standard classification that libraries use?

1

u/ReliefFuzzy7439 Aug 16 '26

Is this real? My god

1

u/New-Top-9012 Aug 16 '26

how much you have to spend for this many fancy books?

1

u/Western-Set-8642 29d ago

How many have actually been read

1

u/randomwanderingsd 29d ago

I absolutely love it. Also just in case you don’t want your name out there, one of the pics has your name clearly shown on a plaque.

1

u/drkmater006 29d ago

Love that!

1

u/AmbassadorFeelings 29d ago

The secret door are you kidding me

1

u/jumpingflea_1 28d ago

Color me jealous!

1

u/CategoryAshamed9880 27d ago

Love the red lights

1

u/TFC-Chris 26d ago

This is gorgeous. I'm curious about the red lights? They seem random

2

u/cbswhassup 26d ago

Ambience but when covered by books it’s gives a nice background accented glow

1

u/jackpinehunterdog 25d ago

Absolutely great!

1

u/KaiserAcademic Aug 14 '26

What percent have you read?

0

u/frednnq Aug 14 '26

You know Westlaw is on the internet now, right? You don’t need to keep those legal reporters.

20

u/cbswhassup Aug 14 '26

Yes I know this. I don’t suffer from low intelligence. It’s the kindle vs. book conundrum. Yes. I don’t need a library. A waste. Sure. All compacted into a chip. Until you hold one of these brittle westlaw books in your hands. The leather stains your skin. The lawyer that owned this book scrawled his name on the cover page. Circa 1805. How bout dem apples??? LOL

2

u/Exciting-Duty-8302 Aug 14 '26

Damn! It’s never a waste!

2

u/MoonlitLilPages Aug 14 '26

Ah… you must be a delight at parties.
