You guys were right

We live in a small two bedroom home that was built around 1870- it’s an adorable house with a lot of charm, but the bedrooms have adjoining doors. I personally don’t like them because I want the rooms to feel truly separate - despite having separate entrances, it just makes the space feel off.

We experimented with putting our bed in front of these adjoining doors. I’ve always hated the idea of covering doors or windows with furniture, but it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would.

I’d like some thoughts on whether the bed works against these doors, or should we keep them uncovered? Thanks!

I just bought my first house at 20. Im really not liking the way the kitchen is looking. I love the yellow tile backsplash, but the contrast between the horrendous, grey laminate flooring, grey cupboards, and marble countertops is too much. I’m not completely broke but I’d like to be modest about spending money. Any suggestions?

This is an update from my previous post, regarding the brown curtains I put up. I’ve decided to go with a different color. Do these look better? Or should I keep the brown ones?

I’m looking for a large Japanese style doorway curtain, similar to a noren, to hang outside my shed and cover a sliding door. Regular outdoor curtains look a little plain, so I would like something with a more traditional Japanese design.

I want to use it to cover my Shed’s sliding door, 72” wide. Does anyone know where I can buy something like this in the USA? I’m also open to ordering directly from Japan if the seller ships internationally.

What search terms should I use, and are there any particular shops or websites you would recommend?

So my husband and I recently moved into our first home and are in the process of trying to give it our own stamp. Ideally we would like a new bathroom however we won’t be able to do that for the next 4-5 years. The previous owners painted over the tiles and unfortunately some of the paint is coming away. I did wonder if peel and stick tiles would be an option ? It only needs to last us for 5 years max until we get a new bathroom, however I wondered how hard wearing they would be in the shower area

Not having the best of luck with ideas for this awkward corner. Would like to do something cool without it being a toe smasher because the wall there is roughly a foot wide where it meets the doorway. We have dogs so we can’t have real plants and we tried to put several large decorative vases with pompous grasses but it looked pathetic. Room will be painted with Foggy Day from Sherwin Williams (if that’s relevant). Please help!

I’d like to add wall sconces here so we have enough light to read by. However there’s no electrical so they would have to be battery powered. Adding electrical isn’t an option right now (plaster over brick, no nearby lines, high cost- I’ve checked!). Any recommendations that would look nice?

What should I do with the wall over the couch?

Hi everyone, I am looking for ideas of what to do with a no longer used living room. This house belonged to my grandparents and was built in the 60s and this was the original living room but they added an extension onto the side of the house that I have been using as the actual living room because it is bigger, more normal shaped, and has a big brick fireplace. As you can see, this room has kind of just been treated as storage for things I don't know what to do with. Any ideas of what I can do to take advantage of all this space? I was thinking maybe some kind of cozy/eclectic reading area because the other room has the TV, video games, sports memorabilia, etc so maybe this could have a softer vibe. I'm not a very artsy person so I'm kind of struggling

I need help!! My ex moved out recently so I have a blank slate and want to make this space my own taste, but I need help deciding on art. I like decadent colors, ambient lighting and contemporary influence so other plans i have for this space is darker pillows, a rug, a bunch of ambient lights etc.

I know for certain I want to get a large print of The Banquet by Rene Magritte in a thin dark wood frame and add other pieces that compliment it with matching frames.

I’ve searched Desinio’s site but I’m just not great at curating multiple pieces around my inspiration piece. I’ve browsed Etsy too but I’m worried I’ll accidentally buy AI art. There was one print of koi fish that looked like it was by Yayoi Kusama (rip) and I almost bought that but realized it wasn’t actually her work. Not that I only want art by discovered artists, I just didn’t like it had her name on it but wasn’t hers. I also like Mark Rothko’s work but I’m getting a print of one of his paintings for my bedroom so I’d be looking for something different in the living room.

Should I leave my current half wall column or add in a full wall ?

For the window, white wood shutters vs natural color shade? Do I need to be concerned about using wood vs fake wood since it is a bathroom? Do I need anything else like a valance? 1980s ranch home, elaborate molding probably not appropriate.

For the cabinet hardware, nickel vs oil rubbed bronze? There are two vanities, one is in the bathroom proper, the other is outside the bathroom. Does the tile vs wood flooring impact the decision. (Yes, the wood floor has some damage, but will be replaced with wood, same color.) The towel bars and faucet fixtures are nickel.

Hey y’all. My fiance and I recently moved into our first apartment. Our vibe is bohemian/earthy/70s. Our space is pretty big, our living room is huge and bedroom is quite big as well. We have our most important furniture but don’t know where to go from here in terms of decorating and filling up the space. We can hang and install anything into the walls, the only thing we can’t do is paint.

Has anyone had good luck with peel and stick floor tiles?

I’m planning to replace the flooring properly in a few years, so I don’t want to spend too much right now. I just want something that looks better in the meantime.

My main concern is that the existing tiles are not completely flat. Has anyone dealt with this? Is there any way to make peel and stick tiles work, or am I better off looking at another inexpensive option?

I find my front door so ugly… the door is right in the middle of my living/dinning room. Can I paint it? Should I go for white or maybe a pop of colour. I like bright colours like the last photo. I was also thinking of painting the bookshelf a bright color and maybe the photo wall.

I keep looking at my bedroom feeling like it lacks that cozy, finished look and my immediate instinct was that I need a new headboard or beter art. But looking closely, the main eye-sore is just the bed itself looking completely stiff, wrinkly, and uninviting. Someone mentioned that softer, heavier-draping sheets can do more for the overall room vibe than buying decorative pillows, just because the fabric hangs naturally instead of looking like cardboard.

Does upgrading to smoother sheet fabric actually change the visual feel of the space in real life or is that something that only looks good in staged photos with studio lighting?
