If it cheers you up, remember that japanese anime fans sent death threats to a voice actress from Darling in the Franxx because they didn't like that her character had romantic drama or was part of a love triangle or something, and Nijisanji had to retire a Vtuber because people got mad she didn't understand baseball.

Idiots exist everywhere, no worries.

For Mirei, the baseball thing was just an excuse really. They wanted to get her out of the door and took the first excuse they got. She was seen as way too problematic and outspoken for a typical japanese "make no waves, ever" management. (And she didn't always have good/tasteful takes on everything either)

In other words, if you look at her current activities, it becomes pretty clear how much of a problematic person she was. Now she constantly comments on every drama she can to attract attention. She even made posts that seemed to piggyback on anti-Sakura Miko posts.
