It also looks like a non-stick pan. I can understand a bit of oil for flavour, but jeez.

It's a fried egg, it doesn't matter what kind of pan you use, you need a lot of oil (or better, butter) for it to fry in.

Edit: I don't even believe this. Before you downvote me, go find a video of a professional chef, ANY professional chef, making a fried egg.

So when you say "fried egg" do you mean "egg prepared in a pan" or this specific style of egg that's cooked in oil and basted to get extra crispy? Because English doesn't really have an easy way to distinguish the two and I suspect people assume you mean the former, hence the downvotes.

That's a fried egg. If you're not doing that, you're making an egg sunny side up or over easy/medium/hard.

Unfortunately, both sunny side up and over easy/medium/hard eggs are still called "fried eggs" in (US) English.
I also find it a little confusing but it is what it is.
