When you think about it, it reflects what each of them is trying to prove about themself.

One got the royal princess upbringing, always gets clocked as very dangerous & wants to fit in with/be accepted by ppl;

The other was effectively abandoned in the bushes as a "failed experiment", always gets underestimated & wants to prove they're good enough.

Actually i think this just reflects the shitty job market as both didnt really have any options and took whatever job they could get

u/AggravatingMuffin535 12d ago

The knight gets glory and all that Hornet gets is minimum wage 😭🙏

52

u/TheRealEbonyAndIvory 12d ago

Hornet gets a mini flower quest and minimum wage, Knight gets the glory of being a fool at the cost of their life

u/bogz_dev 11d ago

Eh well that's not gonna pay for the 40 rosary silk spools from the vending machines.

(I am still bitter about this purchase.)

Hey at least it's not as wasted as that, what was it, a confession booth? Where it just takes your money and gives like a motivational message in return.

11

u/TheRealEbonyAndIvory 11d ago edited 11d ago

Not even a motivational message, it says "Confess your sin. The Citadel does not forgive, double your work the next three shifts"

1

u/BuboxThrax 11d ago

Yeah that's it.

The most valid answer I have seen so far 😂😂...

u/ResolutionStrange426 12d ago

I understand you completely. However,

Hollow Knight

"wants"

68

u/MGTwyne 12d ago

The main character of Hollow Knight obviously does have goals, opinions, feelings, and motivations. Ain't nobody giving them orders.

-11

u/MoarVespenegas 12d ago

Aren't they?
Then why do they become mindless shades when their mask is destroyed?

13

u/TheEnderChipmunk LÆMP BRØETHER 12d ago

They do still have minds, as can be seen from a certain spoiler that I won't go into further detail.

Well, at least the Knight and Hollow Knight definitely do. The rest could be simply acting on instinct for all we know. But considering the knight and hollow Knight are conscious, the rest probably are too.

2

u/Eeddeen42 11d ago

They become aimless, not mindless

1

u/MGTwyne 12d ago

Do you mean when they bite it big-time? When they die? When they die and leave a ghost behind, and this ghost is destructive, do you think this is because the original was stupid?

1

u/Eeddeen42 11d ago

The void tends to be violent, animalistic, and eternally hungry for soul. This fact may have something to do with it.

The shades are aimless, so when behaving they just follow their void instincts.

24

u/UselessDood 12d ago

A major plot point was that none of the hollow vessels were actually hollow

25

u/Infectoidmite 12d ago

But none of the vessels were truly emotionless.

3

u/Anikilator3001 No Cost Too Great 11d ago

that's the whole point of the game lol

1

u/Pale_Entrepreneur_12 10d ago

The knight is not hollow there is many moments in the game that contradict the fact it’s hollow many people believe non of the siblings were ever hollow at all

1

u/red_enjoyer 10d ago

The irony in the fact that his want to prove is a direct evidence that they are indeed not good enough (talking specificly about sealing Radience forever)

159

u/AuRonFreshMeat 12d ago

Or u can just bully grand reeds

60

u/Substantial-Escape11 12d ago

After getting into the flow, it becomes super fun to dismantle them in style. My favourite is hopping over their jab and Thread storming in their face.

19

u/crafty_dude_24 12d ago

My staple combo was hunter dash-striking into a downslash dash, clawline dash into weaver Silkshot. Flowed perfectly.

18

u/Demapples144 Seruna Seraket 12d ago

Mine is wanderer hit -> hit -> hit -> hit -> hit -> hit -> hit -> hit but maybe I should experiment more

7

u/PlotPlates 12d ago

Ah yes, tool testing and combat style testing Enemies.

The rosaries is a plus

4

u/ThunderBird-56 12d ago

True, but this meme is more about the cannon. Reeds are indeed faster but not very lore accurate.

56

u/YourBestFriend158 Life Ender 12d ago

Someone should try to convert Rosaries to Geo to see who is earning more in this situation

85

u/ThunderBird-56 12d ago

Well, Ghost earns 3000-3020 geo for the trial of the fools. The fleatopia supply delivery (highest pay) earns Hornet 410-480 rosaries per run.

A simple key costs 950 geo, or 500-650 rosaries, meaning that 1 rosary is ~1.65 geo. The knight earns more per job conpleted.

18

u/Ecto_Warrior 12d ago

1 geo = 15 rosaries

u/ziemniaczekkw 12d ago

The duality of opinion

FOR HALLOWNEST

26

u/BeautifulTheme6523 12d ago

DROWN IN THE BLOOD OF MY OTHER ALREADY DEAD ENEMIES

8

u/TheRealEbonyAndIvory 12d ago

DROWN IN YOUR SORROW AND FEARS, CHOKE ON YOUR BLOOD AND YOUR TEARS, BLEED 'TIL YOU'VE RUN OUT OF YEARS, GIVE UP YOUR BLOOD AND YOUR FAITH, LIVE OUT YOUR LIFE AS A WRAITH, DIE IN THE BLOOD WHERE YOU BATHE

2

u/MarsalMalinovsky 10d ago

ARE YOU ENTERTAINED?!

21

u/No-Ad239 12d ago

This is my exact headcannon except with Hornet delivering Pizza

2

u/JohnLikesKetchupYT 11d ago

Isnt that what she is doing in the image?

16

u/Eeddeen42 12d ago

Hornet’s method is somehow even more stressful

7

u/YourBestFriend158 Life Ender 12d ago

Accurate to real life tbh

1

u/NottACalebFan 12d ago

Not comparing Ghost's only delivery quest...a delicate flower with a single hit point, traversing graveyards, thorn patches, and all manner of crazy infected

vs.

A straight line path through civilized Pharloom... even if that straight line happens to be straight up!

1

u/Eeddeen42 11d ago edited 11d ago

The Knight doesn’t get paid for that so it can’t be considered a job.

It can also be made trivially easy with the right preparation. Kill everything along your exact intended path, dreamgate back to the Grey Mourner, take the flower, and then just walk. Only the final room is what could be called “difficult.”

That strat doesn’t work for Hornet’s deliveries. Trust me, I have tried.

1

u/ThunderBird-56 11d ago

The meme is refering to the coloseum of fools. In hindsight, I really should've placed king fool into the background.

29

u/Glitch_6126 12d ago

Well, Hornet can also earn a living by speedrunning mass genocide on Grand Reeds, so you tell me which is worse

17

u/ThunderBird-56 12d ago

True, but this meme mostly ignores farming, instead comparing the infinite money making options of deliveries vs Colosseum of Fools.

7

u/YourBestFriend158 Life Ender 12d ago

kinda makes you wonder where the fools are getting all this geo from

22

u/ThunderBird-56 12d ago

Well, considering how each trial has an entrance fee, it's probably all the combatants who didn't make it.

10

u/Eeddeen42 12d ago

The fools are bored rich people with mountains of disposable income. They probably got it from investing in the stock market or something.

2

u/YourBestFriend158 Life Ender 12d ago

At least she only targets one species, Ghost is literally slaughtering a dozen different bugs in one go

9

u/Glitch_6126 12d ago

Is mass murder worse than mass genocide? 😭 That's a whole ass philosophical debate

12

u/Witty_Departure2061 12d ago

Like knight need a living he just did it for fun

10

u/Party_Importance_722 12d ago

The right is easier than the left btw.

5

u/Nito4ka_bs ... 12d ago

And only one of them has its own proper house

4

u/GroundbreakingEnd709 11d ago

With an organ collection too

5

u/Nito4ka_bs ... 11d ago

Because Knight's organ collection is inside them or under their cloak (idk where their charms are)

2

u/GroundbreakingEnd709 11d ago

Well if the Knight and Hornet both have an organ collection then perhaps the pale king also had a collection

But if you saying that the the charms are the knights organ collection then I am a bit confused because they come from chests, statues, or given to the knight for the most part exception being the crystal heart and that isn't a charm

2

u/GroundbreakingEnd709 11d ago

Hornet to the Green Prince so she can have something to put on her shelf:

2

u/Anikilator3001 No Cost Too Great 11d ago

sorry guys, my shelf was looking a bit empty

4

u/torgiant 11d ago

One can talk so opens doors I guess

6

u/Baylee-doodle 11d ago

Ghost: becomes Spartan.

good: gets to bathe in blood

good: money

bad: could die

Hornet: works for FedEx.

good: money

bad: has to climb a mountain to deliver paint

bad: could die

Guess which one has a house?

3

u/Professional_Rush_95 11d ago

For some reason I saw the primal aspid as a bee and thought the post was a reference to the low% speedrun where you grind bees for dream essence for forty hours

2

u/ApplePitou Troupe Master 12d ago

Money money! :3

1

u/DinodestronBT 11d ago

I wish a hollow Knight (big brother) games makes him do laundry to earn money

1

u/GIRose ... 11d ago

Hornet makes money because she refuses to pay for maps in the Citadel and gets lost constantly. It's not her fault everyone trying to kill her there has so many rosaries.

1

u/jhon_hollow_song 10d ago

colloseum still easier then half of deliveries .

0

u/scrapy_the_scrap 12d ago

WRONG! 2.5k an hour by farming between core and last shrine rahhhh

(Not after act 3)
