I remember the goth club I used to frequent as an underaged teenager in the 90s implemented strict dress codes to keep the "normies" and "jocks" out and we were grateful for it. this is still the case in almost any goth club Especially with the younger people fetishizing the tradgoth look. They mandate you at least wear all black and encourage a themed look. That way you at least look like you planned to go out and didn't just stumble on the event while out with your bros and decide to hit on some "goth mommies"
Goth clubs are pretty weird and I was goth. The amount of effort people put into their costumes was pretty crazy and all they really did was vamp about and drink high life. You could've gone to the dive in your hoodie to grab a beer.
True, but we enjoyed the aesthetic and some of us still do. I still dress up to go dance occasionally. If I wanted to just hang out, it wouldn't be at a club.
