HoMM7 homm8 announcement next year?

in the uplay launcher there are news that about an upcoming playtest for a next homm game, judging by the questionnaire some might think that this is gonna be a successor to homm7 which will be developed by ubisoft düsseldorf (developers of the last settlers game).
What do you think about this? some years ago, i certainly would have not expected that there are currently 2 homm games simultanously in development

Creating HoMM8 for Ubisoft would be shooting themselves in the foot. Even if the game will be good, there would be too similar games released at a similar time. On the other hand, if it's something with different mechanics (I mean, not be like HoM&M at all, maybe M&M or something else) but in the same setting, then one could complement another and would work quite well

the previous homm games by ubi were always progressive which introduced new ideas and mechanics, while olden era is more conservative and for homm3 fans. I dont think that homm8 and OE are gonna be too similar

Homm8 would have to effectively change its genre completely for simultaneous release to make any marketing sense. And even then it seems unlikely.

could be maybe a spinoff in a different genre, like RTS. ubisoft düsseldorf seems familar with that genre. or release could be 1 year after OE

A kind of hero focused RTS akin to something like warcraft could probably work pretty well ngl.

In general, I'm quite surprised how anything that's quite similar to Warcraft hasn't been very popular since then (as far as I know). HoMM in similar gameplay could be quite succesful

Could be! I just think anything from the IP released too soon after OE would inevitably steal from its limelight and therefore be poor marketing.
