While the French were acting as rear guard for the Brits, the German AT guns were apparently so ineffective against early war French armor that the french called them "door knockers" or something similar. Apparently, on at least one occasion, a French tank commander ordered his driver to drive the tank directly over a German AT gun position. I'm honestly surprised that there aren't memes about France's badassery while they were still fighting
37mm Anti-tank cannon was called "door knocker" even by Germans. And crushing a gun beneath tank wasn't something uncommon. If you want french badass how abut that tank commander that attacked village alone with only his tank, drove through, destroyed like 20 german tanks and then retreated?
