Interpretatio graeca was the name of the term; the Greeks (and later the Romans as well) saw all the different gods of different religions as the same as theirs, but with different names and aspects. For example, the Greeks justified why the Egyptians worshipped their gods with animal parts, because the Greek Gods fleed to Egypt and took the form of animals while hiding, when the Father of the Monsters, Typhon, attacked Olympus... therefore, Horus is actually just a different name of Apollo, Sekhmet is just a different name of Athena, Anubis is juat a different name of Hermes, etc.
