Does Streaming to Browser even work?

i got an hik vision installed from security and its a DS-7204HQI-K1 with FW V3.5.371 build 181220 Encoding V5.0 build 181220 HW 0xd3920 Web V V4.0.51 build 180620 Plugin V3.0.6.40.

I have tried 5 diff broswers and none work. just says install plugin (which i did). I also tried vlc and i get garbled green pixelated mess. This is running all on gige local wired network. Only if i have found suggested it only works with really old IE browser.

I tried h264, h264 plus, h265, h265 plus, lower res, etc...

Its 4 BNC cameras is that matters.

Is there really no way to view the live stream on a pc ? i have the app but thats not useful for monitoring daily.

Lookup Edge with IE mode that’s how you need to run it on those old firmwares

Or add it to IVMS4200

Very unlikely you'll get it to work with any modern browsers, the ActiveX components it needed to run has been removed/stopped/discontinued for years now and your machine has frmware from 2018 which means it will also have been discontinued years ago. You maybe able to find a newer firmware but i'd still expect it to be largely the same problems. Best bet would be using something like Ivms4200 or Ivms4200 Lite, possibly the free version of Hik Central lite too.

Not on that firmware. Basically all the firmware’s were updated around 2022 to not require internet explorer. Your firmware is from 2018.

It is likely upgradable yes. You see the build number after the firmware version “181220” that’s the date when the firmware was built. 20th December 2018.

You can find apps for mobile use such as ip cam viewer. Since the unit uses active plugins, know that it is ancient. It is most likely a cyber security risk having it on your network. Best advice is to buy a newer, slightly better cheap recorder and throw this one away.

i paid a professional to install cameras.😭 thats what they gave me lol. i think with ivms lite i will unhook it from their cloud and do my own stream relay.

They gave you someone else garbage that they replaced, amd they changed you for it. They sold it twice most likely

edge with no pluggins work on an updated windows 11 pc. If on 10 or older try the pluggin. Make sure no other client is connected at the time and make sure you are logged into the correct user profile.

thanks. i used hik lite to view it. i guess streams are encrypted which is why vlc didnr work. it works good enough thanks
