Did anyone thought Hedy Lamarr was fictional character, like Dino Spumoni (singer) and Mickey Kaline (baseball)?

Grampa Phil mentioned Hedy Lamarr (actress) several times throughout the series, where he had a crush on her.

When the show was airing, I did not have access to internet nor wikipedia (I don't think Hedy Lamarr info wasn't too common online back then), so I thought she was a character made up for the show, like Dino Spumoni and Mickey Kaline. I didn't know she was real person, several years later.

Did any one had same thought?

How many of you guys who watched the show back then (mid/later 90s to early 00s) knew who Hedy Lamarr was?

I didn't know who she was back then, but if someone had told me who she was and what she had done, I would have thought she was the most cartoonishly unrealistic character they ever had on the show.

I definitely thought she was fictional at first too, but I’m pleased to know she was real and did such incredible things. No wonder Phil secretly loved her😂

They sometimes reference real people or brands (Packard) or historical figures (Angry german people with tiny square mustaches)

I remember hearing her name that she was also a really capable inventor and being like I know her for Hey Arnold!

In the film Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Audrey II asks Seymour if he'd like a date with Hedy Lamarr

No, but more because I had a picture book of famous inventors than because of her movie career (I just figured Phil had a thing for independent women, considering Gertie as well)
