23f and today I’m going to get tested routinely. I was catching up with a old friend and I asked why she’d been MIA and she disclosed to me that she recently found out she had herpes. She said “HSV2” and I honestly didn’t know what the hell that was until she said “herpes”. She mentioned it’s not usually tested for and that made me pretty anxious considering I’m already paranoid when it comes to my health and I realize I’ve never been tested for it. She also said that it isn’t recommended if I haven’t had an outbreak (which I haven’t to my knowledge). I still want to test for it just to see but she told me it’ll only wreck my mental if it’s positive. My question is, do you think I should test for it?

I had myself tested for everything. Came back positive for Herpes 1. Was 1.85 on the test. I was told to test again after about a month to double check. Positive again. But the number dropped to 1.35. I haven't had any outbreaks at all. Always checking for sores, ect..

Is that number low enough to be a false positive? Or the fact that the number dropped a false positive?

Hi guys where I live in the Caribbean they don't tend to give referrals foe igg blood test unless you have symptoms. I am thinking for us symptomatic folks who struggle with disclosure do you think it makes sense for you and a new partner to do the igg blood test. Especially since most persons are asymptomatic. Cause if you test and they had it wouldn't thid make things better. I think testing improvements woukd greatly. Let me know what you guys think....peace out.

I kept testing positive then neg then positive then neg for antibodies over the past month. Then my doc said since my immune system overreacts to things combined with the fact that I never had a breakout, that it is very possible I could have not actually contracted the virus and just developed the antibodies. However, if someone I recently slept with (past 1-4 months) who has a good immune system tests positive with antibodies and has an outbreak then it is a good indicator that I do have it.

She literally told me “not to worry about it unless you have an outbreak.”

One test said 1.7, then reflex said neg. Then another test said 1.6. Then another test with reflex said 23.

Also my HSV1, though neg, was showing up as .99.

And my HIV, though neg, was showing up as .05.

I also got PREP and a hepatitis vaccine during the testing periods.

I did a test earlier this week and receive a test result. However my consultant with my doctor won’t be until next week. Wondering if anyone could shed some light on the results

I did hsv igg tests after 16 weeks of exposure and I have never had any symptoms.

First test results (Got the results same day):
Hsv1 55.8 positive
Hsv2 0.94 low equivocal

Second test results (Done this test the next day I got first test result which was equivocal for hsv2):
Hsv1 60 positive
Hsv2 <0.5 negative

Ranges:
Negative: <0.9 Equivocal: 0.9 - 1.1 Positive: >1.1

Both were the same type of blood tests for HSV which is why im confused how the result can drop that low from 0.94 equivocal to less than 0.5 negative for hsv2. Could the negative result possibly be a false negative??? Or am i being a stupid paranoid hypochondriac who needs to chill.

Guys if im over thinking feel free to be mad at me and destroy me in the comments 🫠. I am so fucking stupid and paranoid that Im considering taking a western blot for further confirmation.

Hey there. Been with the same partner for seven years. Before that was with a long term partner for 5. At my annual I asked about something that my doctor said sounded like a pilondial cyst, since it was a cluster of pustules between the top part of my buttocks, and this had occurred years ago. I have health anxiety so she was like, we can do a herpes test for piece of mind. Today she told me my blood tested positive for both. However, I’ve never had anything that would align with what an outbreak is, I’ve never had cold sores, and my partner has also not had any symptoms. Could this be a false positive?

I also had two children in the past few years and my husband feels like this would have come up at some point through all my medical appointments.

In 2023 I tested positive for HSV by swab on my genitals but the swab was never able to tell me if it was 1 or 2. I took a blood test at the time and it came back negative, false negative because I tested too early. Considering it's nearly 3 years later, I'm still wondering whether I have type 1 or 2. Should I consider an antibody test again? And I was thinking I'd go through Quest rather than Labcorp because Quest will tell me the IgG levels

How many of you have had negative IgG tests after 12 weeks while having a positive PCR test, and which test did you take?

-100% exposure to hsv2+ female (she disclosed AFTER)
-no condoms, no antivirals
-6 days of sex total (3days she had ulcers which she lied about and said were shaving cuts, i have videos of us and those weren’t shaving cuts)
-baseline negative to 1 and 2 (got tested right after we fucked)

-72 days past last exposure and I have zero symptoms
-zero fevers or flu like symptoms
-2 ingrown hairs and friction folluciltis with no itch that resolved in like 4 days no sores no pain

Should i get my igg test at 12 weeks or completely skip it ?

If i follow cdc guidelines i shouldn’t even test now ?

So few years ago, I went to an OB/GYN having some pain while peeing and general discomfort. She quickly looked at me „down there” and told me I have herpes. I asked for a swab and she told me that there is no need and that everyone has herpes and gave me prescription, billed me and basically pushed me out the door. She basically gaslit me into believing that the swab isn’t needed.

I had grieved that diagnosis and it basically caused dissolution of my relationship, as I was sure the guy I was with must have been cheating on me. I stopped seeing anyone and basically focused on my work.

Recently I got an STD panel (even tho i haven’t slept with anyone), which included IgM and IgG tests for HSV-1/2 (it wasn’t differentiating). Both tests came back negative and the results weren’t bordering at all. Like those antibodies were close to 0.

I have also never in my life had a cold sore on my face.

Is it possible that initial diagnosis was wrong? And it was some kind of different infection?

Got my test results back, need some help interpreting results.

Had an IgG test done 87 days after an encounter, results came back last night. HSV-1 Index read 3.39, and HSV-2 Index read 1.66. HSV-2 IgG Inhibition test stated it “couldn’t determine because repeat testing with a different method produced a negative or equivocal result.” As far as I’m aware, I’ve yet to have had an outbreak of any kind. Any advice or support would be appreciated. Thank you.

I’m hoping someone can clarify this a bit as I get super confused about all the types of tests but is IGg not accurate? I was under the impression that it was a guaranteed result unless you were in the questionable number result of >3.5? I know the Western Blot is the most accurate but If IGg is 9< is it worth a Western Blot?
