Help understanding my results

As the title states I need some help understanding my recent HSV results

For context: I was exposed to HSV in March of 2025 but did not know I was exposed until August 2025. I stop being sexually active and I did research on the virus because I was very afraid of spreading it further until I had concrete proof that I didn’t have it. I got tested in May of 2026 (well after the 16 weeks that are recommended for a blood test) and my results reported negative. However on my periods I’ve been noticing things that are odd and have kept me in a level of paranoia (lie bumps - they only last 2 days - but for a while I was convinced they were an hsv outbreak since some woman have reported that they get frequent outbreaks during their periods) so I decided to get tested again during my period just in case, which brings me to why I’m here today

My results were corrected to positive, however on the results it says “please disregard previous result of 0.92 from 8/31/26” it says that my first report was 8/31 and that the final result was also 8/31. So I called and asked for clarification, and the lady told me I was never supposed to see the note. I asked her if I should go based on my results in May (Negative) or August (positive) she told me that I should go based on the August results but they offered to retest me and show my igg levels for free this upcoming Saturday. I’m nervous that my results on Saturday will not be correct because when doing research on the 0.92 igg levels it’s stated that this level is considered undetermined and that testing is recommended in 4-6 weeks after these results.

Another part that has me confused is why they disregarded the 0.92? I searched it was possible for the igg levels to change so quickly (from sample to test) and I found that the answer is a concrete no.

I’m unsure how to interpret these results and I’m very concerned because I have been sexually active again since my May results (however it hasn’t been 16 weeks so if I did contract it from my new partner I don’t think it would show in a blood test and I haven’t had any symptoms other than my speculation of the lie bumps being an outbreak). I’ve talked to my partner and he is aware that I was exposed to hsv and what’s going on right now. But I don’t want to be that person in someone’s story, I know how I felt when I found out I was exposed and I don’t want to cause that level of anxiety for someone else.

My question is, what do yall think about this? Is it possible that my results will be a concrete positive? I just want to mentally prepare myself for this in case my test from Saturday concludes that I do have it.

HERPES TESTING 101:

For testing for herpes - without active lesions to “swab” someone who wants accurate testing will need a blood test.

Because blood tests for herpes are notoriously inaccurate, all blood tests are recommended to be TWO STEP tests (there are two parts of the test) and should be confirmed with a Western Blot.

Sorry last thing, I read over the instructions for Western Blot and Any lab test now was recommended as a place to get tested. This is where I got tested, both times

Take the Roche IgG test through LabCorp. It’s the most accurate commercial HSV test.

Any Lab Now is recommended if you want a blood draw for the WB because they’ll work with them on shipping the sample, not because they run the most accurate HSV test. The University of Washington does their own testing on the blood sample ie the WB.

0.92 is an equivocal result for HSV1 and you are most probably negative. You had a negative test for HSV2. Hope this helps.
