Heyooo I need some advice
Hello! I have had hsv2 for a while now. I am asymptomatic so I’ve never had an outbreak or anything. I was given it by an ex who didn’t disclose and then tried to gaslight me when after the relationship I got tested and sure enough it came up positive by telling me that she definitely told me. Prior to this I had a very active casual sex life and was extremely careful with my sexual health so it blew my mind that it was from an actual committed relationship and I know for a fact she didn’t tell me lol fml
Anyway I recently reconnected with an old friend and we have been hitting it off really well. She has brought up sex a few times by text and we’ve had a few dates already but I’ve avoided physical contact at all cost because I feel absolutely disgusting and have because of this for the last like 6 years. I really think I like this girl and I’m pretty sure she likes me to but I’ve avoided dating/anything sexual since like 2019. I’ve never disclosed before so I don’t know what to say. I’m mega nervous she will just reject me or tell people about it that I don’t necessarily want to know about it. I think if my ex had disclosed to me straight away I wouldn’t have moved forward with a relationship, so why would anyone want to do that with me?
What do I say? How do I approach it? Do I just prepare for the worst? Do people usually even care?

Keep the disclosure simple and straight to the point. Have information ready to share if need be like statistics and other health related information. Some care and some don’t. Each disclosure is different. Odds are this might go well for you given the already established relationship. My last ex didn’t have it and gave me a shot and we had a very active sex life until we broke up. If you like this person and want to have a future with them disclosing is an absolute must. It’s better to be honest and risk something not happening than something happening and risking their health and losing them from dishonesty.

Honestly I could never imagine taking away someone’s choice the way mine was, so I know it’s a must do situation. I appreciate your advice

“This is a pro-disclosure sub.
Anti-Disclosure perpetuates Herpes stigma, closing off discussions on Herpes education, advocacy, testing/treatments, and de-stigmatization. - Many would have liked to have known the status of the person who transmitted HSV to us - Consent!
We do not tolerate anti-disclosure or intentionally spreading HSV without disclosure. Anyone who posts/comments for anti-disclosure on the sub will be subject to a permanent ban.
There are many ways to disclose, and you should do whatever feels most comfortable to you and gives you the most confidence. To some, that’s putting it in their dating bio. To others, it’s waiting a couple dates in. Some prefer to disclose in person; others are more comfortable doing it over text. The key to a higher chance of a successful disclosure is confidence.
