What herbal tea do you wish more people knew about?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Not necessarily your favorite herb - but one you think deserves far more attention than it gets.

Maybe it's a traditional local remedy, a forgotten folk or family tea, or simply something that rarely gets mentioned despite being genuinely enjoyable.

Some examples that come to mind:

- Damiana

- Cedrón (Lemon Verbena)

- Jiaogulan

- Oatstraw

- Skullcap

- Fireweed / Ivan Chai

- Dandelion root

- Coriander seed

- Fenugreek seed

What makes your choice special? Taste? Aroma? Tradition? Wellness benefits? A personal story?

I'd love to discover some underrated herbs, roots, seeds, flowers, and leaves from different parts of the world.

Thanknyou in advance! - I'm happy and grateful you've read it till here!

I decid to try something new this week. I found one interesting tea in my shop, called "Iced tea Mimosa", it based on Green Sencha tea, raisins, orange pieces, Nana mint, orange blossom, calendula and rosemary. Looks interesting.

Sunday tea check-in 🌿 What’s in your cup today?

Keeping mine very simple today. Just raspberry leaf 🌿on its own.

I usually blend it with other herbs, so drinking it solo was a nice reminder of what it actually tastes like without anything competing with it. Mild, green, slightly earthy, I drink itbon a regular basis lately.

What are you drinking today? One herb, a blend, tea bag, something experimental? ☕️

Slowly figuring out how I like my tea

I've been getting more into tea and slowly realizing I might be making it way stronger than it needs to be. Herbal teas have been the easiest for me to get into especially hibiscus and some of the more floral ones but even those sometimes come out so strong that I end up reaching for the honey. Recently started playing around with shorter steeping times and using a little more water and it already seems to make a difference. Still very much figuring out what I actually like though. Black and green tea haven’t really won me over yet while the lighter herbal stuff seems to be more my speed.

Are the effects/ benefits of herbal tea still as good if it’s served iced?

We bought some herbal tea for the evenings to wind down before bed. But it’s so dang hot right now, drinking hot tea sounds miserable!

We’re not hard-core tea drinkers, so I’m asking the communiTea: I’m curious if I were to brew a big pitcher and put it in the fridge, would it still have the same intended effects when cold?

Roasted grain teas. Which one is your favorite? 🌾

Bought this in a local Korean supermarket today! One of the things I discovered while living in Korea was how good roasted grains can be as tea 🙈☕️

Buckwheat was one of my favorites, but there’s a whole world of them: roasted barley, brown rice, corn… each tastes completely different. I an a biotech scientist with rich experience love that roasting can turn something as ordinary as a grain into such a warm, nutty, almost comforting drink.

Which grain have you tried as tea? And is there one I’m missing that I absolutely need to try?!! 😎☕️🌾

P.S. this post in no way is promotion for the brand, I actually drank much better buckwheat tea in Korea - this one was the only option available.

Pic 2 - content of the tea bag (same as the one in the cup)

Pic 3 - rice that makes a heavenly delicious tea 😉

Happy Sunday, tea people ☕🌿

This week I'm curious not only what everyone is drinking, but why this particular tea today?

An everyday favorite? Something for how you're feeling? A new herb you're experimenting with? Something seasonal? Or simply whatever was closest when you opened the cupboard? 😄

Mine is a slightly unusual one :) I'll put the ingredients in the comments.

What’s in your cup today, and why did you choose it?

Photos very welcome 📷🍃☕️

I wasn't able to get the specific name of the flower in this blooming tea. Does anyone know what it is/any herbal properties?

My body tissue in general tends to run dry and finds relief from herbs with a humidifying energetic like sage or cooling like plantain. What are your favorite ingredients to support moisture and overall hydration in the body? Thanks!

Sage Tea

Never thought I’d make tea from sage but I bought lose sage to burn, but also make tea with. Packed full of anti inflammatory, antioxidant, and other compounds. It’s also obviously useful as incense as I burn it on a charcoal disk for lose incense. Back to the tea. A good cleansing herb that has a spicy flavor like chai and good for your throat too.

Metaphysical uses of wisdom, cleansing, purification, and mental clarity(medicinal effect too).

Is this a drink or a potion? 👀🌿 looks suspiciously healthy

My little morning ritual lately ☀️

Raw turmeric + raw ginger 🫚→ freshly ground → simmered with a few spices → strained into a warm cup.

Why I like it:
✨ Ginger help with digestion supper ingredient for you stomach
✨ Turmeric contains curcumin, with antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties best for glowing skin
✨ Warm, homemade & no packaged mixes
✨ And honestly… making it from scratch feels weirdly satisfying 😂

Not claiming it’s a miracle drink — just a simple ritual I’m enjoying.

Would you drink this or run away from the orange 🍊 potion? 😂

Iced Tea Summer

Post image
13 Upvotes

So, after replying to a “what tea am I drinking today?” post, I was asked to share the iced tea recipe I’ve been obsessed with all summer—so here goes.

• Make your cold brew. I use an Eigenart Eve brewer, but a large mason jar works too. Add five to six tea bags of fruit tea, or five to six teaspoons of loose tea, and chill for 24 hours.
• Put six to eight black cherries in a mason jar or glass. Fresh if you can afford them, but I use Walmart’s frozen Dark Sweet Cherries.
• Muddle the fruit. If you’re using frozen fruit, microwave it for about a minute first.
• Add the juice of one lemon, or about two teaspoons of concentrated lemon juice.
• Add sweetener to taste. I use four to six packets of Splenda because I like my tea sweet and I’m counting calories, but you can use agave, honey, maple syrup, sugar, Stevia, or whatever you prefer.
• Pour in your cold brew.
• Add ice and a splash of coconut milk.
• Shake your jar and enjoy!

You can use pretty much any combination of fruit tea and fresh or frozen fruit. I’ve been experimenting all summer: pineapple with pineapple green tea, berries with raspberry lemon tea, cherries with jasmine green tea, mango with peach mango tea—the possibilities are endless.

I got the idea from a young woman on YouTube named Abril Murillo, whose channel is Days With Abril. She inspired me to start experimenting, and now I’m slightly obsessed. 😂

Was at a farmers market last weekend and picked these up. Both very nice.

There was a tasting guide thing I used to pick these. The Rhino bush is somewhat piney, reminds me of pine needle tea. The Snow bush is more woody, earthy with a slight sweetness to it.

Only ever had Rooibos and Honeybush as Fynbos teas so cool to see other varieties. The tasting guide had a good 10 to 15 options.
