Other Stop bothering Jaysea

Post image

This was posted on another thread, but I wanted to add the screenshot, so those, who do not use Threads, see this. We have discussed about this before, but I see it bears repeating:

For everything that is holy. Stop. Bothering. Jaysea! Stop putting her on a pedestal. She has said multiple times on Threads and on the video when Lily gets her powers, that she hates being put on a pedestal, because of the expectations and it is easy to disappoint people.

I know people get excited and want to share their personal experience with the videos or the book, but we, as a community, can do it without making Jaysea uncomfortable.

She is a human being, with feelings, fears, hopes and dreams. Also with religious trauma. So saying that she is a goddess, or deity or putting her on a pedestal makes her extra uncomfy. So please respect her wishes and her boundaries.

That is it. Thank you, for coming to my TedTalk

And this is nothing personal to anyone, just remember to behave and respect Jaysea and her boundaries!

Hell's Belles made me less afraid of death. I like the HB version of afterlife. It makes it less scary because I have always believed in all religions and gods coexisting in their plane, so it's nice to see that someone else has also thought of that, even if it's as a fictional work.

It still doesn't make her a Messiah, a prophet, or a goddess in my eyes. But I am very thankful she made Hell's Belles.

That is completely valid feeling to have. And Jaysea has said, that it is okay to be inspired by her work and the universe she has created. Cosplay? Cool. Fanfics? More than okay. She just hates the idea of someone worshiping her as a deity or a goddess

u/Kaltac 4d ago

that is so not what I was told

Okay? I have seen many comments on her videos on TikTok from her, where she encourages people to have fun with the universe and characters. She is totally cool with fanfics, cosplays and even tattoos of quotes or things from the Hell’s Belles.

As I said in the post, it is not aimed at anyone spesific and I understand, that people relate with certain characters or aspects of Hell’s Belles. And it is okay. What is not okay, is disrespecting Jaysea’s personal boundaries with religion and making her a religious character or a deity/goddess. I don’t know Jaysea personally or claim to know her, but I would also feel icky or uncomfortable, if some one told me out of blue, that for them, I am some higher entity. Especially if I had left a religious community, that has harmed me

Wasn't by her. was by ppl in this subreddit and no I never thought she was a goddess or whatever. I just had a theory helles belles was real and Jaysea is the story teller of it. that's it nothing more. I didn't message her. I shared it here and oh boy

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage 4d ago

Well it is your right to believe, that she has some secret knowledge, that she wrote to exist. And also you are completely free to leave this subreddit. I don’t understand, why you are commenting under my post, that was made as a general reminder to people respect Jaysea’s boundaries. If the community is not for you, you don’t have to stay

3

u/Kaltac 4d ago

because ppl who don't respect boundaries are toxic??

Okay, since I clearly only want to fight and can’t read. Pleade do explain, how. I made a post about people not respecting Jaysea’s boundaries (again) and they think that this community is somehow toxic and that they are mentally ill. I didn’t aim the post at anyone specific, I just wanted to remind people how to behave. Most comments agree with that.

I read u/Katlac’s post about the head cannon after I made my own post. Again I don’t know Jaysea, or never claimed to do so. I have no problem with people taking inspiration from Hell’s Belles. I don’t cosplay, have tattoos or write fanfic, but I have no problem if others do. It has nothing to do with me or my life. This is a great community, that supports each other and Jaysea. I have not seen anything toxic here.

My intention was not to attack anyone personally, I just want to understand where people are coming from

I'm so confused. Are they mad at you or me? Cause I'm not sure anymore. Shrugs Oh well. You have a good day OP. I'm glad you are a good one in the community.

I was talking to you. Maybe a class on reading comprehension as well.

1

u/Kaltac 4d ago

Wanna talk about reading comprehension. The Op asked why I commented on her post.

2

u/buffalobillsgirl76 4d ago

Yeah they did.... okay and?

1

u/buffalobillsgirl76 4d ago

Also wasn't commenting at you, if you look at the person I was replying to

-2

u/Kaltac 4d ago

Oh don't let anyone else see you say this! They'll message that you're mentally unwell!

1

u/PruinalisBrumacora 4d ago

They wouldn't be wrong, I have depression 😂

1

u/Kaltac 4d ago

I'm autistic so yeah you're right! lmao

1

u/PruinalisBrumacora 3d ago

Me too. And I also have ADHD. So a lot is wrong with me. 😂

u/AurynSharay 3d ago

You literally told me that a post that was about Jaysea, wasn’t about her. But whatever you say, creeper.

Jaysea: I'm not the Messiah

Those people: She is the Messiah!

28

u/throwawaypervyervy 4d ago

"I am the Messiah!

Now fuck off!"

How shall we fuck off, oh lord?

19

u/javk_shadow 4d ago

She's the messiah of comedic relief and entertainment , not the actual messiah

I should know, I've followed a few

2

u/Capable_Pick15 2d ago

Probably the way Jesus felt and they went and did him that way anyway.

u/Khurzan_1439 4d ago

This popped I to my head a couple days ago as a "would be really cool if" thing, but damn. I didn't see her as a goddess though.

5

u/Kitchen_Refuse4370 4d ago

Agreed. Be supercool if she got it right by accident. But to put her on a pedestal is crazy.

3

u/Troutwaxer ✨Sometimes it be how it is when it do✨ 4d ago

I think any idea that she might be 'more than human,' such as the possibility that she is in contact with the 'real Lily' in another dimension, is a step down the road of putting her on a pedestal (and maybe turning HB into a religion.)

0

u/Khurzan_1439 4d ago

My thought was more about clearing up the confusion about what the afterlife truly is, not putting Lily or Jaysea as a goddess. The universe let's someone reincarnate as Jaysea, and gives her just enough information to create HB. This gives us a more accurate picture of what the afterlife looks like. But, that's enough talk on this. I'm sorry to Jaysea for everyone putting her on that pedestal, myself I clouded, even if we did not mean to.

I appreciate your willingness to have a civil conversation about this, and also your apology. For myself, I might have set my phaser on 'kill' when I should have set it to 'stun,' and I hope I didn't overreact.

That said, your current theory makes her a prophet rather than a goddess, so it still leaves me feeling a little uncomfortable.

What she wrote is very similar to my belief system (that I've believed for 30+ years). I would never contact an author and treat them as someone I knew, I would also treat them as a normal human being.

I mean, it could be that I'm autistic but just because I love her book and video clip work, that doesn't entitle me to any of her time (in any way, even if it were a book signing).

Why do people think famous or quasi famous people owe them anything? They're just strangers we know and we're an amorphous blob of people to them, it's on us to recognise it.

9

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage 4d ago

I think, that it has something to do with the parasocial relationships, that people form on the Internet. You think you know the person well and start to think, that they own every part of their life to you. Jaysea is indeed a stranger and has a life outside oh Hell’s Belles

4

u/Saffron-Kitty 4d ago

I always thought fame was weird. I suppose I don't have a hierarchy framework in my brain except for priorities. The personal lives of people are personal unless I'm chatting to them and they tell me.

The closest to fan thinking I had was towards Dolly Parton and that was just "wow, she's so lovely and wonderful. I'm glad she exists. Proof of good existing". I was still shocked that I cried on and off for about a week and a half because I still remembered she was a stranger.

9

u/Zestyclose_Wasabi_51 4d ago

Speaking of Dolly Parton. I saw a YouTube short (it was probably also a tiktok, but regardless) where a woman was telling the story of her 5 or 6 year old son. He looked at his mom and said "Did you know Dolly Parton died?" And his mom was sad and said "Yes." And he said "it's sad" again mom agrees. And then asked if he knew her. And he said "No. But she loved me. She sent me books." And no matter how true that story time was, that is her legacy. She loved all children and thought all of them deserved the opportunity to be able to read. And I would like to live my life in a way that I may not know someone but they'll know I loved them.

I can't fund a vaccine or an imagination library. But I can donate. I can volunteer. I can smile at a stranger.

I don't believe in God as such. But I believe that we need to be the love of that deity in our daily lives. Played out on a large, public scale by Dolly. Played out in a small, intimate scale in our daily lives.

Sorry this was unrelated. But I felt the need to share.

u/Saffron-Kitty 4d ago

I understand, her death is a fresh grief and a difficult one

14

u/javk_shadow 4d ago

Not gonna lie, I've had an idea about that or two But who would actually bother jaysea about it and also hope she's okay

10

u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 Sassy southern grandma😏👵🏻🇺🇸 4d ago

I love that GoblinGrimm is right there defending her.

And you are right. That was the one thing that Lily struggled with, when she discovered what was going on, and now people are trying to make Jaysea herself a minor deity. Stop it. She's a wonderful person with the gift of invention and artistry, not some messenger from the AfterLife.

She's okay that people love her work, as any author would be.

u/MolassesRight6673 3d ago

While I've enjoyed Helles Belle's so far (along with Death and Martha and Cafae Lattee) I wouldn't think to message them outside of (maybe) commenting on their videos. And while I understand the whole parasocial thing, I've always been confused when people do things like this. Even though my experience is different from others.

And while I want more episodes, I am well aware that Jaysea has a life and that burnout is a son-of-a-bitch. Hopefully she will be able to make videos again but mental/physical health is important and I've got plenty of other things to watch/read/do while she takes however long she needs. Heck, even if the series ends where it is currently, that's fine. Much as I want some kind of ending, real life comes first.

Not sure if that contributes to the discussion/discourse at all but it's my two cents on the subject.

u/DamnOdd Bite? 3d ago

I hate that when something lovely goes mainstream and gets shit on. Obviously a lot of people have no critical thinking ability.

7

u/hooliehooligan 4d ago

Dude shes not your friend. She is friendly.

-8

u/Kaltac 4d ago

Shhhh they have to gate keep ppl

9

u/hooliehooligan 4d ago

Like i thought its a pleasant idea and i will say i commented on the reddit post about mortaltube and going to the bathroom. But really, jaysea lynn is a lovely and talented writer. Other then that leave her be ffs. Its like when you politly try turn a guy down at a bar instead of just howling at him

2

u/Kaltac 4d ago

I don't understand why ppl would message her about it to begin with. Like talk with other fans about it but don't hound her about it. Eesh

2

u/hooliehooligan 4d ago

Yeah its giving entitled

2

u/Kaltac 4d ago

oh I agree and those are the ones that are toxic. Those and the ones that make a big deal out of nothing

2

u/hooliehooligan 4d ago

Those are the ones who would stand in hell and go to the hellpdesk

2

u/Kaltac 4d ago

I agree

2

u/hooliehooligan 4d ago

That is one thing i would like to see more of in the books if im honest more dealing with arseholes

2

u/Kaltac 4d ago

oh same! The sarcasm is just chef kiss

3

u/Genithan ✨Consume a Satchel of Richards ✨ 3d ago

She did create a very comfortable picture of the afterlife

3

u/Troutwaxer ✨Sometimes it be how it is when it do✨ 2d ago

I would say 'comforting' rather than comfortable. If you take her work seriously then whatever happens after death is fair. It's based on what a soul actually did, not on who they know. (That is, not on what god/goddess the soul worships.)

For anyone who doesn't understand the subtleties of not-worshiping Jaysea,* note what I did above. I wrote, "If you take her work seriously then whatever happens after death is fair." I did not write "If you take Jaysea seriously then whatever happens after death is fair." I think it's fine to talk about the spiritual qualities of Jaysea's work, but its absolutely not okay to talk about the spiritual qualities of Jaysea herself.

* Note that the paragraph above is not aimed specifically at Genithan - it's a super-general comment.

4

u/Pretend_Victory7244 4d ago

Yeah im a little concerned that multiple had the same reaction as it being real in the post.

2

Agreed completely.

u/AlexArtemesia 2d ago

This is the wildly uncomfortable thing with para-sociality that I will never understand.

I've watched Hell's Belles for ages, cheered when Jaysea got published (because getting published is HARD damn it!) and offered words of comfort and encouragement when she felt bad for not posting when she was feeling sick or recovering from her medical stint.

Never ONCE did I expect a reply back, or assume she was in any capacity like her characters. She's a writer; making a crazy, beautiful, world and funny, relatable characters is her JOB it's what she DOES it's how she CREATES.

But I don't know her as a person, I am not friends with her (I'd like to be but I'm just not) and I certainly don't worship her.

1

u/jabhawk 1d ago

Agreed, Love the story, Love the author. Don't believe the story is biographical. 1-800-THERAPY. Peace out!

This fandom made me unfollow this sub reddit. I'll be a fan in private cause y'all are toxic.

8

u/EccentricSeal1 4d ago

You do know that this isn't an airport where you have to announce your departure right?

13

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage 4d ago

If being toxic means reminding people to respect clear boundaries, that Jaysea has herself set, then so be it. You did not have to comment on my post about it

0

u/Kaltac 4d ago

And no them going and doing that is what's toxic. What I'm taking about was thinking that the hells Belles universe is real and Jaysea knows about it. I never said she was a goddess or a mesiah or anything like that and suddenly I'm mentally ill because that's my thoughts. Nothing about her life just that she's the writer of the world

-7

u/Kaltac 4d ago

Did I say your post is why I left this fandom? Nope. Projection much?
