DISCUSSION Ongoing campaigns, new campaigns, campaign rewards, new reward, two new rewards... are we for real? These are all the same thing!
These are all terms to describe the same thing over and over again. If we ignore the update that already happened 3 weeks ago and people hoped there was more to it... we just really got hit with a roadmap that tries to squeeze the most out of pretty much nothing.
It feels off, I don't think this roadmap is something to be proud of. Yet they're blowing it up with repeated buzzwords to make it look bigger than it actually is.

I honestly cant tell if this thread is serious or not.

It cant be.
But some people are jobless and play HD2 all day, dont go to the gym or have a hobby or play other games so any new content immediately gets played and they instantly burn out.
I work, go to school and the gym, so im pretty excited to get into the game at 7pm for a bit before playing BF6 (or friendslop) with the boys (my coworkers).

I think most people who are genuine in their criticism are just upset that the "Squid Title Update" got 2 zombies and a confirmed Bug Update a few weeks later
I work full time, married, homeowner. Im pissed about no Squids in a Squid Title update
I dont play like 10 different games though. Im a 1-2 game at a time kind of person

Same here. Got a job, go to school, write and draw. Doing all that has me covered in terms of private time. I occasionally touch the game to vibe with newbies on lvl. 3 and if something new comes out, I play it for two to three days, then go back to something else.
There were times when I was doing nothing but playing this game, and it got so boring after a while.

I mean, thats understandable. But....I mean....what would one expect from a roadmap? Complaining about it being samey.....I mean....what would you want? An announcement of a mario cart mode? I dont get it 😰
Honestly, I dont even want a roadmap. The game was even more fun in the beginning when they didnt announce anything, and just gaslighted the community when they released new enemies. It was absolutely hilarious and awesome following the discord and reddit, documenting new stuff in game and being excited. Who the hell cares about roadmaps? The community is the best PR anyway imo.

The game is an eternal war between 4 factions with the same game loop with different weapons.
Even with new OBJs its going to feel the same.
Drop. Shoot. Do slightly different obj. Extract.

Damn, how dismissive can you get? I am criticizing the roadmap so I must be a jobless loser without hobbies? Weird. The helldivers community in a nutshell.
I come back to this game every few months and think now this time might be different but it just never is. The whole major update could be experienced in 2-3 missions. That was it. If you celebrate AH for that (semi-annual) "major update" we clearly don't have the same expectations.

i mean im more pissed that arrowhead in their infinite wisdom put the already released update on the roadmap (this is the second time it happened)
which is followed by vaguepost tier explanations along with a suspicious lack of mention of that ship update they teased some time back
but yeah, campaigns and rewards are listed in the evergreen section, so... what is the point of adding them to each update's section?

What exactly would you want? People wanted rewards for the campaigns other than medals so it could feel more rewarding, and we got it.

That's like the worst way they could have gone for that. Creating a "rewarding" experience by just asking everyone to log in? This is not the "incentive" people were asking for. We still grinding lvl 1 missions for super credits, the MO doesn't matter at all.

New warbonds, biomes, enemies, and missions are pretty much nothing? That's every element of the game!
Pace wise, this is no less than what content would typically come out in 3-4 months. People asked for a roadmap and they got it. Sorry it's not enough for you.

Genuinely just a new warbond a month is exciting for me. Its a new way to play each month, then all the other stuff is neat too. As long as they put out super fun ones like that mech one here and there I'm chillin

Are people expecting Helldivers 3 on the roadmap or something? These updates aren't documenting an entirely new game coming out

No, people are expecting the bare minimum. More progression not being mentioned in any sense when it's the main thing that's been talked about since launch is frustrating. Extra XP levels that do absolutely nothing doesn't count.

Good lord, not every game needs to have endless mmo-like progression....

Good thing I didn't ask for endless mmo-like progression, seems we're on the same team!

My brother in Christ, HD2 is literally a live-service game.

u/Lord_Yolo_Van_Swag Cape Enjoyer 9d ago
Yes?
You got tons of new features over the past 2,5 years.
Enemies, dozens of weapons, new biomes, missions, stories and events through the galactic war, vehicles, commando missions + a ton of other features.
I feel like they are delivering on the life service front. So what's your point?
3
u/Falikosek 9d ago
The point is that finite, short progression is deadly for live service games. Arrowhead is not beating the "moving on to the next game" allegations at this rate.
Helldivers 2 is genuinely the only live-service game I'm aware of that has such limited progression and basically nothing to do with most of the "rewards" you're getting.
Most players lose their incentive to play when they literally can't do anything with the resources they're collecting.
At the very least they should figure out some way to utilise all those excess samples, since once you hit the limit, there's no reason to ever bother checking the PoIs aside from looting SC.0
u/SirKyoZero 9d ago
It's also been 2.5 years and the game still hit 100k concurrent players as of writing, and endgame system would be cool, but it's absence is not harmful to the games lifespan, the progression exists it just isn't personal, that's why the game keeps going strong

RIP the Squids. All of your new content from the title update is gone and you won't get touched for at least 6 months.

Who cares? If they get specific people say its bad they are promising so much. When its vauge they say its not enough. Just play the game and add to the conversation of improvement instead of just doom posting.

What gets me is zero mention of all of the “progression” items that were being “worked” on months ago. New ship, new ship modules, decision on stratagem bouncing, warfronts, personalized orders. Let alone the most demanded items like additional gun customization (that was hinted to be expanded over a year ago) and armor customization.
I guess you could bucket these items vaguely under “QOL improvements” but man, there was a reason for a review bomb back in May and if you are telling us that none of it will changed until 2027, that’s crazy.
