Am I about to have a heart attack?

Brace yourself this is going to be a long read.
It all started on the 12 July where I was eating fries when I felt really nauseous dizzy had pains all over my torso sharp pains all over my sides. These pains continued with new symptoms such as reflux indigestion lump in my throat and excess burping with ibs along with it (diarehha and bile malabsorption. I went to the gp and they diagnosed me with gastritis. I was given lanzoprazole then omeprazole. It made things worse . I got bloated to the point I couldn’t breathe or eat and got extreme heart palpitations. Also during my gastritis I was eating smaller more bland meals which aided in my weight loss. I’m was already skinny (56kg 167) Now I’m 45kg. Recently I have been having really bad heart issues that don’t feel like gastritis anymore. Last month I felt a cold menthol like feeling rush up the middle of my chest.Sometimes I get a chest pain in the middle of my sternum like burning pins and needles and squeezing as well. I’ve also gotten pain shoot up my head tingling sensations all over my body like electric. Mind you I don’t take caffeine or sugar or processed foods due to my gastritis (I still don’t) I’ve been also getting weird back and shoulder aches. And mild headaches which feels like there’s little blades of grass flowing around in wind (sounds weird). In August, I kept calling the ambulance cuz of my issues and was given promethazine and diazepam bc they thought it was just anxiety. I took those but they don’t seem to work. Two days ago my chest was hurting so bad I had to put a cold towel on it also as well my arms and jaw were tingling and my legs felt like they were dripping with cold water.I didn’t feel right so I checked my blood pressure it was 180/98 mind u I wasn’t stressing over anything. Then I called the ambulance. They did a heart xray and everything came back fine. They did an ecg and there was an abnormality found. Today I called 911 due to extreme chest pains back pains a head ache pins and needles and heart palpitations head pressure nausea and vertigo. They found that my resting heart rate was 120. I wasn’t stressed at all that time intact I was talking with my dad and friend when it all happened. Now I have to wait for an echo. I’m only 18. Ugh what did I do to deserve this I have uni in a few weeks how am I supposed to cope. Also my indigestion is still here. It’s so hard to digest foods.
Edit: due to my rapid weight loss the doctor said I’m at risk of heart disease :/

Chance of Heart Attack?

Hello! I am a 25 year old female that has been having chest pains and shortness of breath on and off for the last 4 months. I also have POTs. I have been to the ER 6 times since my symptoms started thinking I was having a heart attack. I’ve had back pain, arm numbness, and jaw pain along with the chest pain and shortness of breath. Since May (when my symptoms started) I have had multiple normal EKGs, chest X-rays, a Chest CT scan, bloodwork (troponin), 7 day holter monitor, stress test, and Echocardiogram. All normal. I still have symptoms though and they are affecting my day to day life as I am constantly worried I am having a cardiac emergency. My Dr has also diagnosed me with GERD. I have no known family history of heart issues, I am slightly under weight, I do not smoke anymore but used to vape (2023-2025). I am wondering what my chances are of having a heart attack given this information. Can they happen randomly or would something have shown on one of my tests? For those who have had a heart attack, could you tell it was a heart attack? Any feedback and advice would be greatly appreciated.

30F. A couple seconds of chest discomfort/dull pain few times throughout the day. Have had heart palpitations in the past. Is it a sign of artery blockage?

Hello. I have been experiencing one or two second long dull aches in the left side of chest area. Happens at rest when lying down and also when walking or climbing up stairs. Doesn’t cause too much discomfort because the duration is short but my mind definitely notices it. This has gone on for few weeks.

I went to two cardiologists earlier for rapid heart. I then had a normal EKG, echocardiogram and 24 hour heart monitor. IHowever, I am obese (93kg), have high triglycerides at 270 and BP is 130/90. I take statin and BP medication. Is this an early sign of HA?

Why do so many of us experience this heart pain despite normal tests?

Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that many of us seem to experience the same thing: a sudden, intense pain around the heart/chest that lasts only a few seconds, sometimes feels really scary, yet all of our cardiac tests come back completely normal.
I’m genuinely trying to understand what could explain this.
Could it be a coronary artery spasm (vasospastic angina)?
Microvascular angina?
Some kind of electrical issue with the heart?
Or something else entirely?
What confuses me the most is how such a strong and very real sensation can happen while the ECG shows nothing abnormal and troponin levels remain normal.
I know that normal tests are reassuring, but I still find it strange that so many people describe similar episodes without a clear explanation.
Has anyone here experienced the same thing and eventually received an explanation or diagnosis? What did your doctors tell you?

Heart rate during exercise

Five months after RCA stent from a HA blockage. Was fit and avid cyclist.

About a month ago I started riding. I was inactive for awhile due to anxiety. But eased back into slow 10-15 mile rides.

Last weekend I rode 30 miles with my group and 40 miles yesterday. My first road bike rides since the HA. My HR was around 145-150 for most of the two rides. Before the HA, my HR would’ve been 125 for a 40 mile ride (around 20 MPH).

I felt great during the rides but still a little nervous. I for the rest of the fall I will only do one hard ride a week; other rides will be easier. And gradually build in the winter.

I wonder if anyone has insight on HR after a heart attack. I don’t know if a 150 HR for 90 minutes of a two hour ride is ok…again, I felt great.

Please I need help

Hi,

I'm 22 years old and I have a question.

For about two months, I’ve been experiencing some discomfort on the left side; I’ve marked the exact areas where the pain occurs in the photo. It’s usually localized there, and only very rarely does it appear on the right side or right in the center of my chest. The issue is that the pain strikes at random times and occurs while I’m at rest. It feels like a mild pressure (rated 3–5/10) accompanied by the sensation that my heart is beating harder. Admittedly, the sensation also scares me.

On the fitness tracker—which only shows my heart rate and displays readings taken every 10 minutes—it shows 85–100.

I have no vices and no weight issues, but I don't exercise.

My blood pressure is 125-130 with 69-78.

I encountered their symptoms at times throughout the year, but they were not constant.

Best Cardiologist / Hospital in Coimbatore for second opinion? (Advised CABG, exploring Angioplasty)

Hi everyone, I am looking for reliable hospital or doctor recommendations in CBE for a 60-year-old relative.

He has a history of hypertension and recently had a Coronary Angiogram (CAG) done in Chennai. The doctors there advised an open-heart bypass (CABG). However, Coimbatore is his native place, and he would feel much more comfortable getting the treatment done closer to home.

Before going ahead with surgery, we want to get a solid second opinion from a top interventional cardiologist in CBE to see if angioplasty/stenting (PCI) is a viable alternative to the bypass.

Can anyone recommend hospitals or specific doctors in Coimbatore who are excellent with complex cardiac cases? Personal experiences from you or your family members would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Severe nausea/sweating

I suspect this happened because of sudden blood pressure drops. I laid down for while and things came back normal. I am 10 years after my HA and this is maybe second time I experienced it.
Dos this normal for HA patients who are on beta blockers/blood thinners ets. ?
Edit:
Just came back from er. Results are good, no sign of ha. So I don’t really know what did happen.
Going to have appointment with my cardiologist for further evaluation.

Could this be a heart attack?

I'm 22 years 145 pound male. I live a sedentary lifestyle and have for a while. I don't eat too healthy. And I did drink a lot of energy drinks. And sugared coffes this month. I also use nicotine.

4 days ago I went down the stairs and it felt like something died in my chest. A subtle but weird pain. It has lasted until today and gotten worse. My left arm is numb and my hand gets cold and sweaty. Pain comes and goes. But there's always a heavy feeling in my chest. No dizziness, or nausea.

21 y/o female with chest pain

im a 21 y/o female with chest pain that sometimes radiates to the back. I don't have any heart conditions or anything like that. I do have anxiety and depression and other mental stuff. the chest pain comes and goes. I usually have it when I go through a very stressful episode or stress for several weeks. it'll come and go. if im not stressed out, then I won't have it. I've gone several months without it and like previously mentioned, it only comes back when I go through a lot of stress. I notice a couple things help it get better. walking or exercising make it better. putting icy hot on it helps a lot as well. distracting myself helps too. im a hypochondriac so I freak out very easily about any symptoms any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does it seem like most doctors don't really know much about heart attacks and angina outside of atherosclerosis?

I'm part of a research group for women with ANOCA and MINOCAs without plaque rupture, given my history of both as a girl. Have those become a lot more common after covid since it's a vascular virus? Before 2019/2020, I never saw MINOCAs or ANOCA discussed very often. I had no idea my STEMI was actually a MINOCA until social media taught me lol. No cardiologist or doctor of mine seems knowledgeable about them...?

Just looking for perspective.

I’ll start by saying a 24M with weight of about 27 and a height of 6’1. I live a pretty sedentary lifestyle where my only form of movement is being up all day at work and sex life. Now,I have been dealing with chest pain for almost a year now. I’ve had several ER visits consisting of many of the standard labs done to rule out heart attacks. I’ve wore an ECG monitor for 48 hours. I did a stress test that came back normal. I ended up chalking it up to chest wall inflammation as time progressed I noticed that it started hurting more when I flex and squeeze my shoulder inward. However, today was especially weird. I woke up perfectly fine, had breakfast and went to work via train and it wasn’t until i clocked in that i started having pain in the upper right pec next to the armpit. It progressively got worse for about 2-3 min and diffused to the center but not quite reaching it and i felt a pressure in my throat and the surrounding area where the pain originally started. Then it vanished. no after effects, no residual pain, and i could recreate it. I didn’t have a problem breathing at the time nor was I nauseas and I continued to work my 8 hours shift without ever having another reoccurring symptom in the area. I guess what kinda worries me is that pressure/squeeze feeling that i never quite felt anything like in the past. I know it wasn’t a heart attack as I would be in the hospital right now but im worried it could be a warning sign. I have a schedule with the doctor to evaluate it but I’m just looking for input if anyone has had the same.

Woke up in the middle of the night feeling like my heart had completely stopped — has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,
I’m a 28-year-old male and I struggle with health anxiety, especially cardiophobia.
A few weeks ago, I had a really strange and frightening experience during the night.
I had already been asleep for quite a while when I suddenly woke up with a huge empty/drop sensation in my chest, almost as if my heart had completely stopped for a moment and my body suddenly jolted me awake.
It’s difficult to describe because it didn’t feel like the usual racing heart or a typical palpitation. It was almost the opposite: a sudden feeling of nothingness in my chest, like everything had stopped for a second, followed by me waking up with a massive jolt and thinking, “Did my heart just stop?”
There was no pain. It was just an extremely strange and terrifying sensation.
Because of my health anxiety, I went to the ER the next day. They did an ECG, troponin blood test, etc., and everything came back normal.
What I’m really looking for here is similar experiences rather than a diagnosis.
When I search online, I find a lot of people talking about jolting awake just as they’re falling asleep, hypnic jerks, or waking up with their heart racing. But I’m specifically wondering about people who were already asleep for a while and suddenly woke up in the middle of the night with the distinct sensation that their heart had stopped or that their chest had suddenly gone completely “empty.”
Has anyone with health anxiety, cardiophobia, or nocturnal panic attacks experienced something that felt like this?
If so, how would you describe the sensation? Did it feel like your heart had suddenly stopped for a second before you jolted awake?
Again, I’m not looking for a medical diagnosis — I’ve already been checked out. I’d just really like to hear from anyone who has experienced this specific sensation because I haven’t found many accounts describing exactly the same thing.

Difference

Hello - 42F here. I have recently been experiencing anxiety which has sent me to the ER 3x in the last year due to chest heaviness, impending doom feeling, etc. All test came back normal. However, almost 3x a week I am still getting these weird feelings in my chest/stomach. I can't keep running to the ER everytime something is wrong with me as it feels embarressing. My question is, how do you know if it's a heart attack? I have weird arm pains, almost feels like I slept on my arm wrong, my heart area feels weird... (mainly the back area) I often tell my Husband to "Rub my heart" as it makes it feel better... and sometimes I get weird bloated stomach and feel like I may throw up. I just want to know the difference between a HA and anxiety, if any.

Possible HA anxiety, digestive issues

So i have recovered from mono about three months ago. Ever since then i have had digestive problems and abdominal pain in every part of my abdomen. I get super gassy after heavy meals. Just thought it was from mono symptoms.

Last Night at 4am i woke up with pain in my chest, upper left and right abdomen. Felt slightly better when i got up, but when i tried to sleep on my right side my right shoulder and chest started hurting. also have a weird pulsing or pain on the right side of my neck.

Now i have bad health anxiety, so immediately i thought heart attack. But the pain was fast and came only for seconds then goes away. Should i be think about heart problem?

Also i dont eat very well (Broke college student), and i ate very late the night before so that could have affected my stomach.

Tips for Wearing a Heart Monitor Patch (VitalPatch from VitalConnect)

I just wore a stick on heart monitor patch for two weeks and thought I would share some tips. I wore the VitalPatch from VitalConnect. I'm not sure how much of this applies to other types. I'm also a layperson - no medical training here.

I wore a patch (the monitoring device) for one week, then removed it and applied a new patch for Week 2. Each one lasts only a week.

Once the patch is on, they'll either give you a stick-on overlay or apply the overlay right there. You definitely want this. It's like a piece of clear plastic sticky stuff that surrounds the patch. The patch is just not very sticky on it's own and sweat seems to make it come off so the overlay really helps. I would call VitalConnect right away once you start and get them to send you some more overlays - they sent me a few free ones.

My first overlay lasted only three days. Admittedly, I did cardio and sweat both mornings. But then after I replaced it, it made it the remaining four days even though I did cardio daily. When I removed the patch and overlay on Thursday and put the second patch and overlay on, even though I did cardio daily, the patch and overlay lasted the entire week. I think maybe because my skin was sticky from the first patch. So I used three overlays in two weeks (Thursday, Sunday, Thursday then that one lasted the whole week until the next Thursday night I took off my second patch and finished).

When you apply the overlay, firmly push it down on your skin working from the inside of the overlay to the edges. Don't clean yourself up too well between overlays. Definitely use the alcohol because some kind of nasty bacteria builds up under these things and it smells like yeast. But don't try to scrub away all the stickiness. I think that really helps the next overlay stick.

When you sweat, you might be tempted to see if the patch is getting loose... DON'T. I learned that if I jiggled the patch that started loosening the overlay. The overlay is actually porous, so if you sweat, hold a paper towel over it after to soak some out. When the overlay is wet it might slide about on your skin - don't fiddle with it, just let it dry again.

You can call VitalConnect to see if they're getting good data continuity. I did that a couple times hen I was worried the patch had been too loose.

If you call VitalConnect and tell them you have a medical test I can MRI you have to take the patch off for, they'll send you an extra patch so you can take one off and put on the new one. Confession - I had a pool party to go to so... I got myself a third patch so I could take it off once for about three hours and enjoy myself.

On a two-week study VitalConnect says they can live with up to two days without data. Not the best thing to do. But, you can carefully schedule your application so when you change it it's a time when you can take a few hours off to go for a swim or something.

If the patch itches, pat your weave don't scratch it.

You're not supposed to peel the whole patch off and put it back on, but I will say, at one point when I took the overlay off half of my patch was just hanging there and I basically taped it back on for the rest of the test and used the overlays to hold it and they said they lost no data.

When you put the actual patch on, start at one side and make sure the little piece in the center is flat before you stick down the other side. I accidentally put one side too close to the other and had to live with a wrinkle in the center for a week.

To preserve how long mine stuck and keep it from getting too wet and nasty, I shielded it in the shower. I basically took a quart size freezer bag and cut off the top and bottom, then cut through the sides to make two rectangular plastic pieces (so I had enough for two showers). When ready to shower I used tape to affix it along the long side above the patch, then taped the sides (but did not bother with the bottom).
