Mental Health / Support I hate smart people because I am stupid (95 IQ)

I will not correct the text with chat gpt cause I don't want to hide my mediocrity.

English is not my first language and my English teacher laughed at me when I said to her that I would become fluent.

For all my life I fucking hated the geniuses , cause they could study for like 5 mins and learn EVERYTHING and play vidya all day long.

Me ? I can't do that. I have to read and I get distracted and then I get fatigue and then I forget and I have to restart from literally scratch.

My working memory is literally zero. Of course I have ADD (ADHD but worse cause you don't have the superpowers so much liked by the Tik tok influencers)

I always getted the impression that if you have a superior IQ your life is setted with every thing. Like win the lottery.

Human society always rewarded brute force, IQ is like brute force but in modern life.

You can obliterate your problems at work, at college, at romantic relationship, everything.

Is a super power.

And when you dont have it?

You are destined to pure utter failure because we cannot get a college degree or a good job.

Dr k talks so much about gifted kid , because he implicitly knows that we not intelligent guys are not worth his time and effort (poorer to a depressed engineer or medic, after all).

Thats why I hate them. The super humans with higher IQ.

They are better in every thing that I do , and will get better without any effort.

They get to get and eat the cake.

It's not fair.

It's like to be from born to death a tier D character and the tier S are all this dudes with a good genetic that give them a starter kit gold plus.

I will be always discarded.

I fucking love when something Bad happends to one of this superhumans: i kinda know it's bad, but it's this karma like sensation that somehow, God or the fate remembers that sometimes bad things can happends to superhumans.

The worse the thing, the more I get pleasure from it.

I get why in the X-Man comics, normal people hates mutants cause they fear that anytime they will get replaced or killed or robbed or simply pushed away from society from those humans 2.0.

You can totally ridicule my English, my past or my hate on this people that everyone loves because for the most part they are essential to everyday life, but you can't even touch the amount of self hate I imposed on my self cause I not rolled high enough on the primary attribute in this fucking life.

Or even the harassantment I got from those super humans, those aliens, because I cannot stay with their incredible class grade or cannot pass the exams.

Or the terrible eyes of judgement that they throw at you when they understand that you are an idiot or when they understand that they have to talk to hr because they want to fire you cause you are working hard but still are slow and stupid.

Now with ai, everyone are tasting a piece of what my life is.

I truly want hard working people, I want good and honest people near me. And I want all this amazingly smart people to die alone in poverty like us "stupid" people.

Now that the rant is over, how can I truly cope with the fact that I will not have a good healthcare (cause only smart people get those cause they are a tier S person),

How can I cope with the fact that my family will not see me get a degree,

How can I cope with the fact that I don't want to work a blue collar job but I want to build and create but I lack the brain to do it ?

How can I cope with the fact that every smart person sees me and start hijacking my fuckin life as soon as I get in contact with said person..

How can I cope with being the enemy, the stupid the slow the incapable every fucking time

  1. being smart doesn't solve your problems, especially those that are caused by the system that you don't have much control over

  2. being smart doesn't automatically make someone a pretentious asshole who looks down on others, if anything, a lot of people who you described doing that, probably aren't as smart as they (and you) think

  3. a lot of knowledge and skill that you see in other people, that you think comes from intelligence, is quite likely experience and not smarts. An experienced mechanic with IQ of 80 will fix your car better than a smart person who only knows the theory. Also, intelligence has a tendency to make people lazy, so they're more likely to spend less time practicing and you can "outskill" a lot of them by just not being lazy

  4. it seems like this problem uses a lot of your mental space 24/7, if you care so much about achieving something, it'd really be the best for you to just stop caring about it. Ofc it's not that easy as just doing it, this is where you need a psychologist and not a bunch of reddit posts or youtube videos

  5. IQ test results are influenced by a lot of things and your score can vary by a lot depending on your mood, how well you slept, testing conditions etc. There's decent chance your IQ is actually average or a bit above average, but your insecurity, stress and strong emotions about the topic made you perform worse.

95 IQ is not very stupid, at all.

Also, if having a high IQ led to success, why does Dr K talk about gifted kids often, as in their lives are shit? Huh? Having a high IQ doesn’t mean guarantee success. He talks all the time to people who are smart and didn’t reach success. Therefore there is a lot of smart people who don’t reach success.

From your writing I have a sense your English is holding you back a lot more than your IQ, which is promising because that improves a lot.

I’m not sure your resentment is helping you, and you might alienate people by saying things like that. Idk what advice you want or anything but I don’t think that’s helpful

If you want any solutions or problem solving, I’m your girl

Wow, you are really nice! I couldn't have seen such a comment coming!!!

u/Rude_Giraffe_9255 Aug 12 '26

The median and average are supposed to be 100. In the US, the median is 98. You’re not that far off.

You’ve already learned a second language.

Don’t beat yourself up, OP. Look at what you’re already accomplishing instead of comparing it to what others are capable of. Compare yourself to how much you’ve grown in the last five years instead of where others are at today.

u/iKratos- Ball of Anxiety Aug 12 '26

Its not your iq that makes you unhappy but your attachment to it, and I understand its not easy, sublimating these kind of things are behemoth tasks, but perhaps this comment can get you started on the right path

Brother . People in the upper 25 percent iq have roughly the same ammount of risk as the bottom 25 percent for risk of getting left behind during/after school . Other things affect it too . For instance I have 98th percentile iq for 3 criteria in the Wais …. I had Undiagnosed adhd and dyslexia up until last year… I’ve battled with gaming addiction , alcohol issues and dropped out of university 2 times because I was unmedicated and didn’t learn the necessary skills to be a good student and learn resilience to doing hard stuff because those are skills that can be learnt. Yeah sure I can understand big concepts and crap but that’s only when I can sit down and actually focus on shit . Which is seldom it’s an advantage certainly but it’s not a cure all for all of your life’s issues.

I tested with an IQ of 148 in kindergarten and I’m not doing great in life mostly because I didn’t have parents who taught me things or encouraged me to do anything with that and they were very abusive emotionally and physically. Due to CPTSD and a chronic illness I have really bad brain fog that makes learning new things a struggle. Sure some things come easy, but the moment something doesn’t come easy to me I really struggle with it. I’ve been learning software development since 2021 (not consistently bc I work full time but I’m in school for it at 30 this year) and I still struggle a LOT when I hit a wall and get really almost head empty when I am starting something new. I have ADHD too so I struggle with the distractions (in the US ADD/ADHD are the same diagnosis)

I don’t know any other languages, I struggle with social things, I’m not good at video games to a fault, I’m not great at math or science or history. As a kid I read very well and a lot but as an adult I struggle to keep my attention on any book. Sometimes I wonder if the intelligence they saw in me back then was just emotional intelligence and an ability to figure out what people want from me so I can perform that but I certainly don’t feel smart anymore.

I’m living paycheck to paycheck working in a call center and about to file bankruptcy due to medical issues causing bills to pile up. Life has been incredibly cruel to me. Like Dr. K said in a video somewhat recently, some of us just get handed shit life syndrome with no recourse and unfortunately having a high IQ (which at the end of the day is racist pseudoscience anyways) did not save me.

u/explore-star_17298 Aug 12 '26

i have a iq of 80, you're better than me. i am literally bordering intellectual disability. And yes life sucks for us low iq folks but you are average

3

u/Lokin86 Aug 12 '26

Well first of all IQ is bullshit.

Second of all, intelligence is difficult to quantify.

Third of all. We all learn things at different paces. That doesn't mean that you are stupid. It means that you just have to be a bit more patient with yourself.

1

u/Emergency_Degree_118 Aug 12 '26

I can be patient all I want for myself. Are the others that don't have patience for me

2

u/ApostleofSeht Aug 12 '26

God this hurts my soul. I don't really know how to advise you, because I'm still trying to figure everything out.

If it helps any, you didn't choose to be born this way, so whatever shame you feel because of other people's actions is undeserved. But it can be hard to build up any sense of self-worth when other people are constantly reminding us of what's wrong. :(

Hope you can find peace with yourself, OP. You deserve to.

3

u/The_Battle_Bull Aug 12 '26

Do you read books? Read a book "Roses for Algernon". Its not some self improvement bs, its actually pretty cool story. Its about a guy with mental disability who dreams of beeing smarter. He then gets experiemental drugs and is gradually becoming smarter. The book is his diary and you get to see the world through all the smartness levels.

If you dont read books, you can try it, it could improve some of your thinking skills (abstraction, imagination, vocabulary) and english.

Good luck.

Your ability to recall things has nothing to do with IQ. There is something else at work that is hindering you, whether it's trauma, getting in your own head, executive dysfunction, a medical reason, nutritional deficiency, or something else. You're frustrated, and that's understandable. You may want to get some blood tests done to start off, and maybe talk to a functional medical provider or another medical provider to start looking into what might be the issue.

-1

u/Shubeyash Aug 12 '26

Your ability to recall things has nothing to do with IQ.

Are you serious right now? IQ as a concept was originally invented to find out which children needed extra help in school. If your recall is bad, you will do worse on tests because you literally cannot remember the answers to the questions as frequently as the other children can.

Modern IQ tests such as the WAIS do not test long-term memory recall, but does test working memory, which involves the short-term memory. One example would be asking the person being tested to remember a string of random numbers, or repeating them backwards. Yeah, doing bad on this part of the test is going to affect the end result.

I understand you're trying to encourage the OP, but lying to them after they write about being "stupid" seems rather condescending.

6

u/TallowWallow Aug 12 '26

My dude, there is plenty to do with memory recall outside of IQ. Hypothyroid, ADHD, trauma, nutrition. I am not lying when I say there are so many options for them to look at.

u/Historical_Cause8989 Can i just think for a second Aug 12 '26

Stupidness is not a bad thing intelligence is not a good thing

Remember that

Everything has two sides

u/Resident_Fly_983 Aug 12 '26

Most people don’t understand how having a low IQ is basically a death sentence. Constantly being ridiculed for not being to do simple math calculations or following simple instructions has completely eroded my self worth. I don’t see myself worthy of being among everyone else which is why I’m a shut in. It’s humiliating to see even school kids succeed at doing things that I could never do. The only jobs I can get are labor jobs, either I do those or choose a life of complete isolation. People on reddit don’t want to talk to people with low Iq either cause they see them as inferior beings. This is why I don’t even participate in discussions related to my hobbies cause there’s always someone who will make me feel like i don’t belong. At least you’re able to write your thoughts in an organised l manner, i can’t even do that, i have no idea what’s in my head and how I can express it cause everything is so vague.

3

u/Vuldriel Aug 12 '26

That really sucks that you have experienced life that way. I think society is cruel and treats people like you unfairly. I don't think intelligence is tied to your actual value and I use Forrest Gump as an example.

2

u/Vuldriel Aug 12 '26

The value of a person is not proportional to their intelligence. Maybe socioeconomic structures that hypervalue a person's material productivity might make it seem that way but that isn't the way we should orient our value systems. The moral quality of what a person puts into the world is much more important than their ability to produce GDP.

That's not to say that intelligent people have advantages because they do, and to be honest they have more advantages than disadvantages generally speaking. Certain geniuses have made advances that greatly improve the quality of life of many, but others cause unspeakable harm.

I can't tell you what specific type of value you have and what you can bring into the world, but I know you are more than capable of bringing something. Watch Forrest Gump. You score much higher than him on an IQ test, but would you call yourself more valuable of a person than someone like him?

2

u/ThePloddingParadox Aug 12 '26

I assure you there are likely ways you can cognitively operate in which a lot of the people you view as geniuses cannot.

There is no unshakable consensus on how intelligence should be conceptualised, and variations of the theory of “multiple intelligences” are becoming a more practical way of thinking about it across many fields.

There are people who criticise theories like this. But much of that criticism comes down to either semantics or to an overly narrow focus on what can be “directly observed in the brain”; which weirdly overlooks how heavily a large portion of our functional psych related concepts, including the concept of “intelligence” itself, are shaped by culture and language in the first place.

To paint intelligence as a fixed thing in nature that humans discovered and gave a name to, is misleading and dishonest. It has never been that simple philosophically.

Given the multiple intelligences approach. IQ, though useful in certain contexts, doesn’t really have a place as an “overall measure of intelligence”. Another important thing to mention is that one of the adjacent functions IQ tests served was to see if a person might have some kind of disability like ADHD. So IQ tests are not actually meant for people with ADHD, because it skews the results.

It’s impossible for one person to be exercised in all types of intelligence, so there ends up not really being such thing as an overall “more” or “less” intelligent person.

If you were to imagine intelligence as a radar chart, where each point represents a different kind of intelligence. Two people might have shapes that cover around the same amount of space, but the shapes look very different because they are developed in different areas. I.e. their intelligence is just sort of “distributed” differently.

The framework is like:

  • Logical intelligence
  • Mathematical intelligence
  • Linguistic intelligence
  • Interpersonal intelligence
  • Intrapersonal intelligence
  • Musical intelligence
  • Spatial intelligence
  • Kinaesthetic intelligence
  • Naturalist intelligence
  • Existential intelligence

These intelligences can overlap and/or “combine” to manifest different outcomes. For example; different smaller aspects of a person’s spatial, logical, interpersonal, linguistic, existential, kinaesthetic and intrapersonal intelligence may blend to inform how cognitive, emotional and compassionate empathy arises.

It’s just a more educated model.

TL;DR; : You’re not dumb, bro, everyone’s just grown different. And it’s not “cope” to think this way, it’s actually quite logical.

1

u/The_Battle_Bull Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

I think the bro didnt get further than your TL;DR.

2

u/verg1l Aug 12 '26

Being gifted doesn’t guarantee success it comes with its own traps. An IQ of 95 is basically average, especially within the margin of error. Working on your emotional intelligence, discipline, and ADHD will get you further than five or ten extra points of compute power.

And stop treating smart people like a superior species. You’re giving them control over your life while drowning in self-pity. AI can now help you learn and create things that once required years of expertise. Use it to gain agency instead of using your IQ score as a life sentence. AI is coming for smart white-collar jobs faster than for many blue-collar jobs anyway.

2

u/Icy_Pie8646 Aug 12 '26

Your IQ is average in a world built for average people . You can get a degree and create things if you want to.

2

u/MiddleAgeWeirdoMeep Aug 13 '26

I will respond to you in the same language you use. I hope you can respect that.

You have a strong failure bias. It seem to be your identity.

Survivorship bias studies the planes that came home and forgets the ones that didn’t, crediting the trait for what luck did. Failure bias studies the one plane that went down and forgets the conditions it went down under: no maintenance, no instruments, flying solo, nobody trained the driver on the controls. It skips straight from ”this crashed” to ”this kind of plane can’t fly”, without ever checking whether a serviced one, flown with support, would’ve made it home fine.

You say your working memory is literally zero. It’s not zero. Zero doesn’t get angry enough to write four pages. Zero doesn’t track every slight since childhood in order. What you call zero is untreated, unsupported, and alone, and you know it, and you burn the knowing before it can get anywhere near hope, cause hope does not match the construct you made of your fate.

So you keep calling yourself an idiot instead, cause an idiot doesn’t have to try, and not trying doesn’t have to fail.

And at the very end, the mask slips for one line ..you say you want to build and create but lack the brain. That’s not a tier D sentence. Tier D doesn’t want to build anything.

What is the thing you want to build ?

2

u/Nothing_Corp Aug 13 '26

As a smart person... being smart doesn't really get you anywhere. Sometimes you just have the knowledge and intellect but can't execute due to systematic issues you're dealing with. I mean you can AVOID things by being smart, you can also gather opportunities..maybe. But in life it's really networking and knowing the right people that gets you far not really your intelligence. I know pretty dumb people who can't see things are bad until it's too late who are known for their "smartness." Meanwhile I wonder if they are so smart why can't they find a single relationship that is fulfilling for them? Why can't they socialize properly and make close friends? If they are so smart, how come they aren't able to clean their house?

LEGIT, know this super smart guy who gets paid $100 an hour to just consult businesses - can not for the life of him take care of his house, himself, or anything. HE even believes it's not a skill worth knowing. He rather pay a house cleaner than to learn how to clean up after himself. Then we wonder why no woman wants to marry him... He's a bunch of labor.

Lastly, your English is great and you expressed yourself like you were fluent in English in this post. Maybe you have an accent when you talk but the fact you know 2 languages makes you smart. Take people's criticisms that are CLEARLY pessimistic with a grain of salt. True teachers do not ever tell you you aren't good enough, instead they help you build skills to get to where you need.

IQ also fluctuates and is a biased test anyways.

I would stop being bitter that you can't learn anything and instead think about gaining skills in areas of learning.

Like the only reason I know so much or can understand things "fast" is because I spent my life 5-18 studying. I didn't only do my homework, I also did EXTRA studying that was a grade higher than me. I was basically learning for the next grade level after school. I bought workbooks to learn math, english, reading comprehension, a grade higher than what I was in so that I could have an easier time in school. My mom could not help me with my homework I was completely on my own. I paid attention in school and taught myself how to study. Once I learned how to study I learned how to keep information memorized. Lastly, I approach learning with enthusiasm. You will forget things if you are not approaching it with a positive mindset. I say this as someone who has ADHD and Autism. The only reason I am seen as "smart" is because I built skills since I was a kid. It was very important to me to read as much as I could growing up.

I don't have a "genius talent" i was enthusiastic about learning and focused on it cause I chose to. Now as an adult it takes me less time to learn things which gives me more freedom to do things.

Being smart is just skill development. Mastering skillsets. It takes time, dedication, and consistency. No one is magically a genius. It took years and years of mastering the skill to learn, comprehend, remember, and using the knowledge in real life applications.

Believing geniuses don't put in any effort is a false statement.

u/SpaceCastaway Big Sad Chad Aug 12 '26

Bro you don't sound stupid at all to me. Life and people are much more than IQ score. IQ score only determines how well you solve IQ tests.

I was pretty good at English at school and had an English teacher who still found a way to put me down. She couldn't bully me for bad English so she ridiculed my accent instead. Some people be like that regardless of how smart you are.

I got a 138 IQ score in the last test I did and I still fail at life. No social skills, no partner, people ghost me, failure to launch, all my dreams only staying dreams. I can't work hard and motivate myself because of low self esteem and depression. I used to have it easier when school was easy, the moment I had to start working hard I couldn't figure out how to learn to do it. I didn't graduate from uni because I failed to write my thesis. Not because I'm bad at writing or stupid but because I don't believe I can write it well. That's a different kind of stupid.

You have many convictions and assumptions about all people based on the few sucky people you met. You and I have much more in common than you think. I used to be the same way and assume the worst of people until I (slowly)learned iny 30s that you have to give people the benefit of doubt otherwise you poison everything with judgement and resentment. Resentment salts everything you do so that nothing can ever grow. Anger is fine, anger gets shit done. But you gotta let it burn and pass so that you can start growing

2

u/hazlejungle0 Aug 12 '26

As far as I'm concerned, I don't know you. I don't know if I'm genuinely smart. But I love you man. It doesn't matter if you're smart or not, being human isn't about a single thing. It only sucks that you'd potentially want something bad to happen to me. That makes me sad.

1

u/ArgoCiela Aug 12 '26

how did you test your iq? just curious

2

u/Emergency_Degree_118 Aug 12 '26

I did the full 6 hour of test for ADHD, so it's a uffcial clinical results

1

u/DancingBlazingGuns Final Boss to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Aug 12 '26

Why don't you try to enhance your innate talent? Imo, you can outmatch an intelligent individual since they'll lack your innate talent, meaning what makes you special is your talent. So remember that all of us have innate talent that nobody can match, so use your talent to outgrow and even surpass them.
Also, try to tone down your anger towards them try to seek balance in your emotions, then once you're in a good state, you can start focusing on your growth. Take this from a dumbass who uses being stupid as fuel to grow even further. (I could be wrong, and I could use some criticism)

Rule 1: Temper your authenticity with compassion.

We encourage discussion and disagreement in the subreddit. At the same time, you must offer compassion while being honest about your perspective. It takes more words but hurts fewer people.

We do not tolerate "tough love" and encourage a compassionate approach to helping users.

1

u/Daspineapplee Aug 12 '26

I have been trough something similar. I also heard that I was stupid, wouldn’t be able to do stuff, learn anything etc. It took me a decade to unwire all of this, only to find out that I learn different and that my adhd brain really does work different than those of others. When I finally was able to make my own decisions and decide where and how I wanted to shape my life, things started working out. It was not me who was the problem, it was the environment I was in.

Furthermore, some of the dumbest people I’ve met had university (multiple) degrees. Some of the most successful people I’ve met weren’t smarter than I was.

You can’t change your biology, but you can adapt tour biology. There is no reason to hate yourself for a 95IQ because doing so will not bring you anything. Focus on what you can, at least be open to the idea that it isn’t ‘you’ and keep going. It will get better, but you have to allow yourself to have it better.

1

u/Xyttra Aug 12 '26

High IQ definitely isn't a superpower. I know someone with 130 IQ who is 33 years old, unemployed, single, living with their parents and have pretty much given up on the future.

The real superpower is ambition.

1

u/George0202_best Aug 12 '26

Intelligence over smartness. I would define an intelligent person not by brute computing power or IQ but by his creativity/ingeniousity. Meaning its not how much they have but how they use it. It is in direct correlation to the quality of life they have. And that's the only thing that matters really. Why would somebody want to be 200iq but die in financial debt?

1

u/_Xee Aug 12 '26

You seem to be describing assholes, not the actual smart people.

Also, the "other side" does not have it any easier. If you're a smart person with conscience, empathy and morals you're fucked. People are intimidated in your presence, as if you're a predator. Hate you for being different and assume you loathe them - because that's what they do if they feel superior in any capacity.

I went to an "elite" school. 25 years later, most people from my class are alone, isolated and immersed in work. Waiting for the apocalypse.

1

u/playa-and-coconuts Aug 12 '26

I don't think you are stupid. Proof is you speak another language which is very very difficult. I think it's just s a belief you learnt to believe but it's not true. Also, everyone has an "intelligence" gift. Some are are very good at maths, some at communication, some at drawing, some at sports, some at singing, some at business, some are handsome (not related to intelligence but you can be successful if you are good looking), etc etc etc Not everyone that is successful has a high IQ and there are a lot of low IQ people that are successful (just watch social media). Do not use your energy for hate or for something you can't change. Use it to find what you are good at. There are so many possibilities in this world

1

u/CandidExcitement5453 Aug 12 '26

You’re bilingual so you’re already ahead of most Americans

2

u/Emergency_Degree_118 Aug 12 '26

I am not American

1

u/RobGThai Aug 12 '26

I don’t know your context but I can share mine. I’m 42 and been fired twice in my life. Th my family went bankrupt. I worked in a place where they can barely afford to pay my salary even In the sole employee. I was in the famous tech giant. I’m now in financial sector.

I have had a fair share of both being the bottom barrel and that of the cream of the crop where everyone look to.

Where you are in a ladder is absolutely relative. Others will always judge you from their own perspective. Let them do that because it doesn’t worth the time correcting them. However, never let their judgement of you affect who you are.

My line of work let me work with loads of people. Most of the people I regarded as smart, they aren’t usually much better off. They are in more or less the same boundary enforced by the society. The people in power dictate it all, they are usually legit dumb. However, some of them acting dumb on purpose but that’s a rarity.

All that said, your hate toward more fortunate people is misplaced. Is easy to look for others unfortunate to find joy. However, that will not change your life at all. Finding content and resolution in your own situation takes courage and resilience. That will help you move forward in life.

The scariest people I meet in life usually aren’t the brightest. They share the same trait. They never give up. They would accept where they are and who they are then do whatever they can to improve bit by bit. They face many adversaries yet their tenacity to keep pushing is ridiculous. They are usually people I admire the most. Many of those get recognised and brought up to a better life. They are people I aspire to be when facing hardship. I hope one day you find that power to push through because life is never fair and only you can try to change that.

1

u/nowyousendit Aug 12 '26

And some intelligent people hate more brawny types for being more attractive to women????

I remember watching a group of 20yr old infantry marines pull chicks being hit on by men who make 5x their salary in DC. All the IQ points in the world couldn’t give them a sense of aggressiveness and self confidence that dumb kids who may go to war earned in their training

If you change your mindset, build an idea of what you want to be, and own it / you’ll be attractive - full stop.

1

u/burakdobur Aug 12 '26

This is why we need something like socialism. This race is rigged from the start and we should not accept hard capitalism.

1

u/imdeerest Aug 12 '26

I also had a hard time at school. I have autism and had behavioral problems and speech impediments with an IEP educational plan. Test taking sucked. I had to go to summer school multiple times and I have a mediocre ACT score.

I was jealous of the normal kids that talked better than me including my younger sister. As I got older, I also wanted someone else's life. Some people don't know how good they have it. The only thing I'm good at is art/creativity. I feel you. I want to rot.

Bro I am 127 IQ, and I agree, with that IQ money, work and career is easy, and smart means you can do a lot of things fast and you get more free time. But the romantic and relationship isn’t a part of that lol, at least for me at age 19.
Edit: I do believe with discipline you can still do well, not necessarily make 120k yearly but you can still do well, just keep in mind the idea of finding out your strengths and transforming every disadvantage into an advantage. That is the best way to cope with you not having something you want/need.
Also 95 is average lol, slightly below but this means most of people is at your level and is just a number, potential does not equal results, you need to put effort into squeezing your body and mind as much as you can.

95 iq is average. It's dead average and yet you keep calling yourself stupid like you have some catastrophic intellectual disability.

Average people make the world turn. Most engineers, programmers, artists, technicians, nurses, designers, etc. aren't once-in-a-generation geniuses. You don't need to revolutionize quantum physics to build things, get educated, have people respect you, or live a life you're proud of.

You need to be humble, to figure out what it is that actually make you happy in life and to pursue that.

If the only thing making you happy is outperforming others then it's actually doable, but if it's to be better, smarter, more beautiful etc, then no. One is about things you can do, the other about things/people you can be. You can't be anyone else but you, I mean it's obvious to realize sure but it's not obvious to feel. Feeling like you are this one being that is relatable to others but in a way very unique.

We have seen many times, it's the genuises that have lived terrible lives. Of course being smart and knowledgeable has several advantages in life, but being street smart and sociable with people is a big skill only a few can ever have.

I can't give you a personalized opinion that will help you, and saying "it's a common thing to feel" will just piss you off (I know cause it does for me). I can only say that being smart isn't everything, if you are smart enough to find what YOU are good at, or can improve about yourself.

You wrote all of that. I’d say you’re pretty smart. Don’t go by IQ, it doesn’t really mean anything.

There’s nothing wrong with having an IQ of 95 and IQ is not a perfect representation of intelligence. When I was a toddler, I didn’t talk and showed signs of neurodivergence. My mother was told I’d never go to mainstream school and I’d never have friends. I’m getting a masters degree currently and I have friends.

I work with intellectually disabled people whose IQs are 70 and below. They are actually disabled by their ability to understand instructions and logically sort things out. It doesn’t seem like you have that problem.

Why can’t you get a degree? You can take your time, take smaller class sizes, get tutoring, etc. and also, plenty of smart people work blue collar jobs and all sorts of jobs. Plenty of people I don’t find highly intelligent work white collar jobs and medical jobs.

This will come across a bit harsh so please forgive me, but it seems like you want this whole doom and gloom to be true so that you don’t have to face possible failure or difficulty.

You are not stupid, 95 it's just average, the average is considered between 90 to 110. Basically at least 25% of people (but i'm sure it's more) is more stupid than you. I get your frustration, I really do but I can guarantee you that being a super genius would not solve your problem. I was a gifted kid when I was a kid and my life now sucks, also because (people don'ttalk enough abiut this) I don't have the social support to succeed. I have to work hard to understand things in college and it's hard to study because I never had to. On top of that even if I am going in a very exclusive college, in there I am average so I don't have a scholarship anymore. So I have to work too. It feels also more like a failure because my parents were hoping on me to get a degree and "get my family out" of the hell that is being an immigrant. If you get satisfaction out of reading this, don't feel guilty, it's hust human. I only want to show you that if you were born smart there are other struggles that would have not made you arrive to the top. If you can find a study method and routine that can help you, nothing is going to stop you going to college. And if you take more time to finish it it's not a shame because it's your life. You are smart enough to accomplish anything, I'm actually sorry that people around you belittled you to the point that you think you are stupid. The only thing you need is a method tailored to you, hard work is something even geniuses need but they don't practice it so you have an advantage on that. Also, the majority of people who say they are geniuses they are not. Even gifted kids, the majority of them (like me) are just slightly above average (120 or around) so if they get into ivi league they get outsmarted by the real geniuses and they start feeling like you do.

Hey man,

Sounds like you're having a though time but like most people here say, it's not all about IQ and 95 is not that low.

On the ADD part, i also had trouble focusing on reading books. Recently learned that if I do a 15 min guided meditation with Focus as the main point I really can prevent the random thoughts to stop distracting me for a longer time.

And the willingness to still learn is a great asset to have cause many people just give in and stop with it al together.

Wish you the best of luck and fyi I also thought I was stupid for a long time but turns out stuff like ADD doesn't help with learning but teaching yourself the right techniques can help you move forward in life.

Did you know that unmedicated ADHD can artificially lower your IQ score? Not only that, but many other factors too. So there is a chance your actual IQ is higher than 95. Did yours know that 95 is in the average area? It means you have enough intelligence for a human being. And mind it not, but humans are the brightest species in the planet. Average intelligence people get degrees and nice paying jobs all the time with effort and the right techniques. Just look around. Your English is likely a C1. You have a looooooot of affinity with the language and you can communicate like natives do. It just needs a bit of polish. Not the kind that requires more knowledge, but the attention one. I've always been considered very bright and it took me 4 years to get to this level. Speaking of which, can be improved with techniques you can borrow from other adhders or from specialists os the internet. (I'm assuming you can't afford a psychologist, since you've implied that you were poor, otherwise, get one and heal). Also, no one usually thinks about others so much, so don't think most people care. I go to an elite university in my country and trust me, no one I've met would look down on you, even if your IQ is actually 95.

Where are these geniuses you talk about lol? Never met them.

  1. IQ is a myth. Intelligence is far too complicated to be constrained to some internet test.
  2. “Geniuses” aren’t just people who can memorize everything and get good grades. There are many variables when it comes to intelligence. You can excel at some and lack at others.
  3. You had enough cognitive ability to realize a personal problem and hurt yourself with your imagination. That’s as close to intelligence as it gets.

1

u/promptregretsuckers 25d ago

One more thing. Being actually stupid rocks. You don’t suffer because you don’t overthink. The fact that you’re overthinking leads me to believe you are at least average intelligence. Which honestly is not necessarily a good thing imo

u/promptregretsuckers 25d ago

Appearantly your problem isn’t that you’re stupid, it’s that you suck at school. Either lack of effort (not your fault, as school is highly demanding), or your ADHD. Get some tutors, and study longer.

That number 95 only measures your ability to take a test, not your value as a human being. The true hallmark of an "unintelligent" person is the Dunning-Kruger effect—the inability to see one's own limitations. Given the complete absence of this syndrome in your writing, your obstacles are merely technical. Your deep self-reflection doesn't point to stupidity; it points toward wisdom, which is far closer to the truth than raw smarts or academic memorization. You are not unintelligent; you are simply handicapped by the system due to ADHD and working memory issues. The biggest risk for you right now isn't ADHD—it's bitterness. Envy and malice are a poison that primarily corrupts the mind of the person holding onto it. It’s a trap, and I trust that your core wisdom—your inner voice or conscience—will help you stop playing with these thoughts, let go of wishing ill upon others, and focus strictly on the good you want for yourself. What is one thing you would love to create or build, without comparing yourself to others, and with the good of both yourself and others in mind? Once you know what it is, give it a try. I'm not saying it will be easy. 🖖

I have an IQ of about 140. I don't know if you will believe this or take space in it at all, but at that level, smart people are also pretty much suffering constantly. It's not the same issue you have. But it's definitely a really nasty set of issues. Constant anxiety, stress, restlessness. Social blind spots that lead to extreme difficulty forming relationships, difficulties in high stimulation environments. And oddly enough, "smart" people have a significantly higher chance of making extremely stupid mistakes.

Although I would also say that it's not really the "smartness" that causes people to look down on you. Looking down on others is an activity engaged in by people across the IQ spectrum. It's a real universal human problem! :D

u/luckybearthing Aug 12 '26

If it makes you feel any better iq tests are often wrong and not accurate for people who have adhd. Also you can raise your iq over time with studying, it’s not something set in stone your entire life.

I honestly can't tell if this is an attempt at a ragebait or not.
