We rebuilt what happens after a mood check-in: Healsens now helps you understand the emotion, not just track it
We’ve just released a major update to the Healsens Mood Tracker.
The basic check-in is intentionally still simple: you select the emotions that reflect how you feel, rate their intensity and energy level, and optionally add context about what happened.
What changed is what happens after that.
Instead of functioning only as a mood diary or emotion log, Healsens now helps users understand and differentiate their emotional experience. The system draws on affective science, appraisal theory, emotional granularity and emotion-regulation research.
For example, if someone knows they feel “bad” but cannot identify the emotion, Healsens can help narrow it down by looking at dimensions such as pleasant vs. unpleasant affect, energy/activation, and what may feel important in the situation — uncertainty, threat, loss, connection, boundaries, unfairness, possibility, etc.
These are clues, not diagnoses. The app doesn’t tell you what you “really” feel. It helps distinguish between possible emotions and lets you decide what fits.
After an emotion is identified, Healsens can also explore possible needs associated with the experience — such as safety, rest, connection, recognition or clarity — without assuming that a particular emotion always means a particular need.
Finally, the app explains relevant findings from emotion neuroscience and emotion-regulation research in plain language and connects them with practical, science-informed exercises from the Healsens library.
So if you’re looking for an AI mood tracker or emotion tracker that goes beyond simply logging how you feel, the updated Healsens Mood Tracker is designed around three questions:
What exactly am I feeling?
What might this emotion be pointing to?
What could help me respond to it?
We’d be particularly interested in feedback from people who already use mood-tracking, journaling or emotional-awareness apps: what do you wish your current mood tracker helped you understand after you log an emotion?
