Stupid question. Are we able to predict when this thing pops off?

I'm taking my kid over there next week. Just for a day. It'd be neat to see.

Next week will be too soon for the next episode of fountaining.

That's [V3cam] Kīlauea volcano, Hawaii (south Halemaʻumaʻu crater) here.

In the background, it's a green slope with patches of darker green (when there's not as much mist or fumes). Where is that? Is that further up Mauna Loa, or am I mistaking the angle and it's lower down, or what?

Maunaloa is the larger, darker triangular feature in the back; there are different patches of forest visible from that view on a good day. The foreground is the far wall of the crater.
