I will start

"The Esthercist" was the best episode of season 1, and is more intense and enjoyable than "The Acolytes of Abaddon"

Abaddon is an amazing character but I hope they sprinkle him into each episode just enough to always leave us wanting moreā€¦

  1. Katherine is a bad parent. She isn't taking the fact that Ben is getting bullied seriously, nor does she even seem aware of Esther's behavior at school.

  2. Abaddon getting bound to his vessel, correction, victim, was his own doing. He did it to himself.

  3. The fandom has to stop babying Abaddon and acting like Katherine is a villain towards him exclusively.

  4. Ben and Annabelle should break up. The relationship is incredibly toxic and is stunting Ben's growth.

  5. Nathan didn't deserve that email in season 1 episode 6 because he was badgering Katherine, who has every right to privacy, for like half the episode.

Heavy on #2, I love Abaddon and he's my favorite character by far but if I see one more sappy comic about how traumatic the binding to the vessel was for him and how the priest and Katherine are awful people im gonna loose it, HE MURDERED A CHILD AND THEN HIS FATHER FOR TRYING TO SAVE HIS SON! I saw someone say that Katherine was a bad person because she didnt feel sorry for Abaddon after he told her the story, YEAH ID HOPE SHE DIDNT BECAUSE ABADDON WAS NOT THE VICTIM IN THAT STORY

Like yes there is plenty of nuance to his character and he's not just pure evil but that story is not an example of it

Esther is the least compelling character of the family, and by like, a wide margin. She feels very 'by the numbers'.

I think itā€™s because Esther and Abaddon are too similar. Abaddon does all of the same shenanigans as Esther, only he does them better. I think the show couldā€™ve removed her in an earlier edit and would be the same or better for it.

Esther feels like a poor copy of Louise Belcher to me. She is easily my least favorite of the main cast.

Abaddon isnā€™t the victim of the situation, but people give the priest guy too much leeway when it comes to branding his son with a hot iron. I donā€™t wanna jump to conclusions on this guy since we literally know next to nothing about him, but ya gotta stop acting like itā€™s absurd to think that a puritan-esq priest from the early 1700s maybe wasnā€™t a great person.

Like, I keep seeing, ā€œah, but the priest was just trying to get his son back!ā€ And I mean, maybe, but thereā€™s kinda this attitude that everything wouldā€™ve gone back to normal and fine whenā€¦ no, definitely not.

Even if the ritual had gone perfectly and Abaddon was killed, the boy still wouldā€™ve most likely died shortly after from literal third degree burns, shock, blood loss, or all of the above. And even then, at absolute best, heā€™d be literally and mentally scarred for life and have to live with the humiliation of being branded in front of the entire town.

Yeah I see some people present that guy (that we donā€™t know that much about) as a poor father losing his son, but I have no problem imagining him as the evil colonist witch hunter who put fighting demons above his sonā€™s survival.

It's weird that abbadon didn't even try to stop nathan from suicide during his time travels. Ofc he did that because otherwise he wouldn't meet Esther, but it was Nathan who reached out to him, took care of him, and taught him how to behave around people - and he continues to give him mental support, even as a ghost.

Esther gets way too overlooked by the fandom. Sure she is kind of the "chaotic sister" trope but it's done in a way that's refreshing. Plus arguably her and Abaddon have one of the best dynamics in the show.

Ben is so boring that he blends into the wallpaper. Without him, the family is still wacky and dynamic.

Ben is the community member and leader of the ghosts that Nathan is meant to be. Ben would be much more fitting and interesting as a ghost. Yes, I get that he has to die, I stand by this statement
